I know this is wishful thinking but you would be much better off leaving the first volume public and then paywalling everything after it because as it stands I have very little ability to actually judge whether this story is something Id spend money to see as I have for some others.

@Jamminrabbit It seems you don't know what public domain means. Public domain is a work that has fallen out of copyright entirely not just something available online for free. It means anyone can reupload or copy or even sell copies. "Public domain" is a specific legal term. Long story short you actually can just leave it up here if you want. At least put it on itch io or somthing please.
@TheAkashicTraveller I'm not taking that risk. Amazon has taken down my kindle books until I've deleted existing chapters from the web before, so I don't know what to tell you.
@Jamminrabbit I'm not surprised, it is amazon, it's part of why I wish you wouldn't use them for this. At least you have it all on patreon.
@Jamminrabbit You should have made it clear here that this restriction only applies to Kindle Unlimited/KDP books, not all books on Amazon. The good news is that it's basically free to the millions of avid readers who already have KU. It's a great value tbh. Agree with others though, that you should have stub chapters here. KU let's you have a certain percentage of the book published on these sites.
