Aliel was walking in the middle of Newbie Village 21. Unlike when Aliel first logged in, the streets now only had 2 or 3 players talking with NPC. Aliel didn’t look at them and went to the blacksmith. She wanted to fix her equipment that lost durability after hunting for 4 hours.
“The monster spawn rate is too random. To think I need 4 hours to reach level 3. Usually, in the other game, the players just need around 3 hours to get to level 5. I am lucky to meet with Rare monster that dropped weapon and got a title though.”
Aliel entered the blacksmith to look for the NPC. The NPC was standing behind a counter and greeted Aliel when she entered the blacksmith.
“Welcome! What do you need in this blacksmith?” A muscular NPC wearing clothes with rolled-up sleeves shouted.
“I’m here to repair my equipment, can you do that?” Aliel unequipped her armor and weapon. She gave them to the Blacksmith’s NPC.
“That’ll be 3 coppers coin.” Aliel takes out 3 copper coins and gives them to the Blacksmith’s NPC. After receiving the money, the NPC went towards the door behind him bringing Aliel’s armor and weapon.
After the door closed, the sound of hitting metal could be heard. After the sound stopped, this time Aliel hear the sound of a sewing machine.
“Damn, they had a sewing machine in the blacksmith?” Aliel was surprised by the details that Atlas put into the game. The NPC’s behavior, the sound inside the game, and all other details. Aliel even started thinking that this was not inside the game, but a different world.
“That’s pushing too far.” As Aliel said that, the door was opened and the NPC put Aliel’s weapon and armor on top of the counter.
“Here, thanks for your patronage!” The NPC said and smiled.
Aliel take her weapon and armor and equipped them. She looked at the weapon and armor status and saw that the durability was restored.
“Good, now let’s search a place to sell this Kick Rabbit’s fur alongside the Large Kick Rabbit’s fur.” Aliel said out loud and walked to the exit.
“Wait! Did you just said Large Kick Rabbit’s fur?” The Blacksmith’s NPC shouted at Aliel.
Aliel stopped and turned around, she could smell a quest from the Blacksmith’s NPC.
‘Oho, is it a quest?’ Aliel smiled and approached the Blacksmith’s NPC slowly. She put her hands on the counter and asked the NPC.
“Yes I have it, what about it?”
“Did you hunt it by yourself?” The NPC slammed the counter and leaned towards Aliel.
With the NPC’s face so close, Aliel backed away. “Of course I am. The proof is my weapon and armor that I asked you to repair earlier! It was that bad because I fought the Large Kick Rabbit by myself.”
“That’s true.” The NPC backed away and crossed his arms. “Then I have a request. If you can fight Large Kick Rabbit by yourself, then you must be able to complete this. I will give you something equal if you complete my request. Are you willing to accept my request?” The blacksmiths hold a hint of anticipation on his face.
“May I ask what your request is?” Aliel questioned.
The blacksmith looked around the store and said. “Did you notice that the weapon and armor in this store are too few for a store this large?”
Aliel looked around the store for a while and nodded. At first, Aliel thought that a store in the Newbie Village will, of course, had a little variety of weapons and armors. But after listening to the blacksmith, she began to think differently.
‘Atlas made this game with realism as the main sell point. If I think about it, doesn’t that mean a Newbie Village is no different than any other area? There is no limit to what’s available in the store. So maybe it’s not strange if the blacksmith originally had a lot of variety of weapons, and something made him unable to supply it anymore.’
Aliel analyzed the situation, if what Atlas informed about the realism aspect of this game. Then it’s not strange if players could find a top-tier weapon or armors in the Newbie Village.
After analyzing the situation of the store, Aliel asked the blacksmith, “Yes that is strange, is there any problem that caused the store to be this empty?”
“The shop was never this empty, this situation had been caused by a certain monster. This monster blocked our ore supply, that’s why I can’t make any new weapon or armor. Traveler, could you kill the monsters for us?” The blacksmith’s NPC bowed her head to Aliel.
“Of course, I will get rid of those monsters for you.” Answered Aliel. The blacksmith’s NPC raised his head and smiled after hearing Aliel’s answer.
"Thank you!" He said.
A window appeared in front of Aliel right after that.
【System: Quest “Blacksmith’s Request” Accepted.
Kill ‘Mad Rock’ that infested in the Village’s mine.
Mad Rock Killed 0/50
Rewards: ??
Failure Penalty: Decreasing Villager’s favorability.】
‘Hmm? There is favorability too? But, I never get any of it until now. Is it a hidden stat?’ Aliel thought.
“Traveler, you will not be able to defend Mad Rock’s attack with equipment like that. Give me your Large Kick Rabbit’s fur, I will make you a leather armor.” Said the blacksmith’s NPC.
‘Is it a bonus reward? A leather armor, I guess it’s better than the newbie armor. There is no harm getting new armor right now.’ Aliel took out the Large Kick Rabbit’s fur from her inventory and give it to the blacksmith’s NPC.
“Here.”
