Phil stretched his arms as he yawned, the night was young and getting older as he sat in front of his personal computer ‘That was a productive day alright, time for a less than productive night’ He yawned again as he mentally told himself ‘I still have to figure out how to access and transmit the data to the agents but that is for tomorrow Phil to deal with’
‘For now, I need to take a bit of a break and here’s to a good binge on MeTube and the like’ He thought as he turned on the app and browsed for a few seconds finding the same old videos talking about random things with a hint of talks about aliens after they arrived but they all seemed the same to him.
Then he checked his notifications and raised a brow at a video ‘Oh right they uploaded again, so it’s day 14 then, already 2 weeks since they came to our system’ He thought as he just shrugged and clicked on the video as he waited for it to buffer before hearing those same words again.
“Hello again wonderful people, this is Faraday speaking here and I welcome you to the 14th day of our series since the aliens arrived in our solar system” Phil rolled his eyes as he listened to the intro section very much the same from the last few ‘Wonder what’s new today, they haven’t done much but the video is longer so I do wonder what is happening’ He wondered as he saw the video length.
“Today, we have some striking news on the development with our extraterrestrial visitors, as it is revealed exactly 2 days ago, the aliens wanted a meeting in Antarctica which is a neutral territory owned by no nations of Earth and they wanted to meet as soon as possible” He started as it showed a map of the continent.
Faraday continued on about it “Whether they meant for us to choose the exact time and date to be prepared would not be known until later as we have accepted a meeting at the exact coordinates that they chose at that exact time from what the various peoples in charge spoken about”
Phil took a sip of his hot cocoa as he watched “What we do know is that a striking leak of information from an anonymous user in Russia has revealed a phone call between two people supposedly on the top of the government talking about the alien” Phil shrugged as he took another sip.
‘Of course, Russian hackers are quite formidable’ He figures as Faraday put the audio on screen where he promptly spit his drink as he heard his own voice in there ‘…Oh you have to be fucking kidding me, didn’t I tell the agent a good bit in that phone call?’ He thought as he blinked away his shock.
It continued playing and he was absolutely sure it was the audio from his phone call with the agent this morning “If this anonymous tip which is accurate which no governments have proven or disproven as of yet, it could reveal a lot about the aliens as a whole from the audio we managed to get between what appears to be official diplomats and a politician of some sort” The video continues as Phil just stared.
‘Official diplomat my ass, I did jack shit but act like normal’ He couldn’t help but nervously chuckle at that part, thankfully it wasn’t the full audio but only the parts in which he was talking about the Ferrenti to the agent so it spared him the parts in which he acted in an unprofessional manner which was good.
“As of right now in the severe lack of information, we have decided that because the anonymous user has revealed truthful information before that we will take their word for it as of now and shall discuss about the contents of the call as truthfully, we lack content” He admitted on screen as Phil sighed.
There was a short cough by the presenter before he continues “As we all know, the first thing they discussed is about the alien’s own technology in which we have limited knowledge of but we do know that they appear to have some sort of energy shielding as described in the audio” Faraday revealed.
“From what was discussed, we can safely assume that their energy shielding can block out microorganisms as they are described to be ‘utterly unworried about the prospect of contamnation’ as spoken in the call and seem to offer protection in the element though they discussed whether if it can block firearms or other physical sources as well” Phil slammed his head on his desk.
“Apparently, the aliens even allowed someone from our side to borrow one of their equipment which revealed the blue shielding around their body though they debated whether or not it was something special or just a simple bright light, there is still too little information.” Said Faraday.
He sighed as he checked the video release finding that it was some 40 minutes ago “They also described 3 of the aliens themselves, 2 dressed in some sort of clothing that look like a scientist and a leader and the last looking like a soldier of some kind and the clothing was described to be it ‘ripped out of a sci-fi show’ by one of the callers” The explanation continues.
“The soldier is described to have equipment somewhat similar to that of modern-day soldiers but looks sci-fiey and alieney by the caller has some sort of weapon though the caller says he did not know what it uses as projectiles” Phil groaned as he held his head ‘Why on Earth did I describe all of it like that?’ He questioned his past actions in the meantime as it continues.
“And as for what the aliens look like, the caller describes them as I quote: ‘cute fluffy space raptors’ and the caller referred to them as Ferrenti though it is their species, race or perhaps nation” Came the continuation from before ‘I’m going to strangle that Russian hacker when I find him’ He promised as he just sighed and watched the video in peace or at least as much peace of he could muster.
“They are also said to bear an uncanny resemblance to other aliens in sci-fi and popular fiction and they also appear to have a striking resemblance to anthro furry art as a whole from what they said” Faraday added as the video showed off a few examples which do bear a striking resemblance.
