"Greetings. Congratulations on your advancement to the high school division. "

"During your 3 years in the junior high school division, you attained a basic competency, and developed your understanding of each ingredient."

"In addition to the cooking practicum, you attended lectures on a variety of topics, including culinary theory, nutrition, public health, introductory agronomics,  and management."

"Now you stand at the threshold of the high school division. The challenges you face from now on will not concern your skills or intellect, but whether you have the mettle to survive as a culinary professional."

"99 percent of you are meant to be sacrifices for honing the remaining 1 percent." said the director.

When Miku learned heard that they were sacrifices, she couldn't help but feel bad for the people who wouldn't pass. After all, who wouldn't be sad if they tried so hard but still failed? It was a really bad feeling Miku wished one didn't have to feel.

Soma saw Miku's sad expression and immediately knew she was sorry for them. Miku was always the kind gentle person, she was never mean. Even when she would occasionally get mean comments, she would still smile at them, and greet them.

Although being too kind had it's bad perks.

Miku was a person that was too kind for this world and Soma believed that. Soma swore to protect Miku from any mean comments ever since the day Miku saved Soma from his dad's scolding.

"Of the 812 students who entered our high school division last year, only 76 advanced to the second year. Incompetence and mediocrity will be mercilessly excised from the student body."

"A thousand first years will be whittled down to a hundred by next year and we can count those who will graduate from this academy on one hand."

"One of that small handful of professionals will be you!"

"That is all." said the director.

The student's faces had smirks and competitive smiles while Miku was glad the students gained their spirits back.

Soma could only shake his head on what Miku was grateful for, but she would need to learn herself.

"Finally, we'd like to introduce 2 transfer students who will be joining your ranks today." said the black haired girl.

Miku was feeling nervous about what she was going to say.

"Relax Miku, just say whatever comes to mind." said Soma.

"Alright, I'll do that. What are you going to say?" Miku asked.

"Whatever comes to my mind." said Soma laughing.

Miku couldn't help but worry, sometimes Soma would get in trouble about the things he said.

The students had surprised that they were getting 2 more students, but even more at the fact they passed the exam.

Soma started walking up to the stage while Miku stood behind Soma waiting for her turn.

"Okay, I'll keep it short. Just a few words from me." said Soma.

The students had their jaws wide open on what he just said.

"I'm Yukihira Soma. To be honest, this academy's just a stepping stone for me.  I wasn't expecting to be transferring here, but I don't plan on losing to folks who've never served a single customer."

"Anyway, what I'm getting at is that the number 1 spot belongs to me." said Soma.

Miku couldn't help but mentally facepalm, this was one of Soma's bad habits.

The students were shocked at what Soma just said, they had angry expressions.

They started throwing objects at him but an object suddenly was thrown at where Miku was standing hitting her in the shoulder.

Soma realizing that, immediately rushed over to Miku who was clutching her shoulder.

The students grew silent at the unexpected incident.

"Are you okay Miku?" asked Soma.

"I'm fine, it was just a slight bruise." replied Miku.

Immediately, Soma rushed to over to the mic,

"Whoever threw that book, come up right now!" said Soma.

Miku was surprised at Soma's sudden sentence but Miku stood up and went over to him,

"It's fine Soma, it was an accident anyways." said Miku.

"But-" before Soma could say anything else,

"It doesn't hurt anymore." said Miku cutting him off.

Soma could only sigh in defeat and go back to the seat and wait for Miku's introduction.

"Hello, I'm Hatsune Miku. I apologize for Soma's statement and just know that he doesn't mean anything bad. As for the person who threw the book and unfortunately hit me, it's fine. It doesn't hurt anymore and it already feels better."

"I look forward to the next 3 years with you all." said Miku.

Miku's voice soothed over them and calmed their anger making it seem like it was never there in the first place. Her voice was like the ocean and a calming wave washed over them and removed their stresses.

The side character felt guilty and bad since Miku was kind and forgiving. He couldn't take it anymore and rushed out of the crowd.

"I'm sorry! I was the one who hit you with the book, please punish me!" said the side character.

Miku was quite shocked that the student actually revealed themselves since she did say that person was forgiven.

"I already said it's fine though." said Miku.

"But-" before the side character could protest,

"Let the council handle it instead." said the black haired girl.

"Okay but don't do anything too harsh." said Miku with a slight concern in her voice.

The students noticed it and couldn't help but be in awe of Miku's kindness.

Unknown to Miku, a few people were interested in her.

One of them being...

.

.

.

After the introduction, Miku walked over to Soma who was saying something to Erina but walked away by the time she arrived.

"What were you guys talking about?" asked Miku.

"Nothing important, but is your shoulder okay?" asked Soma.

"Yep it's fine, it's already getting better." replied Miku truthfully.

Miku's body always healed faster than most people, it was something only known to her and mother.

The bell rung signaling it was time for class.

As Miku and Soma was walking around the hallways, Soma was earning glares from boys and girls but when they saw Miku walking behind, their gazes softened and smiled.

Miku and Soma had separate classes so they split up.

As Miku walked into her classroom, she received a few gazes and smiles from people.

Miku smiled back and the students immediately had steam coming out of their heads, she could only tilt her head in confusion.

She walked to an empty spot and waited for the class to start.

Nobody came up to her since they were too nervous, then suddenly.

"I'm Nakiri Alice, let's be friends. I already know you from your introduction so there's no need to introduce yourself."

"Just call me Alice, there's no need for formalities." said the silver haired girl.

"Oh alright, nice to meet you Alice. You can call me Miku then, we're already friends.

Thus, Miku got herself an interesting friendship...