The blacksmith’s NPC took the Large Kick Rabbit’s fur and inspect it. He nodded in satisfaction and said. “Come back here in 2 hours, your armor will be ready then.” The blacksmith’s NPC entered the back room again after he said that, leaving Aliel alone.
“Well, 50 Mad Rock as my first quest. From its name, I guess it’s a rock-type monster? I better check it right now to analyze its attack pattern.” Aliel exited the blacksmith and went outside the village.
Her destination was the Village’s Mine, right now the Mine is one of the most popular spots amongst the player. Especially amongst the production players that wanted to get an ore.
When Aliel reached the Mine, the Mine was crowded by players. They blocked the Mine entrance, causing Aliel unable to enter it.
“Damn it, they are everywhere. Should I try to find another entrance?”
Aliel walked away from the Mine and went along the mountain. She tried to find another Mine’s entrance. After walking for around 20 minutes, Aliel found a track. The track seemed like caused by something heavy being dragged.
“What is this? The grass was trampled by something. Could it be?” Aliel had some suspicion about the track. She decided to follow the track to find where the track leads to.
“Bingo!” At the end of the track, Aliel found a small cave.
The cave was hidden by a rock formation, if Aliel didn’t found the track, maybe she will need a lot of time to find it.
“Let’s check it real quick, what sort of monster Mad Rock is.”
Aliel stealthily entered the cave, the cave entrance is 2 meters in height, which means the Mad Rock will be smaller than 2 meters or they are flexible enough to enter the cave by crouching. She cautiously searching the cave, analyzing every rock that she had found. The hallway of the cave was 3 meters in height and 4 meters wide, enough to swing a sword freely.
“Where is the Mad Rock?” After advancing a bit deeper into the cave, Aliel arrived at a wide room with a high ceiling. In the wide room, there were a lot of rocks lying around.
Aliel tried to analyze the rock and a text appeared above the rock.
***
[Mad Rock](Common Monster)
Level 5
HP 450
***
“Mad Rock, I finally found it. But they are level 5, and their numbers. This is bad, I need to think about how to deal with them.”
The number of rocks lying around the room was at least 40 to 50. Aliel analyzed some of the rocks and they all were a monster, Mad Rocks.
“Their size is big, my chance to beat them lies in this hallway. Can I dig a hole to trap them here?”
Aliel unsheathed her sword and stabbed it to the ground. She used her sword as a shovel and tried to dig the ground. Aliel tried it one time and successfully scooped out the dirt.
“Aha! With this, the hunt will be easier.”
Aliel then continued to dig the hallway’s ground until it was 2 meters deep. After getting the result she wanted, she jumped out from the ground and sighed in relief.
“That took me an hour. Now, let’s bash some rock to finish this quest!! But before that, let’s add my unused point to DEX.”
Aliel put her unused points to DEX, her movement speed instantly increased from 1.4 to 2.6. She planned to make use of her speed to bait the Mad Rock one by one and lure them to the pit.
“I’m ready! Let’s go~”
"Damn, they had a sewing machine in the blacksmith?" Aliel was surprise
A blacksmith -> a person who makes and repairs things in iron by hand
A smithy -> a blacksmith's workshop; a forge.
A blacksmith containing a sewing machine -> a person who made a huge mistake and should seek medical attention immediately
Thank you for this chapter!

Achievement Unlocked!: <Brain Over Brawn>
The only difference between tge races, aside from their appearances, is the early stat bonus...no race-specific skills, flaws, positive traits, level up bonus, or other things...for a game that is supposed to be really great, this is frankly a real big flaw
For the information, the game name is The New Horizon. And it was still released with no update whatsoever. Usually MMORPG had no other feature aside for bonus stats for other race when it was first released, and they will add more content as the game progresses
@RaizarP ??? If you are talking about irl then you are wrong...mmorpg irl gives at least race specific skills, equips, n class since 15-20 yrs ago...i remember playing things like Tantra, Rising Force, Perfect World, WOW, Lineage etc
If you are talking about this game, then it is really confusing, earlier it is said that all mmo in the story are perfect since begining n rarely they update them, it is also said that new horizon is already perfect BUT will be updated to make it even more perfect...
Yet now you said the that further improvement will have to wait for the update??? It is obvious from the begining the race bonus is flawed,,,if the game is already perfect from begining how can they miss such a flaw??? Why they wait for update to fix the flaw if they can fix it BEFORE the release??? Unless the developer is incompetent, those flaws are deliberate...for what reason? Why call the game perfect despite such glaring flaw?
@Domon bro, can you wait for any further chapters? you have only read for 4 chapters, the world building was not even finished yet...
I dont really know how to say, you are free to have your opinion, but I said the game had just opened.
The player had yet discovered about the bonus and the other. Even the MC was surprised by how different the games from the others.
This is why I had always said to wait for future chapters. Slowly, and more explanation would be given.
Info dump is not good, you know? It's boring
@RaizarP and im just pointing that aside from initial stat point bonus there is no other diff between races...
