“387 years!” I blurted out in surprise. If that was the case, this scholar was definitely sentenced for life.

As if noticing my pity, the scarred man – Hua Mutian – chuckled. “Don’t expect that low number to be a life sentence. The traitor might look like a pen pusher, but he’s actually already in the Chroma Staining Stage. A mere four hundred years isn’t gonna dent his life capacity.”

“Chroma Staining Stage? Really?” I couldn’t help but impolitely ask. Realizing my rudeness, I quickly covered my mouth in shame.

“Haha, no worries. He’s right. I’m a Pen Arts cultivator.” Hou Jingtan before sneering at the scarred man. “At least I won’t be stuck here for life like you and your 2000+ year sentence.”

“2000 years! What did he do?” All these surprises, I really couldn’t help but ask.

“Hua Mutian…he’s a serial rapist who raped and killed over 4000 females from 16 to 30 year old. Virgins or not, he doesn’t care. He’s sentence is actually 3000 years. He’s already been here for more than my life sentence.”

“A rapist? Despicable!” The adult in me spat as I inched away from the scarred man.

“Haha, Despicable indeed! Well said, well said!” The cackler from the sealed coffin hissed mirthfully.

“Hmph! Little boy, call me despicable one more time and I’ll break your neck right here right now!” Hua Mutian glared displeasingly.

“Don’t worry about him, little boy. Come here and I’ll teach you a way to beat him down.” A boom echoed the prison cell.

I turned around and saw a burly man suspended in mid-air and chained on all fours. His head was encased in a steel, cage-like helmet. I could barely see a bloodshot eye staring back at me.

As I hesitated, I suddenly felt a suction force coming from my side. I spun around and saw Hua Mutian turned to the side, an impression of his fingers stuck out from the strait jacket. Dense Qi flowed out from within his hand, attaching itself onto me and pulling me towards him.

Naturally, I yelped in panic. As I struggled to free myself, I glanced around with pleading eyes. Luckily, I seemed to have gotten on Hou Jingtan’s good side earlier as he reached out and severed the connection between me and the scarred man.

“Thank you, sir.” I bowed gratefully as I scrambled back to where my side of the cell was.

“No problem, let’s just treat this as payment for the laughter earlier. I am a little curious though…when you found out that I was a traitor, why didn’t you treat me as so?” Hou Jingtan asked curiously.

“Well, I’m sure you had your reasons. Besides, it’s not like it affected me directly so why should I care?” I remarked.

“Hahaha!” Hou Jingtan laughed once more as his eyes twinkled. “I like you, young man. And it seemed like our fates are intertwined. How about becoming my disciple? I can teach you some unrivalled skills.”

Before I could reply, the booming man snorted. “Unrivalled? You? Just one of my skills could kill you a hundred times and a hundred different ways.”

“Who is this sir?” I asked Hou Jingtan.

“An idiot. A muscle-brain. The way he was caught would put all criminals to shame.” The sealed prisoner snickered.

“You pale-ass freak! Shut your mouth!” The burly man roared. He turned towards me and replied. “Listen boy, if you humiliate that bloodsucker, I’ll teach you a powerful skill.”

“Lin Tian. He is known as the Butcher. In his prime, he has killed over 10,000 mortals with his bare hands.” Hou Jingtan explained.

“What do you mean ‘in his prime’? I’m still in my prime! I, An Silang, can still tear apart 10,000 more mortals!” The burly man emphasized his strength.

“You should become my disciple instead. Instead of acquiring a powerful enemy just to learn a skill, you should ignore those two and learn from me. At least you won’t offend anyone.” The national traitor explained kindly.

“Like you’re one to say that.” An Silang retorted. “If certain people found out the boy was your disciple, then won’t he have offended the entire kingdom?”

“Ah…that’s true. Wow, for once, you said something intelligent.” Hou Jingtan smacked his head forgetfully.

“Bitch! I’ll kill you!” An Silang roared in anger.

“Yea, yea, whatever. Alright boy, how about this? You don’t have to become my disciple, but allow me to teach you a skill.”

“Okay.” I nodded as I walked closer to Hou Jingtan.

“Great! I see that your practicing a lightness skill. Maybe you want a supplement skill for that? Or maybe you want an offensive skill? Ah, how about this, I’ll list out all the Foundation Stage skills for you and you can choose one that you like.”

Nice! I muttered inwardly. Finally, I might be able to turn my life around. A powerful skill from a master! Things are looking bright.

“But remember, I won’t describe to you what these skills are.” Hou Jingtan continued.

Oh no…I have a bad feeling about this. A dark cloud began to overshadow the brightness.

“Let’s have fate decide.”
