I woke up feeling exhausted. I picked up my phone to turn my alarm off and noticed a few messages from Jason.

“Wait! Wait! Wait! Wait! DON’T GO TO SLEEP YET!!!”

“ARE YOU ASLEEP?!?!”

“NO!!!l”

“..What’s with this guy?” I sat my phone back down and rolled out of bed.

As soon as I opened my door, I was lulled by the smell of delicious breakfast. As I was walking down the hallway I finally encountered Miyuki. She had just come out of her room.

Miyuki had a tired expression, but once she noticed me a frown appeared on her face. She turned her heel and started walking towards the kitchen.

This might be my chance.

“Good morning.” I announced as I appeared next to her.

She didn’t say anything, only throwing me a hateful glare.

Well.. this is unpleasant. “What do you think she’s cooking? It smells sugary, like cream or something.”

“Can you please stop talking to me?” Miyuki snapped back.

Okay. Ow. That hurt. “Why are you so mad at me?”

Her eyes shot open and she looked at me as if I was crazy before she quickly turned back around.

I blocked her path and she bumped into me. “Move!”

“No.” I stated. “Not until you talk to me.”

“I’m talking to you now!” Miyuki stomped her foot in frustration. “So move!”

Miyuki tried to push me out of the way, but she simply didn’t have the strength to. The most she could do was force me to take a small step back. “Miyuki..”

“Don’t call my name like you care!” Her eyes watered and her face turned bright red. “You don’t care about anyone, except for that bitch!”

My eyes shot open and my mouth flapped open, but nothing came out.

Tears streamed down her cheeks and she started dry heaving. “What happened to you?! Ever since you started going to school you changed! I don’t even know who you are anymore!”

“I…”

Miyuki started grunting as she held her head and bent down.

“Are you okay?!” I went to touch Miyuki’s shoulder, but she jumped up and pushed me out of the way.

Miyuki ran to her room and opened the door before slamming it shut behind her.

I stood in silence as I watched her door.

And it seems like the situation is exactly like I thought. The story didn’t just start once I came to this world. At least not for Miyuki. She had a brother. And I took him from her and I can’t give him back. She’s right. I’m not her brother. Just a selfish fraud.

If this is what Miyuki is going through, then what is Kenzie going through?

As I made my way downstairs, I walked into the kitchen. Kenzie was making what appeared to be cinnamon and cream pancakes with turkey sausage.

“Oh you’re awake!” Kenzie announced happily. “Could go wake up everyone else? Breakfast is going to be done in a few minu- Ah”

I wrapped my arms around Kenzies waist and nuzzled my head into her neck. “Thank you.”

“I..for..what?!” Kenzie squirmed and stuttered. She was so flustered I could almost hear her cheeks reddening.

“For being a kind, amazing, and beautiful person.” I answered. “Thank you for being you.”

“I..thank you Jeff.” Kenzie’s voice cracked as she answered. She grabbed my arms and relaxed as I held her.

I can’t replace their ‘Jeff’ but I can be good to them.

I reluctantly let go of Kenzie. “I’ll go wake everyone up. And if you need any help, let me know.”

“Sure..” Kenzie muttered as she went back to cooking with a faint blush on her cheeks and a slight smile.

A smile appeared on my face before I turned around to go get Saya.

I made it to Saya’s room and I moved on the door before she said come in.

Once I opened the door I found Saya lying on her back rubbing her stomach.

“Are you okay?” I asked.

“No.” Saya growled. “I just came on.”

I furrowed my brow. “On?”

“My period you retard.” Saya whipped back. “You can be so damn stupid sometimes. I swear-“

I lightly kissed Saya on the lips. “Shut up cranky.”

“Asshole.” Saya turned the other way to hide her blush.

I rubbed Saya’s stomach before I started heading for the door. “I don’t know if you’re hungry or not, but I’m going to grab you a plate.”

“..thank you.” Saya muttered.

I went back to the kitchen and made a plate for Saya and Miyuki.

“Two?” Kenzie asked when she saw me making the plates.

“Well as you know Miyuki doesn’t want to come out of her room. And Saya is on her period.” I answered as I steadily balanced the plates in my hands.

“Damnit. Mine should be coming soon.” Kenzie sighed.

It must suck to be a woman sometimes. “Sorry.”

“Don’t be. It’s the gift of womanhood.” Kenzie responded as she grabbed the bridge of her nose. “There’s a heating pad in the closet. Give that to her too.”

“Gotcha!” I announced as I left the kitchen with the plates.

I went to the closet and grabbed the heating pad before heading to Saya’s room. I gave her the plate and the heating pad before I went upstairs to Miyuki’s room.

I knocked on Miyuki’s door, to no answer. So I sat down her plate in front of the door. “I know you’re mad at me and.. I deserve it. I’m sorry. I’m leaving your food in front of your door.”