Leveling up bonus=none,,,all races simply get stat points that can be alocated freely,,,like maybe u can make so that an elf get 2pts in magic aside from the usual stat points, while human got 1pts in str n con for example...surely u r not saying that as the player explore more they will unlock something that gives each race level up bonus? That is simply weird,,,at this point only update can fix that since it is a fundamental system problem
In regard to class, there are only 4 base class n unknown advance class hinted by the note when she gets the spear...and all races can choose the same 4classes,,,no race-specific class...but it is alright, u can just make it so that they need to progress to unlock more classes
Race-specific skills?positive negative traits? Etc? You should ve gotten them the moment you choose your race,,,like a beastkin naturaly born with better senses than humans, maybe even natural night vision...but there is none of those...r u going to say they need to do a quest to get those??? That is like saying u need to do a quest if you want to use your eyes to see, despite being born with complete eyes
Look i get it that you r saying there still many things undiscovered, many room for developement etc...however there are things that are supposed to be present FROM THE VERY BEGINING n this game is lacking those things,,,surely u know what im trying to say? Any gamer should be able to see the logic behind this...even if u r going to say this game is different, more realistic etc,,, from the start the game is already unrealistic like what is the point in having 3 different races if their capabilities n playstyle are not that much different from each other? Like a cat should be a cat, they are different from human from the moment they are born, they dont need to go on an adventure or wait for update to get 4legs, tail or night vision etc
@Domon Let's just say this here.
The game didn't offer all information to the player and let the player to discover it itself.
MC would discover a lot about the race that she choose after playing for a while, and so the other too. There is indeed A DIFFERENCE FROM EACH RACE FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, but it was up to players to find it.
It seems you misunderstood my wording, so I will state it clearly.
THE DIFFERENCE EXISTED since the beginning, it just wasn't discovered YET. As I said, INFO DUMPING ISN'T GOOD. IT'S BORING
@RaizarP info dumping is boring but no info whatsoever is wrong...at the very least there should ve the barest minimum info such as : "beastkin is blessed with sharp senses" or some other hints so that the player know what they are getting into, the way it is currently, the player are going in blind, what if the race they choose is not to their satisfaction after they discover the hidden info?
Someone choose elf because they want to be beautiful like those in the movies only to find out that elf gets fat quickly if they dont regulary go out hunting,,,,just for example of course, but that is basically what is going on here, if they choose a race that they dont like due to the lack of info at the begining they will be forced to restart everything all over or continue playing as a character they dont like,,,maybe that is something good or exciting in your opinion, maybe you are trying to be different n creative with the whole hidden info thingy, but i dont know, it is like choosing which girl to chase after only to find out she is a trap because her long dress, make up, etc make it difficult to tell, lack of info u see
So yeah basically the developer who got this whole idea of hidding CRITICAL info must be nuts, because it will affect the player's playstyle in bad n unwelcome way if they are not satisfied with the hidden features, especially the pros...if this game is irl there will be a lot of complaints, a lot of apologizing in press conference, a lot of emergency updates, a lot of in-game compensation to prevent players from leaving the game, nose-dive in stock price, well u name it
@Domon Because the developer is NUTS. They let the player to explore themselves, if they don't like their race then they need to delete it and start againt from the scratch.
They wanted to make a game with senses of realism, so the player NEEDS to explore it themselves and only gave a few informations.
That was why, guild existed with information gathering squad in this game later.
I made this the way I wanted it to be, if you don't like it, fine. I'm not forcing people to like it.
Look, in the real, no information was given to you before you discover them yourself. Like from your parents, books, TV, internet. The game work like that, the developers just gave the player a few information.
Like Beastman got bonus AGI stat, that mean they excel in speed and they had great senses to detect the enemies.
They just gave a small clue like that and didn't said "Oh the beastman excel in strength, you should use greatsword as a beastman" The game that I made in this novel didn't work like that.
Differeniate the game in IRL and the game that I made in this novel. As I wrote before, this game wanted the player to feel that the game is a REAL DIFFERENT WORLD, with no information given, the players must find the nook and cranny while talking with the NPC to gain more information.
I think players, even more the veterans ones would understand that if they got bonus strength, then that race had the advantage to be a warrior. Human was free to allocate the points, that mean human was all-rounder.
Basically, the GAME DEVELOPERS ARE MAD PEOPLE WHO WANTED TO CREATE DIFFERENT WORLD. They wouldn't give an information freely from NPC. The player must seeks them themselves
@RaizarP i have no problem with exploring n finding details as they play the game,,,rpg is like that if u know everything from the start that is like using game guide, efficient but no fun,,, my problem is with the lack of info during character creation in regard to the races since they are critical info that will affect the players the whole time n unlike with everything else, once you choose the wrong race there is no changing it except maybe with mall item or starting over with a new character,,,n no sane company will do what they are doing in this story if they dont want to go bankrupt...
But since u r blatantly saying that the players who got problems can just delete n start over from zero or quit the game then i have nothing more to say, at least u realize that if this is real life then there is a real risk of this stunt causing the downfall of the company n that the posibility of a real life game company adopting such policy is very small n unlikely
