Yep, you read that right, we’ve reached the end of Volume 1. But worry not, fair readers, I have plans.
At the moment, I’m going to mark this story as “completed”, and then start making changes. I’ll separate some of the chapters into a volume called “Extras”, and figure out art for the covers. Then I’m going to go through and fix some of the inconsistencies/plot holes. And fill out my lovely spreadsheet so I don’t make new inconsistencies. After that, my plan is to shove the whole book onto Amazon, in case anyone (coughmecough) wants a physical copy.
During all that, I’ll be writing a backlog for Volume 2, where Nikki and co. will be Official Players. I’m debating having a few more non-diary chapters in there, but not a significant percent. One or two per cycle, max. As normal, those chapters wouldn’t be from Nikki’s POV.
Just so everyone doesn’t forget this exists, every other Wednesday until the next volume starts, I’m going to be releasing chapters with art (admittedly mostly from Picrew) and updates.
When the new volume starts, I’ll be switching to a Monday/Friday schedule. For the past ten months I haven’t had much time to write short stories, and tbh I miss them. Not that I don’t love writing about colorful chaotic catgirls, but they have kinda been my main thing for long enough.
If you suddenly find yourself needing something else to read, my superhero story VINES is going to get a new volume starting on the 20th. (On RoyalRoad, since Scribblehub doesn't really do volumes...) The first volume contains the same amount of cooking as this story, much less marbles, more weresharks, legitimate time loops, and a Costco. In case you wondered.
Oh, and in case you wondered… The Admin has removed Players before. On Cycle 20, all players who hadn’t passed the entrance of Floor 50 were removed. Just to weed out the slackers. However, since the doors don’t recognize some players as players, he had no reason to suppose the System would correctly identify all the players when asked to do something different. So he put “check passage through this door” insead of “check if this player has been on this floor”. For Cycle 40 he just swapped out “door 50” with “door 100”. But! Couldn’t he have written a code to specifically block the catgirls from becoming players? Eh, probably. But that would have, like, required effort? And then he might miss one, or the System would ignore it anyways… Best to just let it happen. Besides, it’ll get those damn mosquitoes out of his figurative hair.

If all of the miscreant npc's that went though door 100 become players, does that mean that the players that didn't become npc's?

I got Very confused at how that last chapter for Cycle 39. I know that Y was a Kobold but the chapters have been consistently in Nikki’s POV so should’ve it have been her doing everything for that prompt?
Though I am glad that they are out of the dungeon…and that they kept their broken stats.
Ah, yes, but, any time there's been a non-diary entry, it hasn't been from her POV. So it wouldn't have been her doing these things regardless.
@MadSadie True. Still those were rare and few between, so it was just a confusing and sudden switch to me.
Related to Volumes, mark each volume as a different book and link them as sequal/prequel.

Maybe it's better for you to mark this work as [old], create a new one and make changes to it already, or even make them only for the Amazon version, this, by the way, for some people can become an additional reason to buy them.
(Personally, under no circumstances will I buy them because I don’t buy at all).
And so I and many other people love your work as it is, and making changes to it can destroy what we love so much.
If you are very insistent you can move the chapters, I personally can put up with it, but please don't fix the "mistakes" and "plot holes" because it might spoil what is good in your novel.
Let the Amazon buyers take advantage of their fix, not me and other readers of this site.

The style, as the author says, is more accessible, the plot is improved, but as a reader, I no longer like it, and the author himself abandoned it.

TBH updating the chapters here would take quite a bit of effort, so I had planned on leaving it as is. The Amazon version won't be too terribly different, it'll just be formatted as an e-book and I'll swap a few details early on so they work with what I have later in the story. More for my own peace of mind than anything. But I'm not going to do any major editing or complete rewrites of chapters or whatever. I doubt I'll change anything beyond Cycle 26 at all...

Just the beginning and the first half of your work are the best, they are written on the one hand positively, but on the other hand very tragically, and in fact they are a locomotive that carries the entire subsequent work.
Don't change those chapters, if you break them it will be a big loss.
In this regard, I am more indifferent to the second half of the novel, there are funny places there, but no more, if you really want to change something, then it’s better to make changes there, if you spoil something there, then this will not be a big loss, in extreme cases reading a novel can skip several paragraphs or even several chapters.
How’s Nikki going to handle not having a diner in which to cook, she seemed to really enjoy doing that?
Maybe borrowing another catgirl’s when they’re on one of those floors? Would potentially be a strange conversation.
