While it hasn’t been mentioned before, Jack lacks any vocal cords, the only thing he can do to communicate vocally is through his tongues and the tightness of his throat. And in situations like these, Jack really wished he had some vocal cords, as much as roaring could convey, you can’t exactly do a ‘Whoops, sorry, didn’t mean to encroach’ roar, and not one coming from something that is almost double the height of your fortress. “Well, here we go again.”

Atop the walls are what appear to be bipedal bats, and while it’s hard to tell with their inhuman faces, it’s safe to say they’re frightened, some wear tight fitting robes, while others wear metal vests, but whichever uniform they were wearing, their wings were on full display, the fingers at the end seeming much more hand-like then normal bats, they were also various shades of dark blue and grey. Recovering from their shock, the creatures scatter about, some flying towards the triangular building, others heading out leftward, and some brave souls stayed on the wall, watching Jack’s every move.

While all this is going on, Jack is still very far away “Well, I suppose this time I’ll take the initiative, I really didn’t like being ambushed last time.” With that memory fresh in his mind, Jack started sprinting towards the fortress, getting down on all fours and charging his breath weapon.

Seeing Jack charging towards them did not qualm their terror, his mouth starting to glow was not exactly helping either, -but as knights- they had a duty. While some of the younger knights shivered in their wings, the eldest started flying up, grabbing their swords and bows in their claws, a few of those in robes that had stayed behind now brought their weapons out, staffs and wands in an assortment of shapes and materials, and with them, started weaving magic.

As Jack got within firing distance, he slowed to a walk and made a small mental map of their wall, then fired, sweeping his breath from left to right through the wall, leaving only the foundation and the people standing on it left, those that weren’t as well trained, or too frightened to move got crushed under the rubble of the fallen walkway, splattering bit and pieces of bat everywhere. Those who were able to react simply flew off the walkway and backwards, avoiding it completely, some magic users who had been using their wings to hold their tools had been forced to drop them to survive. “Nice! I got it all in one blast.” Satisfied with his handiwork, Jack picked up the pace, now only a couple hundred meters away from their fortress.

Jack was almost upon them now, and that also meant he was in range of the archers, who began firing, very few of their arrows found purchase in his tough skin, and those that did didn’t get very far. It wasn’t until Jack got closer that the magic users started doing their work, some sent blades of air towards him, leaving small scratches in his skin, and others sent motes of fire that exploded across his chest, but compared to his size they were like snappers1Little explosives that explode in a harmless flash, not even phasing him. Seeing their efforts were doing little to nothing, the magic users started pooling together their magic into one giant orb of fast whirling flame that slowly got bigger, starting at the size of a basketball and quickly growing to the size of a small car, and still growing. “I should probably do something about that. And I don’t really want to wear myself out anymore with my atomic breath, so I’ll do something else.” “like dodge.” “But, just in case…” Jack lowered his body further to the ground, making it even harder to hit his exposed skin, with now more arrows bouncing off his armor, Jack focuses on the ball, ready to move out of the way as soon as it fires.

When he is about 90 meters away the ball has gotten to the size of a house, and not a small one, but one with a two car garage. The magic users, tired and drained, send a little bit more of their energy into it, before collectively pointing their various weapon forwards and shouting some type of warcry, sending the ball forwards. Jack, ready for this, hops to the side and starts moving further away, but as it comes closer to him, the ball pulls him towards it, forcing him to halt in his tracks or be pulled straight into it, even as it passes, it takes jack digging his claws into the ground just for him not to be wrenched off his feet. But Jack is a heavy boy, as it goes behind him, it finally hits the floor, exploding in a blaze of flame and wind reaching far away, flattening and burning any nearby trees or animals, even flyers aren’t safe as their wings are violently ripped off them as the drag caused from the wind force is too much for their poor shoulders.

But now the bat-creatures have no chance, as Jack rises from his standstill, he slowly walks towards the destroyed wall, taking it leisurely as the knights rush to meet him, swinging their swords, but Jack simply slaps them out the air like flies, and to him, they basically are, but these flies are horse flies, one manages to escape his notice as he deals with the others, and stabs him in the neck, it relishes in it accomplishment for a moment, before it too is swatted. “Ah! That stung.” Pulling the tiny sword out of his neck, Jack examines it for a bit, before crushing it between his fingers “No matter, at least I know they aren’t magical at least.” “Though wow, magic. That’s… new.” “Wonder if I can learn it…”

As Jack steps upon the ruins of the wall, he puts his sights on their triangular building “Gotta finish them off now, though I wonder where the rest went…”

Sorry for the wait y'all, just building up steam again and got caught up reading other peoples works(Ironic, I know.). But I should hopefully get back into the flow of things! For now, have a longer than usual chapter.
