funny thing, fencing is highly compatible with his combat style for precision and speed.
tho if its lightning, he can also use explosive type ones.
So a rapier or spear for precision+speed
hammer or greatsword for force + speed
technically in the long run id recommend heavy weapons or wires for the late game, same reason IRL.
and heavy weapons are good for battle, unlike rapier which is limited by its dueling capacity heavy weapons are also good against monsters as shown by monster hunter. big monsters big weapons.
speed is not gonna be a problem for him and his reflexes are op due to his element so he can almost instantaneously to almost anything and that also solves the lack of power and weight in his attacks.

Greatswords aren't good for him, too big and heavy. Rapiers are quick and precise, but It would be useless against an enemy with good defense, unless he goes for the eyes.
His best choices would be a longsword, or maybe something like a katana or a saber would be even better since they don't weight as much and are very sharp. Or he could also try out using a spear, if he can get it back after throwing it he would be able to fight at close and long range if necessary and won't need to rely on his skills, but I don't he will ever get a spear based on his current "Sword" skills
@GhostKiller yah, but he has that 2nd skill of his. converting his weapon to energy form which will cover the anti def or in this case piercing option sadly it's not good for chaotic battles and not suited to the battlefield so i dont recommend it, he cant block any attacks that way. Heavy ones i mean tho he can parry or riposte(redirect the attacks), but this way he cant protect aya and claire.
@shikiraikiri We still don't know exactly how the 2nd skill works, and even if it can cover the penetration issues, that would mean he would have to rely on the skill every time he fights an opponent with a strong defense, which is not good. Parrying can be done with longswords as well, or any type of sword for that matter. Rapier is mainly used for stabbing, not for slashing or hacking, unlike a longsword or saber (Katanas are good as well, but although they are as sharp as they are fragile. Meaning that a katana type sword would break easier)
@GhostKiller yes thats why i said its not suited worst thing is he lacks offensive power against tanks so using a rapier is adding insult to the injury and its not a good weapon for a chaotic battle and against a lot of foe's, which going by the stories flow happens a lot. Monsters are an issue too, not all monsters have vital points to strike, hearts to pierce and throats to cut so using rapier is not worth it and the second skill is too energy consuming. Its like a finisher perse so a rapier is kinda a no go.
