For the first time since the creation of his domain, Magnus was at the edge of the piece of land he called home. His home was a floating island in the midst of destruction, regeneration of limbs, ash and pure chaos. Though his domain had expanded over the centuries, the floating island did not.

Now, he sat at the edge of the nameless island. He stared off into the distance, watching the limbs grow and get destroyed. He watched as outsiders entered his domain and perished just as quickly. Their energy and molecules scrambled and turned into new limbs. He watched as eldritch creatures rose from the chaos and thrived. Watched as they fought and felled each other. They were his army, an army he would most likely never use.

He was content, yet he sighed.

Magnus could feel it, his long journey for power was near its end.

No, he was not going to die, nor was his soul going to dissipate all of a sudden. He was simply reaching the fabled state of omnipotence. Instinctively, he could tell, there was nothing left to climb after the 9th dimension. The 15th dimension was simply there as a soft cap. That was the reason why the inhabitants of the 8th dimension called them legendary beings, not gods.

The ones in the 8th dimension were gods, the ones above had stopped their ascent. They no longer sought worship, nor did they seek more power, one cannot get past infinity after all.

The legendary beings encompassed the entirety of the 9th to the 15th dimension. Why? Because the beings in those dimensions were simply so powerful that there was no longer a need for conflict, for violence. There was no need for rankings anymore. They had so much power that doing anything simply required a large burst of energy. Why would there be a need to compete when everything can be acquired with a thought?

Cashnur was said to have always wanted to be the strongest among the Legendary Beings. So they let him, Cashnur felt ecstatic... for 3 seconds before realising that his power, his title was for nought. What was the point of being number 1 when there were no other competitors?

Now, on the brink of ascending to the 9th dimension, Magnus contemplated. He wondered, why? Why did he strive for the power he now had? In his past life, he had also done the same. He had driven himself to insanity for power. This power had led him to his untimely demise.

He wanted to be so powerful that no enemy may bother him again. Now, he was that powerful. The family he had initially created on a whim, Nuwa, Dice. They were now most important to him. After all, he had nothing left to worry about.

Looking into his soul, he saw the mountain again. Raising his hand, Magnus erased the mountain, slowly removing it in its entirety. With a smile, he ascended.

Hi, my dear readers! I am ending the first part of this series next chapter! I kinda made a mistake by adding so many dimensions. I ran out of requirements for ascension and kinda got bored of the same old formula I seemed to be using for this story.

So yea, the next chapter is the last chapter for Grasping. I do have 2 more series set in the same universe as grasping in the writing stage so watch out!