“In the call the Ferrenti as I shall now call them are described to be covered in feathers mostly white to blueish with two legs both digitigrade, arms with wings or wings with arms on, large somewhat bat like ears, a cuteish snout that is strikingly like a mix of mammalian and reptilian features with bug like antennas and a long whip like prehensile tail” The following description was added as Phil just nodded.
“They also discussed that their calls are in a higher frequency range than we an hear which would make communication with them particularly hard but our good friends over in the arctic seems to be doing fine in all honesty” Faraday added as well.
Phil shook his head at that ‘No, I’m not doing fine Faraday, I’m just not’ He answered as the video just continues “Well, we seem to have gleamed everything we can from the call and thanks to an anonymous hacker in Russia we managed to learn more about our visitors” Spoke Faraday.
“The Ferrenti, what do they want from us? And how does their biology compare to our own? We shall see when an official report is released on the subject matter but until then, please continue to have a wonderful time my dear viewers” And with that the video ended and the autoplay started.
Phil shut it off as he got to thinking for a moment ‘So, I do wonder how the government is going to react to this because that phone call is quite real. Damn Russian hackers, first it was that incident with the new nuclear reactor and then it was the exposure of that corrupt politician and now this crap’ He sighed and shook his head as he just sat down and stared blankly at the wall for a bit.
“Well, I guess I can’t really do much about it, let’s just put this aside and do some binging for a bit, wonder what the internet thinks about this whole thing, probably nothing good” He said out loud as he flicked open a few tabs “I do wonder what the agents think about all of this… probably panicking at the thought as they try to desperately reduce the damages I suppose”
He paused as he noticed something ‘Huh, wow it’s not even confirmed to be real and yet there is already artwork speculating based on what my description was’ He thought ‘Some of these are actually quite good and dare I say accurate, I wonder… WHAT IN GOD’S NAME IS… okay that’s enough internet for today’ He quickly decided as he closed the tab and went to just play some games to end the night.
The 3rd day couldn’t come soon enough as Ellie stretched her arms for the day ‘Another morning, another wonderful day in the works’ She thought as she immediately went for her phone to check some stuff on the net as she got out of bed, got dressed and cleaned herself up.
“Good morning, Matt good morning, Phil you guys got up early today” Ellie greeted as she entered the living room, blizzard raging as ever outside the station. She stopped as she realized that they were plastered up the television as they both held respective cups of their chosen beverages.
She looked at them both for a bit before asking “Why are you guys watching TV in the morning?” Asked Ellie as they both shushed and gestured for her to sit with them. She shrugged to herself more than anyone as she sat down next to them both before turning to the TV screen.
“-We all know, today we have confirmation that the leaked call revealed yesterday has been confirmed to be partially true. I shall repeat again but the call that was leaked yesterday was revealed to be [artially true by members of the state, in other news this has revealed many fascinating-”
“What call?” Ellie asked as both the guys groaned loudly next to her “You know, I had a call from my agent yesterday, right?” Phil asked her as she just nodded in response “Well some Russian hacker who managed to crack the code of the white house or something managed to get and leak that to the entire internet” Phil said with a scowl as she listened to the reporter.
She blinked as she turned to him “Wait, you mean the call in which you reported to your agent lady about the Ferrenti right?” She questioned as he hesitantly nodded in response “Yes, exactly that and now I am afraid of what might crop up on the internet now, especially if it was as bad as yesterday night” He added as Ellie looked at him a bit weirdly.
“Ellie, do yourself a favor and do not look up anything involving, space, alien or raptors ever again, you do not want to know” Matt quickly told her as she saw his arm shake a bit “Oh come on guys, it can’t be that bad” She ignored the warnings as she picked up her phone and looked at it for a moment.
‘I mean, now that people know what the aliens generally look like, there should be some cute art on the net’ She naively thought as someone who never experienced the horrors of the darkest side of the internet without knowledge of monosodium glutamate or the hub of naught.
“See, it’s oh my god this is so cute… wow that one is actually quite accurate compared to the real thing, they look so cute, okay that is a bit creepy… that’s just not cute at all… why would anyone want to draw something like this?!?! Oh… this is uh… I uh… this looks… Is that a… why yes, it is but that is to be expected on the internet and… Oh… OH!” She experienced the 5 stages before putting her phone down.
She looked at them both with a worried expression “You’re lucky, it was worse yesterday” Was the only thing Matt told her ‘I mean, it was bad but not that bad’ She tried justifying it in her head “Someone drew something close to them using a… cheese grater” Phil shuddered as he told her.
