Chapter 3

“It’s water. Take it.”

While she was busy contemplating what to do, Lu Yuan Heng immediately handed her the bottle of water in his hand. She felt extremely grateful to God for making Lu Yuan Heng suddenly considerate. She hurriedly opened the bottle and drank. Only after did she discover that the bottle wasn’t sealed. Someone drank from this bottle before!

” I know what you’re thinking. I drank from that.”

Gu Wei Yi tightly grabbed the bottle of water. For the first time, she really wanted to pick a fight with him. But how could she dig the hole herself when he said they were on the same boat?

“No need to look at me that fierce. I had good intentions. I was afraid you’d choke.”

As he explained, she felt a lot better but she still couldn’t let it go. They definitely drank from the same bottle… Isn’t that an indirect kiss?

“Gu Wei Yi, why didn’t I know you could be unreasonable?”

“I’m not thinking about that. I’m thinking about something else.”

“It seems that I have a lot of things to think about.”

Gu Wei Yi listened to his words with her head bowed. When she wasn’t looking, Lu Yuan Heng’s mouth formed a smile, a smile that seemed bright as the sun. Then he quickly composed himself and kept a blank expression.

“It’s getting late. Are we grabbing dinner before going home?”

“You’ll see. First things first.”

What was so important that Lu Yuan Heng who should also be hungry, needed to settle it first. Could something be going on at the company…?

“Is it suitable for me to go?”

“Don’t needlessly worry. When we get there, you’ll know whether it’s suitable or not.”

When he spoke those words, his face had a stiff expression, his brows were slightly knitted together. From her observation, it seems there really is a problem.

Marrying such a complete stranger in a spur of a moment required a lot of psychological strength. She had no choice. But it was clear, he had choices and yet he picked her. What was he thinking? Gu Wei Yi pondered for a long time but couldn’t come up with anything. When he made the decision, could it be he considered my situation…?

Strictly speaking, it can’t be because of that. She wasn’t a very sharp person to begin with and whatever she had were also gone now. Now she was just penniless.

Gu Wei Yi felt a headache coming. What she needed to do the most was go and earn money. Work hard to earn money and earn some more.

 The car finally stopped in front of a small alley, Lu Yuan Heng helped her get off the car, and she immediately got off, and stood nearby a tree.

It was early evening, about the time when lanterns are first lit. She looked at how narrow the alley is and was certain the car would not  be able to go in. On both sides of the path, fragrant camphor trees were planted, it was so lush that when the wind blows, several leaves would fall from the trees and be fluttering about.

 “Let’s go in.”

 “Hmmm.”

Gu Wei Yi followed Lu Yuan Heng as his black shiny shoes stepped on the fallen leaves making a rustling sound. Under the street lamp, his silhouette looked tall on the mottled walls. From behind, with his well-proportioned figure and his well-fitted suit, he definitely looked like a ladies’ man.
