Amari sat on her bed, eyes closed as she listened to all the sounds she could hear. The sound of footsteps, the breathing of people.

Nothing managed to evade her sharp senses. The bright purple sheets made her a bit flustered because she had yet to truly understand her inner emotions at the moment.

Sure, she was now a girl, but she couldn't get rid of the fact she had the mind of a guy for most of her life. Of course, Amari didn't dwell on it for long.

Curling into a ball, Amari drifted off to sleep with a small smile on her face when she thought of Evie and Alvin, her new vampire parents.

...

"Wake up honey." A soft hand landed on Amari's stomach, patting her softly. Waking up, Amari saw a beautiful woman with wavy black hair, flawless skin, and warm green eyes gazing at her gently.

"Evie?" Rubbing her eyes, Amari sat up, or tried to, as she soon realized she was wrapped up in her sheets, making her look like an adorable caterpillar.

"Today might be a bit boring for you. We're going to an old friend first to get you a ring." Evie walked to the end of the bed and lifted up a cute frilly dress with a pair of matching shoes.

"A ring?" Seeing her stuck, Evie chuckled with a hand covering her mouth, making Amari struggle harder to escape her fabric prison.

"Mn. I daylight ring. Unless you want to go up in flames, you need to keep your ring on at all times." Evie helped Amari free and helped her dress.

"So like the rings from The Vampire Diaries?" Hearing Amari mention the show, Evie rolled her eyes but she couldn't help nodding.

"Yes... Alvin's already in the car." Amari followed Evie down to the garage where several cars were parked neatly.

"No way! That's a Lamborghini?!" Though Amari guessed her new parents had money, she finally confirmed it with her own eyes now.

It wasn't only a Lamborghini, but several other luxury cars were parked in the garage as well. Alvin sat in an SUV, probably worth more money than Amari could have previously made in a year.

"Morning." Amari chimed as she sat in the back while Evie got into the passenger seat. Pressing a button, the garage door opened.

Alvin smiled back at Amari and then drove out of the garage. Amari looked around the back seat and picked up a beautifully made phone from besides her.

"We decided to let you use that one until you can buy your own." Evie looked in the rear view mirror and smiled at Amari holding the phone carefully.

Looking outside, Amari could see the stars in the sky, yet the world outside was as bright as day in her eyes.

"Vampires have excellent vision. We can easily see even on the darkest of nights." Amari nodded when she noticed the moon still high in the sky.

"Why did we leave so early?" Amari would have probably said she felt tired being up so early before becoming a vampire, but all she felt now was boundless energy within her thin frame.

"You don't want to become a torch right?" Alvin glanced in the rear view mirror at Amari and then focused on the road.

"The sun wouldn't be kind to you without your daylight ring. Oh, after we swung by Melinda, we have to go get your identity registered, it won't take long." Evie spoke softly, yet Amari could hear her every word.

"Miranda is a witch with a bit of a temper, but she's not a bad person." Amari lifted an eyebrow at Alvin's sentence, wondering if Miranda would be an old woman with a hunched back.

Time flew and they were in the countryside, pulling over on to a small dirt road leading into the woods. After driving on the slightly bumpy road for a while, a house slowly came into view.

"Remember not to touch anything. She has a lot of cursed objects just laying around. Alvin, remember when you picked up the small doll?" Evie teasingly spoke, catching Amari's interests.

Seeing his daughter falling into her mother's schemes, Alvin sighed and spoke with a bland tone. "I picked up the doll and Miranda started to chase after me with a broom stick."

Recalling how furious Miranda was, Alvin couldn't help but wonder what the doll was used for while Evie laughed softly on the side, sending Alvin a look of mock pity.

"What did the doll do?" Amari had never come into contact with magic, so she was curious as to what and why her father was chased around.

Imagining the calm and collected Alvin running from an old witch with a broom made Amari giggle. Alvin let out a sigh seeing his family laugh at his expense.

"We're here." Alvin turned the car off and got out. Evie and Amari followed Alvin to the doorstep of the old yet well maintained house.

When the trio arrived on the porch, cluttered with different kinds or strange plants, Evie rang the bell while Alvin backed up slightly.

Amari could hear it, the footsteps, the sound of breathing, and the beating of a heart. Amari couldn't help but think back to last night when she had just drank blood for the first time after becoming a vampire.

"Hello? How may I hel-" A young woman with glasses dressed in casual clothes and short red hair answered the door and then froze upon seeing her guests.

"Hello Miranda." Evie smiled and prevented the door from being pulled closed by the panicking witch. "I already apologized for chasing your husband, why are you here?!"

"I want a ring for my daughter." Miranda coughed loudly and looked at Evie, then at Amari who gazed back with curiousity and excitement.

"You had a daughter? Wait, I don't have much materials left for making a ring." Miranda once again tried to close the door, but Evie didn't budge an inch.

"What a coincidence, I brought the materials myself." Alvin ran back to the car and retrieved a closed briefcase and reappeared next to Evie in a moment.

"The money is inside as well." Alvin gave the case to Miranda who realized that she didn't have a choice. Evie and Alvin walked behind her and entered the house.

"You can come in." Amari heard Miranda's voice and walked in to the house as well. While Amari didn't enter out of politeness, she didn't realize she had to have permission to enter a house.

Well, this chapter was boring. I'll write another one... .-.
