Demon continent Alsace in the year 291 in the month Inium on the 10 days after the shattering of the empire

Today, after nine days in Bura, they set out again. This time he sat next to Sia and Sappho on the coachman's bench so that he could observe the departure from Bura with his own eyes. Whereby he sat, rather on the lap of Sia which held him firmly so that he did not fall down.

So he could watch how they drove out of the big city gates, along with the long fields, until they disappeared in the forest. On their way to the front. In the coming days, they would arrive at another small village, as they had already arrived at so many small villages.

Until then, however, they would travel along another road made of earth. Surrounded by tall trees with man-sized bushes and ferns.

Once they were in the forest, he first took a big breath full of arcane energy. It must be due to the formation of his body that he found wild Arcane Energy more pleasant than the Arcane Energy he found in the cities or villages. It was not that he found it unpleasant, but it was not a nice feeling either, it had something of dirt or dust that stuck to you and as a result, you could not get rid of it.

While sitting comfortably on Sia's lap, he practiced pushing his senses to their limits. He does this through various exercises in which he tries to recognize various objects and estimate their distance. Another exercise was one in which he moved a stick or a stone with telekinesis and directed all his senses to it without the adult demons detecting him.

This is how he spent his days from dawn to dusk. Only interrupted by meals and his daily word exercises not that they looked like that for Sia and Sappho. Also, he wanted to avoid that he stood out too much. He had already wondered in the womb if and how he should recognize people similar to himself.

After many back and forths, he came back to the soul itself, as he had in his old life. He had searched in his old life for a way to never lose his knowledge. A fear that haunts many people, but even more so for him as a user of the Arcane Energy of the Spirit. Like most users of Arcane Energy of the Spirit, he had a photographic memory. However, in his time as a soldier, he had seen comrades wake up after a head injury without recognizing any of them.

This and the fear that his knowledge could be stolen had made him look for a way to protect his knowledge from theft and amnesia. After trying different materials, with different results, he was about to give up when he came across a text that philosophized about the "I" of a person. So what makes a person a human being and not an animal. What would let people recognize people and also that there are differences between the divine races and the monsters, as between animals and people.

In this text, something was searched for, which could explain this, after pages of wise hypotheses then also something helpful appeared. The author talked about souls, of course not an unknown concept to him. Was there after all Necromancy, the art of controlling the dead, even to bring them back to life. Mostly by capturing the soul of the victim or lucky person by a Necromancer. Even though this particular form of arcane use of the will took advantage of souls, according to ancient records, the soul was also strengthened by accumulating arcane energy.

A soul, it was said in the text, had every living being. So he had tried to use his soul as a storage medium, which he succeeded in doing.

Suddenly he froze. In an extremely unfavorable moment, Sia had just let go of him. Thus he fell from her lap and onto the bench between Sia and Sappho.

How had this escaped him, he had known that souls existed since he had stored his knowledge in his own for centuries and if the soul was his self, then he had thus stored his self in his soul, which was apparently not normal.

He didn't even get to notice how Sia picked him back up and put him right back on her lap, her questions also rolling off him. He had found a possible answer to the question of why his self had remained his self. Why he himself had remained himself.
"Wow" Which earned him questioning looks from Sia and Sappho.

"What is wow Cali?" Asked Sia, leaning over him. He became aware of his surroundings again and inevitably pointed to the huge horse in front of him.

"Do you like horses Cali?" Not really in the same way they didn't like him either. He would say that in his old lives there had been a certain respect between him and his carriage horses. Briefly, the gruesome scenario came to mind that he could have been reborn as a horse as well, which made him shudder.

"No? Are you impressed with the size?" He nods his little head. The horses the demons used were quite a bit larger than the ones he was used to from his old lives, they were also quite a bit wider. Both women laughed out loud, causing him to make a face, as Sappho would say.

"Hoho is Cali afraid of Neilos and Nia our mighty warhorses?" Broke out Sia laughing, which caused him to cross his arms. He certainly wasn't afraid of some stupid horses. Neilos the right horse, turned his head to him and looked at him as if he had heard its thoughts. He had to swallow. He was as big as a hoof of Neilos, which he thought was a sufficient reason to be afraid... to have respect for such a majestic animal as Neilos. The latter only neighed as if he were laughing.

"Don't be afraid of the two Cali, you won't find a more docile animal in the whole camp." Sappho assured him, he would believe that only when he saw it himself.

"What's that grim look on your face?" Sia asked him before tickling him. This all brought him back to reality, for a few more moments Sia tickled him and he could do nothing to resist.

The laughter of a toddler could still be heard far ahead.

The rest of the day, as well as the following ones, he tried to make souls visible or to see them with his senses. Since he suspected that he could recognize with it whether someone was like him. Of course, he could always get into someone's head, but that wasn't a solution either, even if he could already hear everything superficial, as long as he didn't shield himself from them. A problem that many young arcane users of the spirit face, which could drive them into madness. A worry he did not have in this life, nor was there much for him to learn in the field of arcane use of the spirit. With these thoughts, he had to remember that one never stops learning.

So he spent his days learning a new skill that he didn't know if it already existed or how to learn. Not that Sappho and Sia let him brood all day. They were both worried when he did not play with the toys and did not repeat the words they asked him. Since he did not want to worry the two women, whom he saw as his parents in this life, he did what they wanted him to do, besides, sometimes he did not get ahead, where such a distraction by the two or toys was already helpful.
