“W-W-What do you mean?!” A different sorcerer asks, with terror evident in their voice. The Head Sorcerer, Alcver Cou, falls into a sitting position on the floor “Ah. I suppose it doesn’t matter now.” Alcver slowly rubs his temples “Well, sit down, this is going to be a bit.” As the younger sorcerers slowly sit down, he clears his throat “Back before even the last Head Sorcerer, and before the one before that, the founder of the Sorcerer Tower, along with ten of his most trusted disciples, did a self-made ritual to put the Great Tree, or rather, the originator of all trees-” Gasps are sounded from the entranced disciples “-under our control, this cost the life of his disciples, and crippled him permanently, both magically and physically, but he passed down the secret of how to use the control ritual, and a warning to never reveal what it truly was. If citizens, or even the King, found out, knowing that it dwelled in the very mountain they live next to, and it wasn’t a golem? They would be too blinded by terror to think straight, who knows what they might do? Send out a witch-hunt for it? Remove all funding for the Sorcerer Tower? Ban all magic?” Yet more gasps “There is many things they could, or I guess now, might, do, and not a single one of them good.”

Looking at his now clouded orb, Alcver sighs “And now that it has been destroyed that much, it’s seal has been destroyed, and it knows. It remembers…” Looking away from the orb, and again down at the floor “The seal was held together by the amount of mana it naturally absorbed and regened, latching onto the biggest piece, as long as a big enough clump of wood remained, the mana regeneration would be able to keep it going forever.” A much newer disciple piped up “Isn’t there anything we can do?” Thinking for a bit, face blank and staring at the ceiling, he absent-mindedly asks “How many sorcerers do we have that specia-no- how many do we have that can use fire magic?” Not expecting him to ask a question, the most senior of the disciples quickly answers “A couple hundred or so? It’s not the most popular, but more have been getting interested in it since it’s been getting colder recently.” Blinking slowly without moving his body Alcver makes a simple sound “Mmm.” Shifting a bit in his sitting position, but still with a blank look, he follows up “Perhaps we can…”
