So, the demon lord’s being on cloud nine since coming back from visiting Vitalis that he decided to throw a welcoming party for Marcel. Apparently, he decided to take Vitalis’ advice and treat Marcel right, so he decided that, “Hey, why not throw my wife-to-be a big party?” on a whim and then began planning for it.

He began writing down the invitations that he’d send later to the various demons, big shot demons for the most part, who lived all across the different dimensions.

He was so elated because of what Vitalis said about Marcel’s soul liking him already. He hadn’t been so happy before, ever. At least, he was sure of that for the time being. Sure, he knew that he didn’t harbor any romantic feelings towards our hero, Marcel but there was this sense of security that he got from thinking about him, like Marcel wasn’t at all destined to end him.

“Oh, impressive. So, you can also use those two elements, huh?” Claude said to Marcel who had awakened two rare elements: the divine element and the summon element.

Long story short, let’s turn back to about an hour ago, then everything will make sense.

Okay, so after Marcel discovered that the shadow element wasn’t as dark as the humans had made it out to be, he began to have doubts a lot of other things too, like the fundamentals he was taught and the proper utilization of magic and a lot of other stuff. He straight up lost hope in everything the humans taught him and that’s when he asked his new teacher and caretaker, Claude for help.

Claude suggested he take the magic affinity test; a test done with a crystal which changed in color based to a person’s natural affinities, all over again and Marcel was more than happy enough to do it.

The colors and brightness for every element determined which affinity the person taking the test had and the dimmer the crystal shone, the smaller the chance of being able to utilize that element to its fullest capabilities. Basically, if the crystal’s light wasn’t as bright as it should be for an average person, you’ve got to know that there’s a lot of struggle coming your way in terms of learning magic, at least in the human world that is.

Huh, speaking of which, the humans in the dimension Marcel is from originally gained access to magic from the first demons who traveled to the human world in search of knowledge about the humans and their world to better improve their way of magic, with disguises of course.

They were highly skilled witches for the most part and they stayed in the human world; making a name for themselves, pursuing more knowledge and also not forgetting to leave descendants among the humans. Those descendants with those witches’ blood running through their veins are capable of accessing powerful magic, commoner or not.

The nobles of the human world who are now considered masters of magic are trash compared to them since their ancestors were just those first witches’ lackeys. The witches kept their secrets inside their bloodlines instead to keep it safe from those who were too greedy and judging from looks of Marcel’s bloodline, he probably has witch blood running through his veins, although he and nobody else knows; the reason being that nobody ever suspected those witches to be well, witches to begin with.

They lived ordinary lives with the exception of their extreme thirst for knowledge; one of the main distinguishing characteristics of a witch and that most people, like their human husbands and wives were very understanding about their situation when they found out and also, they wouldn’t be able to not understand, get what I mean? Point is, they could also sway someone’s opinions to a certain degree if they wanted, sort of like brainwashing. Scary~!

For Marcel, the awakening of his last element went smoothly, or at least what he thought was the last basic element anyway.

The current humans who were nothing compared to their ancestors think that there are only six elements but in actuality, there are eight; the last two being the lightning- and ice elements respectively.

This came as a surprise to Marcel because from what he’d learned, elements such as those are usually created with a form of magic that requires the caster to be able to proficiently control multiple elements; composite magic.

Composite magic usually involves covering up the weakness of one element by shrouding it with another element, for example, covering up earth magic’s weakness against water magic with elements like fire and wind to make it withstand water magic. That’s how Marcel thought lightning magic and ice magic were created and now he finds out that too, was unfortunately a lie.

Marcel was feeling pretty discouraged as he listened to Claude explain it all that he thought about just forgetting everything he had learned up till now and start it all over using demon standards instead of humans. After that, they continued on to unlock the two other elements: the cyan ice element and the violet with yellow sparks lightning element.

After unlocking those last two basic elements, Marcel was so exhausted, although physically by any means. It was his mind and it was so exhausted that he thought of just quitting everything for the day and just sleeping, but little did he know, that he wasn’t going to get any sleep until nightfall.

It looks like unlocking all his basic elements weren’t enough to satisfy Claude, so he went to grab another crystal and they began with intermediate magic awakening, adding more weight to the stress on Marcel’s mind.

They began the awakening and Marcel awakened the divine element; with its pure white light that just scream holiness and the summon element with revealed a pure white light along several inscriptions that Marcel didn’t at all understand until Claude translated it for him.

“Tame the beast. Calm its rage. Listen to its calls and it’ll serve you well” was what it said and Marcel, who was already felt exhausted just thought, “Great. More burden.” Tame the beast? Just how was he supposed to understand something as vague as that.

He thought about it for a while and then he couldn’t take the fatigue anymore, so he stopped to count something that he thought would be refreshing. He began counting the number of elements he can now access.

Well counting from the top, he can use fire, water, earth, wind, light, shadow, ice, and lightning as basic elements and then for the intermediate elements: space, divine and summon. Now that’s what you’d call a good haul. He thought for a second there that it was quite fun being a hero, you know, having privileges others don't, but what Claude said afterward broke his spirit, entirely.

“Now that I know how many elements you can control, let’s begin with learning the basic principles of the eight elements, then the rules of space and then afterward, we’ll learn all the rules of magic control too. We’ll be busy for a very long time. I hope you’ll be able to awaken at least 20 elements before you die, just like my father.” He said in a manner that made Marcel give up any hope of getting some rest before nightfall. It looks like he’s going to live a very long life, a very stressful one at that.

So, Marcel began learning all over from the very beginning and this time, the right way and he realized something; magic wasn’t as complicated as the humans taught it to be. Thanks to his talent and luck as a hero, he managed to understand the first principles of the basic main elements in about four hours and moved on to the second. Claude was very impressed with the pace he learned all that complicated stuff that’d leave even heroes confused for a while and thanked the heavens that he met someone as talented as Marcel. He began planning Marcel’s next lesson after he finished with the basic principles. The language of magic, the language in which those inscriptions on Marcel’s summon element.

The summon element was quite unique for everyone. When it’s first accessed, it gives anyone who awakens it a clue to finding what they are destined to summon. It could be beast summoning, soul summoning or even god summoning or something very unique. Claude was getting excited trying to anticipate what summoning Marcel would use in the future and from the clue they got earlier, it’s highly likely to be some kind of beast.

“I have to at least get you to at least the level of an A-class demon before you face him again, or else he might think I’m useless and that you’re just non-threatening, which would make him very happy by the way.” Claude added, getting Marcel even more fired up. Marcel was thinking that if it’s to get back at that bastard for what he did to him both yesterday and today, then he’d do anything.

“Good. We're going to continue tomorrow morning at daybreak and after we've finished the last of the basics and principles of the elements and magic, we'll be doing physical training next and trust me, it’s going to be hell.” Claude's words sent shivers down Marcel's spine and for a minute there, he thought that he wanted to go back home and then he remembered that this is his home now. He's the freaking demon Lord’s wife and there's no way for him to get back even if he wanted. This is the beginning of his new life as someone's so-called wife and a hero who’ll get revenge on the person who began all of this in the first place, the demon lord.