There still was no response. With a bitter smile I turned my heel and left.

I went back downstairs and ate breakfast with Kenzie.

As I watched Kenzie much down on her food, a sudden thought came to me. “What do you normally do when we’re gone?”

“Huh?” Kenzie paused, her for just short of her mouth. “Where is this coming from?”

“I’m just curious.” I think I’ve been severely lacking in my care for the people in my life. Kenzie being one of the main ones.

“Well…” Kenzie made an embarrassed face. “Nothing much. I’m just a boring old lady.”

“No, you’re not.” I responded. “Seriously.”

“I am serious.” Kenzie laughed. “I just watch tv and go to the gym. I used to paint but..” Kenzie stopped mid sentence as if she just realized something. “Why are you asking this? You never asked before.”

“I want to know more about you.” I answered.

Kenzie’s eyes shot open and a smirk appeared on her face. “Are you trying to flirt with me?”

“Maybe. Is it working?” I smirked.

A blush appeared on her cheeks and she took a deep breath as she looked away.

I couldn’t help but smile at Kenzie’s girly display. “How about we do something this weekend?”

“Like what?” Kenzie asked.

“I don’t know..” I thought for a moment before it hit me. “You just said that you like painting, right? We could go to one of those places to paint fruit and stuff.”

Kenzie made an awkward face. “Jeff. You don’t have..”

“I want to spend time with you.” I interjected. “Is that okay?”

Kenzie looked at me in silent contemplation, struggling to hold back a smile. “Yes.”

“Okay! It’s a promise!” I yelled, my excitement getting the best of me.

A beautiful smile blossomed on Kenzie’s face as she looked at me. “It’s a promise.”

I finished my breakfast with Kenzie and headed out for school. Not before saying goodbye to Miyuki and Saya though. Miyuki refused to come out of her room and Kenzie was a little upset, but since it’s Friday and Miyuki has perfect attendance so she let it go. Saya on the other hand is taking a day off seeing as to how her period is pretty bad right now.

I hugged Kenzie one last time and planted a firm kiss on her cheeks before I left for school.

“Stop flirting with me!” Kenzie screamed as I closed the door behind myself.

The cold wind blew, kicking the colorful leaves on the ground into the sky. A testament to fall. I shivered as I snuggled into my jacket.

“Damn I feel lonely.” I mused aloud as I made my way to the train station.

Shortly after arriving at school. I was made aware again of Jennifer missing.

“Hey!” Jason came out of nowhere and embraced me with a tight hug.

Was he waiting at the gates for me?

I peeled him off of me. “It’s good to see you too.”

“..yeah. It’s good to see you too.” Jason took a step back, looking me over. “Is everything okay?”

“Uh. Yeah.” Where the hell did that come from?

“It’s just..” Jason blinked a few times in confusion. “You're not mad??”

“No.” I shrugged. “You’re just happy to see me, right?”

“Right..” Jason answered warily.

“Alright let’s go.” I walked past him as I headed to the building. “I hope you’re ready for today. I wish I could skip to see Jennifer faster.”

“Yeah..” Jason replied as he followed after me.

What? I can be nice sometimes.

Before we could enter the building. A short girl with twin ponytails and dark brunette hair with a red streak in the front blocked our path. She had light brown eyes and despite the frown on her face, she still looked cute like a small animal.

“Fight me!” The girl declared as she pointed at..

“Me?” Jason asked.

“Yes!” She screamed. “I’m not going to let you hurt Rebecca anymore!”

A circle started to form, as if people were actually waiting for a fight to start.

“What's happening?” I asked while looking out of the corner of my eye at Jason.

Jason didn’t respond. He just stared at the girl in front of us with a blank stare.

This seemed to encore the girl. She took off running towards us while screaming at the top of her lungs.

I looked at Jason and he stood still emotionless.

The girl got close enough to hit Jason and she pulled her fist back to punch him. Jason smoothly sidestepped out of the way, and the girl swung and hit empty air. She tripped over Jason’s foot and flew into the air.

“Shit!” I tried to catch her, but unfortunately I was too slow and only managed to soften her landing a little..

The girl landed face first on the ground and skidded for a second. She sat up and burst into tears right away. Though it wasn’t surprising. Her mouth and nose were bleeding and she scraped her arms.

“Kylie!” One of the girls screamed as she broke through the crowd.

The girl ran up to Kylie and started wiping her face with a napkin from her purse.

Before I could process the situation, Jason snatched me up and dragged me away.

“What are you doing?” I smacked his hand away.

“We’re making a scene. And if we stay we might get in trouble.” Jason responded as he kept walking.

“Yeah.. but-“

Jason turned to me with the same blank stare as before. “It’s no big deal.”
