“Ah! Ah!” In the far distance, a terrified and blood-curdling scream filled with despair and hopelessness suddenly rang out.

Hearing this terrified and agonizing scream, Dante couldn’t help but shiver as his limbs almost went limp due to shock.

He knew who this voice belonged to. It was none other than Hegel who has fallen behind him. Unlike Hegel who had 12 points of agility and speed, his was 17. As such, he was way faster than Hegel.

It might seem like nothing as it was only a 5 stats points difference, but it was in fact extremely great. It was like comparing the speed of a tortoise to that of a rabbit.

Meanwhile, carried by the gust of wind, the miserable shriek seemed to echo directly into Dante’s eardrum which caused a chill to run down his spine.

It was as if Hegel was right behind him rather than far away. The miserable shriek was also accompanied by a faint eerie chewing sound.

With fear still spread through his body, Dante immediately threw away the round silver shield he was carrying along with the sword on his waist to make his body lighter as he continued to make his escape.

He didn’t even dare to look back. He knew that once that terrifying monster was done with Hegel, he was its next target. At this point, he wished he had two more legs in order to quickly flee from this place.

Soon, the inhuman scream distorted into a miserable and unearthly squeal in the distance as Hegel was begging for a quick death. After a few seconds, the miserable squeals died down until it completely fell silent.

‘Hegel is dead.’ Inwardly thought Dante.

With red tearing eyes and a face tainted with fear and terror, Dante steeled his heart as he increased his speed to the max and continued to run into the inner area of the ruined city without looking back

Dante wasn’t a cold-hearted man nor did he not care about Hegel. However, he knew what fate awaited him if he were to turn back or stop.

Who wasn’t afraid of death, let alone a gruesome and inhumanely painful one?

Meanwhile, not even two minutes have passed since Hegel’s miserable squeals have died down, Dante suddenly heard an angry growl from in the distance along with the increasing sound of footsteps.

Without hesitation, he quickly turned his head back and to his surprise, he saw the six-legged monster chasing behind him at an incredibly fast speed in the distance.

Its burning, amber eyes were fixated upon him while licking its bloody fangs as if it haven’t gotten enough.

“What the fuck……!” Dante cursed out loud with a deathly pale and frightened expression on his face. He couldn’t believe his eyes.

Just how long did it take that damn monster to devour an entire human being?

Doesn’t it ever get full or something?

[Stamina has permanently increased by 1]

[Agility has permanently increased by 1]

‘Marvelous.’ Primordius inwardly thought with a hint of excitement in his eyes as his speed suddenly increased and was closing the distance between him and Dante.

This was something he had discovered earlier while hunting the first group of people. He realized that he could increase his stats without devouring or eating another creature.

That was even more true for his stamina and agility. Every time his legs reached his limits and his stamina drained, he would feel a stream of power that suddenly came into being in his body and spread throughout his tired legs and his entire body.

He did not know where this stream of power came from but it was generated automatically. Every time it came about, he would feel reinvigorated like a dried tree meeting the coming of spring and once again exuded signs of life.

Both his stamina and agility stats would be increased as well. This was completely independent from the stats points he usually gained from devouring other creatures and leveling up.

[Stamina has permanently increased by 1]

[Agility has permanently increased by]

He truly enjoyed this kind of feeling. Every time he transcended his physical limits, this stream of refreshing energy would be generated again and again from the deepest part of his already exhausted body.

He even felt his body’s transformations. That was due to the potential stored up in the deepest part of his monster body. He was getting stronger and faster by the minutes.

Even though it could be considered as an Iron Rank magic beast by the inhabitants of this world due to his current level, his agility stat and stamina stat were already comparable to that of a Silver Rank magic beast, and his strength stat to a peak Bronze Rank magic beast.

It was the main reason it was able to easily overpower the first group of people despite some of their levels being higher than him combined with his insane defense which was the result of his hard and thick obsidian black scales.

As Dante continued to run, his speed was decreasing instead of increasing. At the same time, the distance between Primordius and him was shortening.

At this point, Dante was at his limits. One had to understand, that despite running for more than ten minutes, Dante hasn’t encountered another living soul due to the vastness of the abandoned and ruined city.

After a few more seconds, he could hear the guttural growl of the monster right behind him mingle with eager laughter.

Out of the corner of his eye, he could see that the savage beast has caught up with him. Its grin spread in ghoulish pleasure, cracked lips pulling back from a set of jaws caked with long and sharp razor teeth coated with blood.

“Help……..”

