Maybe it would be best to not use this one particularly often. It’s not like I could actually use it in combat judging from the long cast time, but still, I wouldn’t want to accidentally become a victim of a spell like this. With my luck it probably wouldn’t happen, but let’s just make it a finisher for super strong enemies.

For that I would need Felicia to become strong enough to be able to stall time for me. Maybe it wouldn’t be so hard? She’s a genius after all. I have no idea how strong my enemy would have to be for me to need to use that spell, but it’s good to have something for a situation where I meet it.

I would probably need more training to at least put the cast time under ten minutes, but it was still too far to care for now. I needed to get other elements under my control before I started going after something as advanced as this. I wasn’t sure how this one was called, there was no entry on it in my internal library, and I’ve never seen someone use something similar.

Let’s just name it void for now. It feels appropriate and sounds cool, so I’m going to go with it.

Okay, so now there is only one basic element left to master, namely earth. And now I have completely no idea how to start, since synthesizing stone was almost impossible, and just controlling it would be different from what I wanted to achieve. But maybe that was the answer? To control the dirt around you, and not to create your own one?

With air magic I actually controlled the existing air, I didn’t create it on my own, so maybe all I could do about earth would be to lift it and throw it? But how would that be different from throwing a rock? I was slowly starting to feel dejected, but then again, a brilliant idea came to my mind.

What if I lift the solid stone into air, then compress it into a shape of a spike, and only then proceed to throwing it? The additional piercing power would be devastating, and since it would be controlled by mana there would be no way of it hitting in any different way than with a sharp end.

I did exactly the thing I thought about, and results were fairly satisfying. It wasn’t as destructive as previous elements, but the speed was fast and piercing power was enough to qualify it as a weapon against some of the armored enemies. The thing was I would need to have some solid stone around to make it work.

I could probably use normal dirt, but I would need to compress it which would take some time and mana, and I was pretty sure there were a lot of areas that were protected from using magic on them, making them impervious to my control. I was also pretty sure I would need to compress normal stone too if my enemy’s armor was strong enough to block my normal hits.

It wasn’t even sure if it would qualify as magical attack or as a physical one. Wait a second… None of elements I used could be qualified as magic, even the fire was just a natural phenomenon I created with mana. It couldn’t possibly be a magic attack if I just controlled a part of nature and not created it from pure mana.

Felicia’s ice disappeared as soon as it was shattered, and when she was using it before, it never stayed for longer than a couple of minutes, always returning into nothingness. But when I created water, it left a puddle where it fell and showed no signs of disappearing anytime soon.

What would happen if I had to face an enemy that was immune to physical damage? Would I have to depend on Felicia all the time? But why do I feel like I’m forgetting something?

Okay, let’s just ignore the fact that I forgot about already defeating an enemy who was immune to physical damage. Let’s ignore the fact that I used pure mana back then along with a freshly acquired skill. Hmm, but that one didn’t seem like magic too, and yet it dealt something akin to magical damage.

I have no idea how darkness would be physical, and yet I managed to use it without an actual magic involved, just with the help of the system. Well, the system was magic in itself, so maybe that could explain things. Or it could just be that physical damage was derived from all sort of impact, no matter if it was with something blunt, sharp or even exploding, and everything that could deal damage without said impact counted to magic.

Going by that, fire would actually count as magical and so would be my darkness and void from before. Of course I might be entirely wrong on that one, but I feel that I’m close to actual answer.

What would happen if I tried infusing mana into my spells in addition to the one I use to control objects. I quickly tried my theory, quickly arriving at an answer that I simply had no idea if it did something. I could feel my mana draining, and I could feel it permeating the stone I used to shoot, but the effect didn’t change when it hit.

But that concluded my tests on basic elements. I wasn’t sure if it was fast or not, but I could say that I already had a decent understanding on magic, even if I didn’t get any skill for it. I decided to see if the dragon had any other lessons for me, and returned to the place where he was overseeing Felicia.

Wait, why is the dragon unconscious? And why is there a huge ass tree in the middle of the training grounds? And most importantly, where is that overactive cat!?
