Yama a 15-year-old boy is an orphan. He has never seen his parents, the earliest memory of his all starts from the orphanage he used to stay at. There were about 15 kids in the orphanage and the orphanage caretaker Sita took care of all the kids relatively well. The orphanage was located on a small island on East blue known as Kali village.

It was a small village with a population of about 500 people. The people of the village were not rich or powerful but were satisfied with what they had. Sita the caretaker of the Orphanage was also the head of the village. She was a smart woman with many talents.

Yama and the other kids were thankful and happy that Sita was taking care of them. Yama was a happy kid who was always optimistic and hard working. He was among the younger ones in the group but was the smartest among them.

Because of his kind and helpful nature, not only his peers but also all the villagers loved him.

His life was going smoothly until one day when the village was attacked by a pirate group. Sita who was the head of the village came to talk and stop the pirates but the pirates had no plans of negotiating. A pirate stabbed her in the stomach without even hearing her.

Yama and the kids were inside the orphanage looking outside from the window when that happened. They all started screaming in panic when they saw Sita getting stabbed. In the next moment, the pirates mercilessly started killing the defenseless villagers.

Yama’s world started to crumble when he saw the scene. He was shaking in fear. He looked at dying Sita who was laying on the ground covered in blood. Sita slowly turned her head towards the orphanage and saw Yama crying and shaking in fear.

A tear rolled down her cheeks when she saw Yama.

“Run” she murmured.

Yama saw her lips moving and understood what she said. He looked around Sita and saw a gruesome sight of everyone he loved dying in front of him. Then he saw Ram who was the oldest orphan among the group running towards the pirate with a knife in his hand.

“NOOO!” yelled Yama.

The pirate saw Ram coming towards him and kicked him in the chest. Ram fell on the ground because of the impact. The Pirate moved towards him and stabbed him in the neck. The pirate saw Yama in the window and started walking towards him.

Yama was sad and afraid but he knew if he didn’t act now he would die. He turned around and saw some children hiding under the bed and some hiding inside cupboards, they all were panicking and crying.

“Guys, we can’t stay here we need to run.”

None of the children could think properly right now. They were all too afraid to think.

He yelled again. “Lily, Hari, Laxman, listen to me they are coming towards us we can’t stay here.”

He grabbed the hand of Lily who was a year younger than him and pulled her up. He was about to go and drag the others too but he heard a loud bang on the door. Someone was kicking the door down.

His mind was taken over by fear and he didn’t look back and started to run towards the back door while dragging Lily. Lily couldn’t even think properly her mind was completely blank. She just ran with Yama because he was dragging her.

The two of them ran for an hour straight and entered pretty deep inside a forest. Yama was getting tired his feet were all bloody because he ran barefoot in a forest for an hour and Lily was in an even worst situation. She was completely exhausted.

Yama knew this forest very well because he used to come here with Sita to collect herbs or with other children to play. So he went to a nearby cave which was empty and started to cover the entrance with rocks from inside the cave.

He was still crying and shaking from fear but Lily was completely blank. He saw Lily’s blank face pulled her into a tight hug and started crying.

Nearly a day passed the two children were still staying inside the cave while hugging each other. Lily’s stomach started to rumble because of hunger and he was also very hungry and tired. He wasn’t able to sleep at all because of fear so he had stayed up all night.

He knew if he kept on staying in the cave he would die. So he had no choice but to leave the cave.

“Lily you stay here I will go out and bring some food.” He softly said to her.

As soon as she heard him she hugged him tighter and started crying. “No, no please don’t leave me please don’t leave me alone.”

Yama's eyes also teared up when he heard her. He hugged her back and started consoling her while holding back his tears. “Don’t cry Lily, I will protect you.”

He let her cry for a bit and spoke after a while. “Lily, we can’t stay in this cave forever let’s go outside and find some food.”

Lily nodded her head and followed Yama out of the cave. The island was very silent compared to yesterday. He didn’t have a hard time finding fruits in the forest. He looked in the direction of the village and started shaking a bit. He didn’t dare to go back into the village yet.

They gathered a lot of fruits and brought them back to the cave. The two of them spent three more days inside the cave. On the fourth day, he finally had enough courage to head towards the village. Lily didn’t want to leave him so they both started to move towards the village.
