[First of all, you are my daughter. You wasn’t born here because your egg was stolen not long after I laid it. Stolen by a single human that managed to go through a whole nest and then defeat me. I will never forgive him for what he did, and I can only hope he’s dead by now.]

That was a shock, maybe this guy whose skeleton I saw when i woke up was the one that stole me from my mother?

[I’m pretty sure that is the case, there aren't may humans in this forest, I don’t know what he has done to you, but it seems that he managed to fully connect you to the system that is governing over this world.]

Isn’t everyone connected to it? Monsters have levels too.

[They aren’t only connected, they are part of the system. A part that doesn’t get many benefits from it. First of all, the system was created for humans by gods, and only they can receive full support. Or at least it was like that until you were connected. You see, humans once destroyed this world. If not for the gods, this place would be a barren wasteland with no life at all. Since gods couldn’t recreate normal animals because of world pollution, they created monsters that were much sturdier than animals and gave them ability to evolve.]

So monsters are a substitution to everything that lived before? But monsters are dangerous, is it the reason why humans get power from slaying them? To be able to defend against them?

[That’s pretty much the main reason. Gods didn’t want humanity to perish, since they give them a lot of power, and gave them a lot of help. The system has other benefits besides making one stronger. It helps humans survive in the pollution left after their war, it also helps them make colonies since it scares monsters away. ]

They sure got preferential treatment. But what’s with “it scares monsters away”? I got nothing but chased by monsters everywhere.

[Didn’t you experience sudden desertion of the area close to where you made a nest?]

When I think about it, it sure was like that. I though they were scared of my webs but was this system’s doing?

[Yes it was, and it’s the main reason why you can’t stay here unfortunately. When I laid your egg, it took most of my energy, and you were supposed to be born as a species close to a queen, but for that, the egg needed perfect conditions. If it wasn’t for that human’s meddling you wouldn’t experience what you did with monsters, and wouldn’t be as weak as you’re now. Now that you are connected to the system you can get stronger than us, but you can’t stay here, because if you did, we wouldn’t be able to find food in close vicinity and the whole nest would be ruined.]

So I was supposed to be born as a strong monster? And because of this human I was merely an inferior? Now that made me angry, but more than that, I was sad because I couldn’t live with my family. What was I supposed to do now?

[It pains me more than you think that I have to abandon my child. For what you can do now, this nest is a first floor of a dungeon, you could try to conquer it and by doing this meet a god. Maybe they could do something about your connection to the system. Of course we would give you as much support as possible, but we can’t enter higher floors with you.]

A dungeon? Meeting with gods? It sure sounded great. It was better than aimless wandering inside the forest. I was sad that I had to leave the safe nest, but it wasn’t as bad as dying while not knowing my family. And my mother said she would support me but how, since nobody could enter the dungeon with me?

[By helping you evolve of course, connection to the system probably made it easier for you. We will provide enough experience points for you to reach maximum level and evolve.]

Wow, that would be helpful. I don’t like idea of delving into dangerous place while still being inferior species. Maybe when I evolve I can get rid of this prefix. Maybe with my parent’s help I’ll even be able multiple times?

[Unfortunately, since system already acknowledged this area as your home, monsters already started disappearing. We can provide maybe one or two snakes, and that’s all. I’m really sorry about that but you will have to go soon.]

I understood that my mother had a whole swarm of spiders under her that she considered family, and I couldn’t be the only one in her heart, but having to leave home just as I found it nearly made me cry. I swear I will find the reason why this guy separated me from my family and made me unable to return. If I ever be able to meet his soul, I’ll make sure he suffers like me.

[If you meet the god on the highest floor, he might be able to tell you why you were abducted and this guy’s reasons. As much as I would like to destroy him myself it seems he’s already dead. Now, as much as I would like to talk with you longer, we have to move, or our whole family will be in danger of starvation.]

I understood. As sad as it was, I couldn’t endanger my family. I went along with my mother to another place where a lot of my brothers and sisters were gathered, and saw something covered in white webs. It was struggling but wasn’t strong enough to get out of it’s prison. My mother signaled me it was my prize.

I was guided to a part that wasn’t covered in webs and had some scales peeled. Then I bit into the what seemed to be the snake and started to pump poison with all my might. It didn’t give expected results as snake was a lot more resistant than I thought, but I didn’t stop.

It was only after a long time, but the monster finally started to frantically struggle and then after a couple of minutes dropped dead.

[Obtained enough experience. Level risen to 6]
[Obtained enough experience. Level risen to 7]
[Obtained enough experience. Level risen to 8]
[Obtained enough experience. Level risen to 9]
[Obtained enough experience. Level risen to 10]
[Maximum experience reached. Evolution possible]

As expected of the giant snake, my level hit maximum in one go. My mother probably saw it and smiled, even though spiders wasn’t able to do it, but she was smiling in my mind.
