A/N: Y’all must be tired of dealing with these types of protagonists but so am I and so is Jun!

Because of what transpired on planet Z379, those released by the scientists were given a week of vacation. As for ones discovered to be carrying the new type of Zerg, the Parasites, they were all sent to quarantine for further research and analysis.

Rain Linden resided in the military academy’s dorms, so he didn’t have another “home” to return to. Although the Linden residence wouldn’t allow him entry, there was still his mother, Eva Blanca, who was in much need of a visit from Jun, the “beta.” If anyone knew anything, it would be her. The only problem was he never inherited the original’s memories so he was lost to where his mother's residence was located.

Thank goodness for terminals, and the fact that the original Rain Linden kept his mother’s address saved! Using that, Jun boarded the sky rail to make his way to his mother’s. As a result of all the excitement from the past few days, he hadn’t had time to think about Azazel or Elior. He wondered who they were, when they would show, or how he would find them in this world.

Earth’s population had been just below ten billion, but Capital Star’s population was at least 15 billion, and that was just the capital, let alone all the other planets within the Empire. The world of the interstellar age was too vast, but he had a feeling they would be nearby.

An hour later, Jun arrived at the neighborhood of his mother’s residence, set in Sector 23, which was on the outskirts of Capital Star’s Central City. Just as he was about to knock on the door, it flung open and he was snatched inside by a pair of slender, pale arms.

“Quick, baby, get inside!”

When anyone other than Elior used the endearment “baby” it was often uncomfortable and intolerable, but for some reason, he didn’t feel that way about his mother.

“Mother, what’s the matter?”

“Mother!” The woman, a slender beauty with long silky, wavy black hair and a pair of bright green eyes, exclaimed. “Don’t call me that. You never call me that. Call me ‘mama’ like you always do, baby.”

After a brief moment of awkward silence and with some reluctance, Jun responded: “… Mama.”

“That’s my boy! Now hurry!” With one last glance around to guarantee no one else was in the area, Eva Blanca slammed the door shut. “Oh, it’s terrible, it’s terrible.” She bemoaned while pulling at her hair and pacing around.

“Calm down… Mama.”

“Calm down!? How can I calm down? That evil man will probably come for you. And after all the effort I’ve spent trying to make him look the other way for years!”

“Are you talking about my father?”

“Yes, that villain!” What mistress? She was a rape victim and had been indiscriminately marked by that asshole. The only good thing that resulted from her relationship with that man was her precious baby, Rain, who thankfully resembled her and bore no similarities to that bastard whatsoever. “Baby, baby, my poor baby, you have to be extra careful from now on.”

“Mama.” The more he said it, the more natural it felt. “Please explain to me what’s going on.”

“Oh dear, oh dear. Fuck…”

After several more minutes of cursing and muttering, Eva Blanca finally settled down enough to explain everything to Jun. The truth was Rain Linden wasn’t a beta at all.

‘I knew it… It's never a beta!’

|That’s not necessarily true, Host.|

|Am I not a prime example?|

|…|

And so, System 00 went back to his corner in the recesses of Jun’s mind.

Rain Linden was not a beta but a recessive omega. Simply put, his omega genes were inactive. When Eva Blanca was informed of this, she asked the doctor to keep it a secret. Seeing that his attributes were so poor, the doctor didn’t have a problem with assigning Rain as a beta. Who knew that his attributes would change to such an extent 18 years later?

Recessive omegas were special in that if their genes were to ever be activated, they would have the highest fertility rate of 100%. At present, a dominant omega like Skye Lennox held the highest fertility rate of 85% and this was only during heat. In regards to dominant omega, it only meant their fertility rates were higher than regular omegas.

Heat was a monthly thing for most omegas, but it resulted in the uncontrollable release of pheromones that drove exposed alphas crazy with a desire to impregnate and mark the omegas. Most of the time, the effect can be lessened by the use of inhibitors, but like birth control, some omegas suffered bad side effects and disliked using inhibitors. As a result, omegas were often victims of rape even if there were protection services in place.

The best way to resolve the issue of heat was to become a marked omega, which would ease the lustful pain caused by heat and make their pheromones only affect the alpha that left the mark, but it didn’t prevent them from going into heat every month or so. In some sense, being a marked omega was another form of torture if the alpha wasn’t committed. As for a recessive omega, only the strongest alpha could awaken their omega genes.

If it were discovered that the current Rain with such high attributes was a recessive omega, all single alphas would come after him and all single omegas would resent him.

“So you see, baby, you just have to avoid all alphas from now on!”

