I can say that it has been a few hours from the Start of the game, I can't say how every candidate is doing... but they are surely no some stupid minded... I can say that because one of the conditions to became a God candidate is to finish 100 million years of reincarnations, If someone succeeded in reaching such a number of reincarnations then he must have enough wisdom and life experiences to create a good plan 

Probably, no one will take actions at the moment because most likely to use the same strategy as me, Just as video games, Players will start by collecting weapons and items before the beginning of the real Battle
