L, for the time being, decided to keep the information about the danger to herself. If what she was sensing was the generic danger caused by being in the God's Game, then there was no advantage to revealing that information. However, if he was in more targeted danger, if he was about to be attacked, or some other form of "danger." It would be best to keep that information to herself, whatever was causing this "danger sense" might be spying on them, for all L knew, it might be hiding in the shadows. As long as she stood ready, keeping the information to herself would give them an advantage. Other than the danger aspect, she recounted the information about her third letter to V.

"I am, not to use a buzzword, honored by your decision. Perhaps if you took the blessing of the ronin, it would have freed you from your Divine Slave occupation." L had considered that as well, but she said nothing. V was silent as he thought for a few moments. "I think we can assume that the champion we take the letters from has no bearing on the skills or other benefits we receive. Upgrading your blessing and increasing your regeneration skill by two levels seems to have no correlation with the, frankly horrible, "L" we received from the Champion of Darkness." L agreed, she felt nothing even remotely connected to that dark shard when she actually used the letter. "Ya! Eika thinks that you would have gotten some sort of evil powers from it! Did you see the walls?!" Eika had mostly recovered from the experience, but was still a little shaken.  Nodding, V checked L's status.

He focused on her class, to check her new ability.

Ability: Last Strike
Uses all remaining resources available to the user to perform a devastating strike.
Cannot be used in conjunction with first strike.
Extremely high likelihood of damaging the user.

"Your new ability seems helpful." V figured that Last Strike was going to be an absolutely ruinous ability. First Strike allowed L to move extremely fast, and the power of the blow was also impressive. First Strike however, did not seem to exhaust L or have any negative side effects. Something that has a warning attached to it, like Last Strike, should be positively wild to witness. V hoped so anyway. They really needed something to use against the other Champions that would actually accomplish something. L nodded "It does, however, due to the seeming danger to my own person, it might be wise to test the ability while we are out of combat. I will not rely on an untested ability in a moment of need." V shrugged "That makes sense, but I am not sure how you plan on testing it..." V grinned and looked at Eika. "Hay Eika, come here a minute, we need your help with something." Eika's eyes expanded to the size of saucers "Nooooooo! Don't use Eika as a testing doll!" L gave V a critical look as he chuckled. "I was just kidding! I needed a laugh after what happened earlier." Eika put her hands on her hips and turned her head, "Humph!" After apologizing to Eika, and discussing the day's events for a short while, V and Eika decided to get some sleep. V suspected tomorrow would be another long day.

Upon waking, V was surprised to see L waiting impatiently. Eika had already awoken and nibbling on some form of... cinnamon stick? "Are you quite done sleeping? I had to take the girl out for food once already." By the expression on both of their faces, V assumed Eika had gotten into some sort of trouble on the trip. V nodded as he rolled out of bed. Once again, his head hurt, he felt like he had a dream of some type, but could not remember it. He really hoped the specter did not damage his brain. "Ya, ya I’m awake. What time is it?" L shrugged, "Early afternoon, based on the sun." V's grogginess was wiped away quickly as he prepared for the search for the "E" they would supposedly find in the alleys of the noble quarter. As they headed out of T's hideout, V commented "I wonder how T is doing. If he survived, I suspect he is going to be a real problem in the long run." L nodded "Yes... he seemed troublesome." L scanned the rooftops closest to them as they started their walk to the noble quarter. V had purchased a small bit of food from one of the inns they had passed; a baked vegetable of some sort, and was eating it as they walked. "So, we are going to need more money soon. We have like, enough for meals for a day or two. After that however we are totally dry." L nodded "I had noticed the same problem." V nodded as they walked "Oh. By the way, we need to make a stop before going to the noble quarter. Also, hahahah, uh, if anyone asks, I’m the Champion of Fire." L gave V a look, but simply bowed her head. "As you say."

V stood in front of the strange alchemist again. She nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, I in fact was able to extract some of the substance from the bugs... .... you gave me. However, I did get poisoned during the process and broke some of my finer glass cylinders when I fell over, I’ll just bill the palace for that as well." As the woman handed a small vial of greenish fluid to V, he had the distinct feeling that the woman knew he was not the Champion of Fire. "It’s enough to coat a few blades in it or something.... .... but when exposed to air it dissipates into the air fairly quickly. Each application will only last a few minutes or so. You don't need much though; this stuff is crazy... .... .... powerful" V nodded "Thanks, that is helpful information. Do... try to get some fresh air once in a while." The woman laughed and waved him away. He joined Eika and L, who were waiting outside. "You look sick..." Eika ran up to V, a worried look on her face. "Ya, that place makes me ill. After a few minutes of fresh air, I’ll be fine." As they began walking toward the noble quarter, V looked behind him he felt that something was off, but could not tell what.

"Do they not guard the noble quarter?" L spoke up as they passed into the fancier part of town. "In my old world, just getting inside the area the nobility inhabited was a feat, even if you were supposed to be there. I did not think about it the first time we were here. I had other things on my mind." V looked around "Well, many of the manors seem to have house guards. This city seems fairly free spirited all things considered. Maybe they just don't like to restrict the movement of people?" Eika grabbed the hem of V's shirt, which made him pause and look at her. "Eika?" She was looking all around, her ears ridged. "Do you think J is still watching us?" V furrowed his brow. "I doubt he is watching us directly. He obviously has ways of gathering information other than just watching us." Eika shook her head. "I feel the same way as I did when he first snuck up on us. Eika is worried..." V considered the situation, halting his advance through the area. He and Eika had the feeling of being followed on and off that entire day. When J showed up that was the obvious answer to the question of who was following them. However, after talking with him, V realized that J would never have wasted the time following them. The answer then seemed to be that the Champion of Darkness had been inside of his shadow, obviously using it to hide from people seeking the bounty on his head. However, he was dead... V hoped anyway. "Well, we just have to keep our eyes open." Eika nodded and let go of V's shirt, but stood close to him.

After checking a few alleys, L spoke up "If we see someone in the alley, are we going to just immediately attack them? How do we decide if they are a champion or an innocent person? I am not a fan of murdering people, if you have not clued into that yet." V rolled his eyes. "Yes well, the only other option is to wait till they attack us. I guess we will just have to play this by ear." Eika's ears twitched "Eika hears something!" She pointed to an alleyway across the main road from them. L gripped her sword as they prepared to encounter another Champion. However, once they saw the dweller of the alleyway, they relaxed. Inside was a small girl. Eika's head came up to about V's waist, but this girl was even smaller. At the moment she was bent over searching a pile of trash, but V wagered she was a few inches shorter than Eika. She also had a pair of animal ears, dog or cat perhaps? She also sported a long fully tail. The girl was extremely dirty, and clearly was looking for something to eat among the discarded food of the nobility. When she noticed the three of them staring at her she scrambled upright "Uh... uh... sorry! I’m sorry about going through your stuff!" V shook his head "Uh... no that's fine. We were just uh... checking the alleys for... bad guys." He gestured for L to follow him, to continue their search. L hesitated a moment, but relented. "If we had more money, I would say we should help the girl. I feel bad for her. Society always leaves some behind. She could at the least be a servant or slave, she would at-least be fed that way. As they began to walk away from the alley, Eika grabbed V's hand and whispered urgently "Wait! Eika checked her status. I was curious if I could see what race she was, Eika had never seen someone as cute as her, she is even smaller than me!" She hesitated and spoke even quieter "Her status is not hidden. She is a champion!" Eika was unable to fully control her energy, saying the last part loud enough that L at-least could hear.

Gripping the hilt of her sword, L whipped back around toward the alley. V, turned and checked the girls status.