It took her exactly 5 seconds before she realized the implications of the words and chuckled loudly and nervously before just sitting down and try to get that fucking mental image out of her head ‘Okay, it is way worse than I would’ve thought… Why do we stray further from god by descending further into the bowels of degeneracy again?” She shuddered as she thought about it.
She did not know how long she just sat there with her friends blankly staring at the TV but after what felt like forever, there was a noise at the door as they looked at each other “Aren’t we supposed to receive Sylvia and the others today as well?” Phil accidentally muttered with eyes wide.
Ellie immediately broke into a sprint as the one closest to the door as she yanked it open with full force as she felt something pat her head and looked up to see Sylvia “Haalloo” She greeted with a chirp as Ellie blinked before smiling “Hello Sylvia” She returned the greeting as she stepped back to let her in.
“Hi Sylvia, I don’t see Fawkes anywhere” Phil noticed as Ellie saw a head tilt as she patted Sylvia back “Oh, he is doing some modifications and such, also we managed to make our translation instruments much more” She responded with the instrument slung on her as Ellie chuckled.
“Though this one supposes that it could use some work still, a few notes are still uncorrect” She added as she let out a low hiss ‘They look so cute when they do that, it’s like the puppy eyes but more avianey and alieney and oh god I can’t get that mental image out of my head’ She cursed as she thought.
She felt another head pat as she found the final of the Ferrenti, one she never knew the name of step inside with something under an arm as she doesn’t seem to have a wing “What were ones such as yourselves doing on this fine light hour?” Sylvia asked with a sense of curiosity.
“I’m going to be frank here, there’s been a bit of an informational leak about you guys and it’s been causing a fair few… problems on our internet” Phil answered as Ellie saw Matt gave him a look for a split second “Oh, so one got into your servers and stole some information of us that you sent back and now the general populace knows? This one doesn’t see the problem” She answered with a splay on her head.
“You know what, I think it’s best that I show you the results myself” Phil announced as he pulled out his phone “Uh Phil do you think that is a good idea?” Matt warned him as Ellie stared at him “Phil, please don’t traumatize Sylvia, I don’t think she needs that” She quickly added her own thoguhts as he handed Sylvia the phone anyways “Should be alright, they should know about it as well” Phil explained.
She looked at it a bit as she held it on her 3 digited right hand “Oh, this one knows how to operate such a device… it is potentially a bit hard since we have claws but this one can manage” She explained as she tried to use her claws to little effect but then she used her antenna and it somehow works.
‘I did not know they could do that’ Ellie admitted as the other one looked form behind Sylvia’s shoulder as she figured out how to scroll on a phone “This one sees no problem here, just speculative artwork which is common when one knows not how a creature looks through only descriptions and such from others” She sang as Ellie gulped as she saw her expression go from happy to confused in a mere second.
“Oh, this is pornography, this one gets a bit of what you are singing about but it’s… oh wow, this looks really nice and… WHAT IN THE GLOW IS THAT?!?!” She suddenly screamed through the instrument as she turned to utter disgust “The internet my friend, it is the internet” Phil answered as he shrugged.
The other one glared at him as Ellie tried not to panic at this ‘I don’t think that helped much Phil’ She mentally told him as Sylvia seemed to calm down “You know, this is on par with what this one expects when you folks would be revealed to the public” She spoke as she started to trill a bit.
“Oh, I’m glad you got it, apparently no matter who we are the degeneracy and the horniness stays the same either way” Phil answered as he laughed and Ellie and the others seem to follow soon enough albeit nervously "It is just that, a common urge to proliferate one’s own kind is stronger than most other urges after all” Sylvia agreed with a short trilling as Ellie saw Phil just nodded along to that.
“So do you want to discuss about culture and such now?” Phil asked as Ellie just kept quiet “This one thought one such as yourself would never ask, it will be nice” She agreed as Ellie breathed a sigh of relief as she shuffled over towards Matt “You know my heart nearly fell out right there” She admitted as Matt sighed “Mine as well, I can’t believe Phil would show the aliens actual not work safe art of them and they’re just fine with it?” Matt wondered out loud as he shook his head.
Ellie couldn’t believe it as well as the other one went over next to them “Oh hello there, is there anything in particular that you want?” Ellie asked as she seems to think for a moment, antenna dropping in thought as she held the box like object up and pointed towards Matt with her tail “Oh I think I get what this means, you up for a rematch right?” Matt asked as she slowly but confidently nodded.
They then split up from here and for the first time Ellie was alone as she stared towards the 2 forming groups ‘Do I go with Phil to learn more about culture or do I go with Matt to watch board games play out on their own’ She wondered as she just shrugged and went with Matt to see the alien game in action
