I would like to notify you about the recent progress regarding my rewrite of the story of the grey. Since almost half of the novel’s rewrite had been finished.
The Way of the Grey being one of my first stories here as a hobby writer is quite close to my heart. That is why I decided to freshen it up with better vocabulary, writing style and overall to expand on the possibilities of the story, while still keeping its core intact (the conclusion of the story doesn’t change).
I decided to update the current state of the book, which was slowly being posted on Royal Road, meaning that for those who have been following the story on Royal Road, there is literally no mentionable change. The main reason for this announcement is that nobody gets notified for a changed chapter, and I do not intend to re-upload the book from the start.
Anyway, so far, it has been done until chapter 48. This means there will be a slight change of style in the middle portion of the book until the rest is done. I welcome all past, present, and future readers to take a gander if you are curious or simply want to have a trip of nostalgy.
That said, the rewrite is still not a priority project, at least not beside writing my other book titled The World of Strife. That’s right, if you enjoyed any of my previous stories, I recommend checking out my ongoing original novel. Especially so if you like high fantasy stories with a twist. (Do read the story flags before reading it, please.) The novel can be found on Royal Road and Scribble Hub. It currently has 69 chapters.
Either way, I wish you a good day and enjoyable reading.
With best wishes, Yokem. (Author’s note.)
it was a good story can't wait for the next
Thank you for letting me know! :) Have a nice day.
Will there also be a rewrite of the struggles of an infected terran ? Since the two stories are linked together
Hi! I originally was planning for a continuation of sort for that, since the story is far from being properly ended. However, for now I will only rewrite the chapters where the two is intertwined and make a smoother separation for them that way. The rewrite might happen in the future, as my time and mood allows. To be fair, it is much more likely that I will leave it as it is, and instead start writing the continuation at some point. Rewriting stories is pretty dull to be honest.
@Yokem thanks for answering!
In the end, the important thing should be that YOU are satisfied with how your own work end up like.
I'll wait for you next upload then, godspeed.
@Aquaos
Satisfied or not, the unfortunate thing is I am just one person in the end. :'D Even if I don't like in fact a lot of stuff in the way they are written especially retrospactively. (As you get better in something just like writing, seeing older works will kind of make you cringe.)
What is hard to gauge without trying it out yourself is how much work actually goes into writing a single chapter of a story. While also including the fact that I almost never lack motivation or ideas to write, meaning that I rarely hesitate what or how to write out since I have a general idea about what I want to do when I start a new chapter.
Even so writing a 2000-2500 words long chapter (with my present standards) takes about 4-6 hours. Even rewriting tends to take about half of that with general editing. Meaning, if I don't want to go bankrupt in reallife there is only so much I can get to finish. :D
In the and this is but a hobby on my part, a love project so to speak.