“Help…….someone help me please…”

“I am being chased by a monster.” Knowing that he wouldn’t be able to outrun the monster, Dante began to scream his lungs out for help.

His clothes were soaked with sweat and his eyes stung from salty tears. Drained of all vigor, his steps were becoming heavy and heavier. He was at the edge of his mental fortitude.

His mouth was running with foam and his muscles were screaming for reprieve. Nonetheless, he didn’t dare to stop as he continued to run as if his life depended on it.

He was full of regrets at the moment. He should have listened to Handal. If he knew that something like that was going to happen, he wouldn’t have been so bold to barge into this damn hellish place.

[You have gained 10 fear points]

[You have gained 10 despair points]

[You have gained 10 fear points]

[You have gained 10 despair points]

‘Hahahahaha!’ Looking at how Dante was struggling to survive as well as listening to the system’s notification, Primordius couldn’t help but feel elated.

It was unknown if it was a hobby he has developed after becoming a monstrous beast or whether he’s been like that all along, but Primordius truly enjoyed the sight of his prey falling into despair while struggling to survive while there was no way out.

‘It’s time to end this.’ Primordius inwardly said as his speed instantly reached its zenith and quickly caught up to Dante.

Even a Silver Rank warrior would have a hard time keeping with Primordius’s speed, let alone a Bronze rank one.

Shoopsh!

With a howl of delight, Primordius leaped through the air with his huge mouth wide open as he tried to bite Dante’s head off.

“Nooooo!!”

Seeing this, Dante was both shocked and frightened. He was frightened until his face was deathly pale. He hurriedly tried to avoid the bite with his tired body…….but, Primordius’ reaction was simply too fast.

Though he was aiming for the head, due to Dante’s invasion attempt, Primordius’ gaping jaw landed on his right shoulder.

“Crack.......”

In the next second, a chilling sound of bones breaking could be heard as Primordius mercilessly bit off Dante’s shoulder crushing his clavicle bone before brutally ripping his arm off his body.

“Ah!” Having his arm forcefully severed from his body, Dante suddenly let out a miserable shriek as this whole process was so excruciating and the pain was more than he could handle.

“Pluff!”

At the same time, blood was gushing from the severed arm like a fountain. However, Primordius didn’t stop there. With Dante falling to the ground, he began to ravenously devour him one bite at a time while still being alive.

“Ah!”

Dante was screaming nonstop throughout the process and was trying to crawl away with his severely bitten-off body.

However, Primordius didn’t look the least bit fazed and didn’t show an ounce of mercy as he continued about his business. Dante’s cry of misery was like music to his ears.

His favorite part was the heart and the brain as they were the most delicious, especially the heart which was why he always started with the chest.

Aside from that, the heart contained the most amount of energy while the brain contained the memories of the victim.

At this moment, Dante’s Chest was torn open, exposing his organs as Primordius has ripped away all the flat bones of his rib cage while indulging himself in his bloody fresh internal organs and slowly making his way to his pumping heart.

It was unknown when but after a while Dante’s scream died down until he went completely silent. He lay there in a pool of his own blood.

The poor guy’s face was still frozen in the rictus of terror he had in his final moments. By this time, his lower and upper were gone, and only his head and neck remained.

Meanwhile, as Primordius was enjoying his meal, a few kilometers away, an otherworldly lean handsome middle-aged man with silver hair dressed in exquisite noble attire stood atop an old tatter and broken remained of what used to be a citadel while looking towards Primordius’ direction.

At his hip, a longsword hung in a beautifully
crafted scabbard, the cobalt finish
of the hilt deepened by the sun’s light.

His eyes were like polished rubies and gleamed with predatory guile. His pupils contained a unique golden pattern that shone brightly as he revealed a glared capable of crossing time and space.

He had a slight smile on his face as he was looking into the distance, clearly pleased with what he was seeing.

“Interesting, so this is the so-called magic beast that’s been terrorizing the people in the dark evil forest.” Said the middle-aged man nonchalantly.

From his calm expression, one could tell that he wasn’t the least bit of afraid of Primordius nor disturbed by his brutality.

“It looks and acts more like a demon beast rather than a magic beast.” He added with a pensive expression.

However, the demon continent was pretty far away, so what the hell a demon beast was doing in the Elwood continent?

‘Is he the pet of another powerful demon’

“Why don’t I go capture it and maybe I could find about its owner” He added as a swirl of azure energy surrounded him before he dropped from the rooftop, landing expertly on the ground, and ran toward Primordius’ direction in an amazingly fast speed.