Easier said than done. How exactly was he supposed to do that? The military was full of alphas! Technically, he could still quit the military academy as he wasn’t considered officially enlisted, so that wouldn’t count as deserting. However, would they still let him go now that they’d discovered his “true” attributes? It was worth a try because he didn’t want to experience heat…

“Are you sure no one else knows but the doctor?”

“Yes, yes, yes.”

“How do you know he won’t leak that information?”

“Baby, did you forget? He’s your uncle and I’m his darling little sister! Do you think he would ever give that evil man any advantage over me?”

“… I suppose not?”

“Don’t worry, baby. Your uncle destroyed your initial gender assessment years ago. Now give your mama a hug, I need it.”

Jun hugged his mother and she sighed. Struck by the sweet, comforting scent unique to loving mothers, Jun’s nose stung a little. How long had it been since he'd last smelled this familiar scent, felt this familiar feeling? He felt he needed some… Milk tea! Did they have that in the interstellar world? How could they not? It was just tea, creamer, and sugar. People still drank tea right? Right?

After dinner with his mother, Jun returned to the military academy and submitted his withdrawal request before retiring to his single dorm room to sleep. Whether or not it'd be approved he had to wait and see. In the worst-case scenario, he could just run away. That was his expertise.

At the same time, in one of Capital Star’s battleships that were on a return route, a man was rewatching the recording of Jun’s fight for the nth time. On the screen next to the recording was the face of another man.

“Not watching the recording again are you?” The man on the screen asked.

“Don’t tell me you don't plan to recruit him to the Second Army.”

“I am, but at least I’m not wasting time rewatching that recording.”

“In any case, he'll be coming to my First Army.”

“You do realize he’s the Marshal’s son? If anything, he’ll be going to the Fifth Army.”

“We’ll see about that.”

At that moment, another screen popped up, this one displaying a woman. “General, Colonel Lennox of the Third Army is on the line and is asking to speak with you. Shall I put him through?”

“No.” The man closed the screen and grunted. That person had been pestering him for many days now, ever since the Z379 mission ended.

“You too?” The man on the screen spoke again. He had also been constantly bothered by Colonel Lennox the past few days. “Do you know him?”

“No.”

“And here I was thinking the cold-faced General had finally found someone.”

“You’re one to talk.”

“You’re right.” The man on screen laughed. “I best return to work or my First Lieutenant will cry. Don’t watch the recording too much.”

The man nodded in response and hung up the call, returning his attention to the recording.

Back on Capital Star, at the Third Army’s base, Skye Lennox slammed his fists on his table in frustration. The plot had gone awry, and it was all because of that Rain Linden’s fault. An important plot point had been stolen from him.

He, Skye Lennox, should have been the one to alert the military of the new Zerg type, and in response, attained the attention of male lead #4, General Cyrus Albert of the Second Army, and male lead #5, General Niall Atlas of the First Army. The way the harem route worked was that he had to first conquer the easier targets before he could reach these two, the strongest alphas in the entire Empire.

It didn’t make sense for Rain Linden to ruin the plot unless he was also a transmigrator! Was that why?

Similarly frustrated by having his plans foiled was Marshal Linden, who had just been informed of Rain Linden’s withdrawal request.

“Withdraw from the academy!? I dare him to try!”

With several people already targeting him for various reasons, Jun slept relatively peacefully that night, exhausted. In the morning, he turned on his terminal to access the Star Network. From what his mother said, only the strongest alpha could awaken his omega genes, so he didn’t necessarily have to avoid all alphas, just the strongest one.

Jun also didn’t want to quit the military academy, and he doubted he could. If Death was already on his way to meet him, might as well meet him face first. What better way to have dates with Death than to stay in the military? In the case his withdrawal request was denied, he had to enforce some defensive measures against turning into an omega.

What idiot omega would join the military filled with alphas? Oh right, the protagonist who wanted to escape the fate of an omega by rising on top of the alphas. But by doing what he did—creating a harem for himself—was he truly overcoming the fate of an omega?

What was so bad about being an omega anyway? Jun didn’t have a problem with it, but he also didn’t want the possibility of having to fight several alphas, who were always at a minimum of A grade in attributes, while under the influence of a heat period. Though he trusted his willpower, he couldn’t trust others, alpha or not.

With these concerns in mind, he entered into the search bar “galaxy’s strongest alpha” on the Star Network. The result was a forum thread titled: Who’s the strongest? General Atlas versus General Albert. Truly the “A” in alpha! Not thinking much of it, Jun entered the thread.

‘Fuck me.’

Jun took a sharp inhale. Weren’t these two alphas his men? He should have seen it coming from several light years away. After all, they were often powerful figures in every world. How could he have been so foolish? Now he had to bite his tongue for berating the protagonist earlier.

A/N: Obviously lol, who else would they be?
