Hey all! Jess here, just wanted to drop a little note here with some serious thanks. Slipspace has become so much more than I ever imagined it would be and it never would have happened without the help and encouragement I have gotten from you, my readers.
As for the future of Slipspace? Well, good news and bad news. Good news is that things are chugging on along here. I am keeping up with my posting schedule and my buffer is still decently healthy. I have fully plotted out this story and I have all of the major beats planned. Therein lies the bad news though. Slipspace is soon coming to an end.
There are currently just shy of 90,000 words in my documents so far and I am pretty sure I have another 10k to go, but that will be enough to close out this story. Have no fears though, its looking like this wont be the end of this universe or the end of Adresta, Vox, and Echo's adventures! The real good news is that I am currently working on the outline for BOOK 2!!
From it's humble beginnings as a dream I had, where I saw the destruction of the Oxide, Slipspace grew into a full story at the prodding of some good friends. Then, it grew even more when I was asked to run a TTRPG game in the universe! And now, that expansion to the lore has turned into the beginnings of what is becoming a second book following the next adventures of our lead girls.
In light of all of this, I have some shoutouts that I simply have to make.
First of all, my amazing girlfriend PurpleCatGirl. Many of you already read her stories and she has been an amazing inspiration to me in my continued writing.
Next, Kathryn, It was your game, your creativity that sparked my imagination back into drive after years of dormancy, Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Also my editors, Psiah and fellow author KristenOfTheCoven! Ideas, pointing out my silly mistakes, keeping me laughing at the jokes, you two have helped me to really take the rough idea I started with and turn it into a real story.
Trismegistus Shandy, you have been the final polish that made Slipspace shine! And I will never forget the stories I read all those years ago, showing me the path forward and introducing me to a world beyond the one I was raised in.
Can't forget my patrons either! When I first started this, I never even thought of myself as a real author. I was just a girl with some silly stories on the internet, but you all have given me the confidence to turn my hobby into something more. Tisha, PriyaKitten, Wyatt, Rachel the Shark, and so many more, Thank you!
And finally, to all of you. The readers here. I cannot even express what you have done for me. Every time I see another favorite, another follow, another comment, my heart beats just a little bit faster. You all are talking, theorizing, and enjoying something that I never thought would be anything special and yet we hit the front page last week. #9 on Trending. I am speechless. From the depths of my soul, you have my gratitude. If this story has touched you, please leave a comment below. Tell me your favorite parts so far. Tell me what you want to se moving forward. Your input is valued!
This one is for you.

Glad to hear the saga will continue gotta say I'd be kinda sad if we left it of at a simple happy end after having Adresta transition into her OP body. I'm really looking forward to her life with the Ericksons both in personal and professional capacity.
That is also leading me into what I think makes this novel special. First of all how mindbogglingly detailed you carry us through the story. It really feels much more like diving into the shoes of our MC than if it was more rushed. Which also leads to my second point, it feels less like wish fullfillment as many many other Gender Bender novels here do, since it shows us Adresta through her highs and lows without any obvious sprinkling of mary sue making our MC ultra special for no reason. I guess we will see how her new body will play into this but I am not too worried given what I have already read in the first book. It just feels like a realistic story of human characters, albeit the Ericksons are almost angels. I also appreciate the setting. Really got me into sci fi after years of basically only fantasy.
Seriously tho, Bethesda should pay you a bit for marketing, it was through this novel exclusively that when I hit upon their coming game "Starfield" that I even got interested at all. In the beginning I was just kinda irritated some game I've never heard of is holding up my new Elder Scrolls game but now I am HYPED, mostly because this novel has reminded my of my love of sci-fi which has been laying basically dormant for the better part of a decade.
So you are doing good! Looking forward to what the second book will bring. And of course to meeting Adresta anew soon as well as seeing her going to the process of becoming her "new self" I imagine there will be happy vibes in our future for a while at least
wooow you're making me cry over here! Like I said, this started as a dream, I watched her life. I wanted to do her story justice and I couldn't do that just zipping through. When I read a story, Im looking for one of two things, setting or character. For a setting, I want to see it built up as a place that stories happen in. Things need to be happening, there needs to be intrigue, I want to be able to imagine what else might be happening.
What I did here was more character driven. For a character, I want to know their motivations, their feelings, I want to know how they live and relate to people. That is what this started as, but then the world expanded and I find myself juggling both of these goals. I only hope that I can do it justice!
As for the rest of your comment, gosh I think you give me far too much credit, Im just an author, but if I can inspire others, there is no greater accomplishment I could hope to achieve!
It's been a joy to proofread Slipspace. Hard-ish sf like this is rare in trans fiction and even rarer on Scribblehub.
I know I am a bit late to this and i wpuld like to ssid something meaningful to praise you and the story since you truly deserve it but sadly words aren't my thing and can't really find the ones that make you and this story justice. I cried a bit, i got excited and had a lot of fun along this wonderful piece of literature, so i see feet that i thank you deeply from the core of my soul that you shared this amazing story here and let us all enjoy the ups and downs of our lovely MC. Thanks for everything and good luck with the future of the story, I will look forward to read more and will do my best to try and said more tho most of the time a few silly emotes will have to do >.> words hard >.<
thank you so much for this story, it's been such a breath of fresh air!
it was great to finally find a story about an *actual* trans woman who doesn't just go through a magical instant transition at the beginning! i get *why* it's such a common trope but gosh i wish more stories explored transness in a more realistic way. which you did wonderfully, even though the insta-transition is the endgame ^^
and to finally read a good sci-fi after the endless slew of fantasy. nothing against fantasy but it seems wildly more prevalent in here and i personally prefer starships and science over swords and sorcery ^^;
I'm really looking forward to reading more of your stories!
Ive always been a sci fi nerd. I grew up on Star trek and stargate for TV and loved a lot of other Scifi IPs since so it felt right to me to do a scifi story
I love Slipspace! Found it this morning and I love it so much!
Slipspace has so far been a joy to follow! It's a good scifi setting and a good story and I really loved that this wasn't an instant magical transition at the start but instead a true trans story with all the sh*t we have to endure.
On a second note: I can only approve of your decision to end the story in a good place and then continue on to a second book. Having tight story arcs is good for a story and makes them enjoyable to read.
Thank you for writing this and I'll be glad to follow your writing in the future
I always wanted Slipspace to be a more realistic take at a trans adventure. The scifi elements are harder than most other stories and there is a lot more gritty nastiness going on in the background. Unfortunately, I don't think humans are really going to change that much over the years. Her life has a lot going on, but at the end of the day, Adresta is just trying to live her life. She makes mistakes just like anyone else, she has issues and also triumphs. The reality is that life as someone who is different than what most consider 'the norm' is going to be difficult and I don't want to shy away from that here.
Adresta WILL get her happy ending, I promise. Regardless of the realism involved, this is my story and I'm not going to leave my precious protagonist in the same or a worse spot than she started in. This is fiction and I have the power to make sure that things turn out for the best. But just like us in the twenty-first century, she's having to get there.
It's been a real pleasure working with you Jess, we're so excited to see where Slipspace goes next!!!
We love the story because it's that good! Thank you for sharing it with us
Too bad she could look at footages of thé asshole. (From the trial). Would have loved to see him squirm on the bench.
Oh Adresta will be watching all of that with interest....
Honestly, even if it were to end would be something in and of itself. There are A LOT of people on this site and others that just aimlessly continue stories with no goal in sight. However the fact that it is continuing and has a properly thought out plot moving forward is great to hear, I really like these characters. There are not many stories that explore their characters pre transition, instead most will wave the magic wand within the first few chapters and then everything is good on that front.
