[“Good think I had this resurrection item on me. That cost me some levels, but I guess it’s my fault for telling you to attack me with everything you got. Still I’ve never seen a spell like that, it’s surely your original spell. You have no idea how many times I tried to create one and never succeeded. Are you sure you’re not a genius yourself?”]

I still can’t believe I killed an ancient dragon. I still can’t believe he’s talking to me like nothing serious happened. More than that, now I want that resurrecting item for myself. Why does it even exist in the first place? I definitely got the experience from killing him, and yet he stands in front of me, while talking about losing a few levels.

Where did all that energy for resurrection come from? You can’t just give your levels to somebody and then easily return to your previous state. Did it come from the dungeon? Are there any requirements for it to work? This was simply too impossible for me to comprehend, so in the end I stopped caring.

[“Well, judging by your earlier performance, I guess we can assume you are ready for the next lesson. Actually It’s not that much harder than magic and could be taught simultaneously with it, but it should be easier to learn things one at a time. I paid the price for my curiosity, so I assume we can proceed now?”]

I nodded with my head at his words since again, I was curious at what he was going to teach us next. I was pretty certain he was going to test Felicia too, but I got a feeling that it was exactly what happened when he got knocked out. Poor dragon must have taken a hit to his confidence.

[“Okay, so this will be the last and probably the easiest lesson for you two, since you can control mana enough and achieved the mana coat already. This technique lets you use mana to travel in any space. It lets you stick to walls and ceilings, fly in the air,  move in water and even swim through the ground if you have an ability to phase.”]

[“It’s done by changing the density of mana surrounding you I assume?”]

Wait, why is he dropping his head again, did he really want to teach us that much?

[“I know how to do it, but I’m still new at it and I never saw Felicia figuring it out, so it would be nice if you taught the proper way of using this technique to us.”]

Oh, he perked up again, what a predictable dragon.

In the end I didn’t learn anything new, but got to practice the movement technique I thought about earlier. Basically, by manipulating the denseness of mana around myself, I was able to “ride” the one in the environment. It was easy to imagine, and quite easy to reproduce, but a bit hard to master.

It actually took me a whole two weeks to… give up. That’s right, I just couldn’t do it. Of course Felicia was flying like a bird the same day she learned how, but for me it was slightly different. The problem didn’t lie in my inability to manipulate mana, which I could do on a quite good level, but rather it was because of my mana coat structure.

I could wear it if I used scales that’s true, but their density was set when I created them. I could change them one at a time, but it took even more effort and time than just their creation. If I wanted to ride on mana, I would have to constantly monitor it’s density, and then my armor’s one if I detected even the slightest change.

To do that with every single scale of my coat, was physically impossible. Just deploying it took some time, and now I had to change how dense it was? This surely must be a joke, and not very funny at that. So, without anything better to do, without any ideas suddenly appearing, I just gave up.

There was much more interesting matter at hand, namely my next evolution. I have never suspected being able to level up by that much under that dragon, but well, I guess he didn’t suspect getting himself killed too. What a good deal it was, to be able to kill the boss and gain the experience basically without a single drop of sweat.

Well, I don’t think spiders have sweat glands anyway?

They don’t, right?

I’m pretty sure that’s true.

Anyway, let’s take a look at my possible future forms.

[Possible evolutions:]
[Arch albino Tarantula]
[Albino mana spider]
[Arachnid]
[???]

Oh, I see a new possible choice there. Mana spider is basically an upgrade to my current race, that should make it easier for me to use magic. I should also get smarter, but for some reason even if the same thing was said about mu current race, I just can’t notice any difference. Maybe I’m just too smart for the system to improve me anymore buahaha.

That must be the case. Now what about the other one, that isn’t just a plain upgrade?

[Arachnid]
[A seemingly humanoid race of monsters discarded by gods at the final stage of introducing the system. It’s has a bipedal form with two seemingly human arms, but instead of skin, its body is covered in exoskeleton. It has four additional limbs at its back, but they are slightly weaker than the monster’s arms. Its slightly weaker and less dexterous than its non-humanoid siblings, but it possess much greater level of intelligence and has better ability to use tools. It was discarded because of a fundamental flaw resulting from them being warm-blooded while also having a thick exoskeleton simply making them prone to overheat.]

Oh. Well, I don’t want to have a humanoid form anyway.

I’m going with mana spider.

Aaand, I blacked out again.
