Days turned into weeks as they rolled by while I spent those time getting familiar to the Power Stone.

Due to the volatility of the Power Stone, which normally would have been very dangerous to anyone if they didn’t use a medium to harness its energy like Thanos did, I was able to absorb its energy easier since, well, I was the most volatile person I knew.

I couldn’t use Mars for my experiments because, well the whole world was in panic because at least one quarter of Mars was already destroyed.

Nat had been giving me the stares ever since that little tidbit became public knowledge.

Public opinions were torn in different views that either it was the government testing satellite weapons as the world was entering a new age of warfare.

Surprisingly the opinion that got the most traction was ‘The Aliens’.

Weird tales about there being a civil war on Mars that the aliens there finally pulled all stops and started throwing around weapons of mass destruction.

The funny part was that the government was seriously considering whether or not it was true, about the aliens on Mars that is.

I left the world to cry about their planetary insecurity while I focused on mine. The year had been too calm for me and I knew that trouble was just around the corner if any of my past experiences were to be given any credence.

I still didn’t forget about my experiments pertaining to giving abilities to the others.

My recent strides in my mastery of the Power Stone lead me to believe that it was actually possible to give abilities as along as you could handle the toll that the Power Stone exerts.

Case in point was the punch that Thanos delivered to Captain Marvel in the Endgame. That was an enhanced cosmic version of a super punch that was able to hurt someone who could absorb any kind of kinetic impacts and strengthen themselves with it.

The Power Stone was a relic of pure unadulterated power that could be harnessed at any point, as long as you could pay the price.

Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The Power Stone functions as the perfect base and also a crux that holds the Infinity Stones together. Letting them all blend with each other without stepping into each other’s domain while also acting as a magnifier to all of them.

I was in the middle of working with the stones when the sky rumbled and lightning streaked across it.

The clouds began forming a swirl and I immediately recognized what was happening.

“Seriously? You could have waited until I was done before sending them to me, Odin?” I didn’t care whether he heard what I said, didn’t stop me from saying it.

And like I predicted, Thor with the Warrior Three behind me flanked by Loki, appeared put of the beam of light.

“Yelena, scramble any satellite that pinged into our location because of the starlight bridge.” Even though I was far away from home, I could still communicate with those at home. Who said Charles was the strongest telepath on Earth?

With the way I was, I could communicate with anyone on earth with much strain. Combining my spatial authority and my psychic abilities easily enabled me to cover the whole planet with a psychic field.

–“The Asgardians?”–

“The Asgardians.”

–“Do you need backup?”–

“…”

–“Right, dumb question.”–

“…”

–“So… Can I come over?”–

“No.”

I cut the telepathic call as soon Yelena started pleading her case and made to welcome my unwanted guest.

As the voice of his people, Thor strode forward with confidence. I could tell the reason for his confidence as compared to before, during our first confrontation, his energy bubbling in his body was monumental…but he was still lacking, by a huge amount that it wasn’t even funny. But given who he was and what I knew of him, only time was needed and the right motivation for him to unlock his potential…. Odin that sly bastard. He was using me as a whetstone for his sons.

“We meet again, Son of the Saint.”

“Can we do this another day? I get you guys love your fight as much as the next impossible guy but can you postpone your inevitable beat down by, I don’t know, one year?” I immediately got tired as soon as I saw the amount of excitement the huge man was radiating. He was totally having this fight before he would go back to Asgard.

“I am having this fight before I return glorious to Asgard.” His annoying voice boomed through the empty environment. “I suggest you summon your comrades. My friends will be having their revenge too.” He gestured to the other excited rabid dogs with him.

“What’s up, Loki? Did you lose your tongue?” I asked Loki who had been silent since the beginning.

“Oh, no such thing I assure you. But you do feel different.” Loki made an acute observation showing that despite his weakness as compared to Thor, he was no fool. Far from it.

“And I’m sure I can’t count on you to persuade your brother to bring his friends back to Asgard, can I?”

He gave me the most insincere smile he could muster, which was his default smile. “Like you, he doesn’t listen to anyone when he sets his mind on something.”

“Right.”

“Are you listening to me, Draul?” Thor called out to me as he matched forward.

“Yes yes. One beating coming right up.” Before any of them could react, the scenery around us changed, revealing the blazing familiar mountain of Mars to me.

They had no problem breathing on Mars due to their Asgardian physiology.

“What sorcery is this? Where have you taken us to?” Thor asked, seemingly unbothered for the most part but the same could not be said for his party.

“This is Mars, a sister planet to Earth. And this will be your classroom where you will be taught the most important life lesson you ever learned: fear.”

The color on their faces changed as my form changed and a stifling atmosphere permeated the top of the mountain.

“What in Odin’s beard is that?” Someone said from their crew but I didn’t care who it was as my only goal today was to instill a fear so profound in their hearts that they would rather stay at home. And what better fear than one that takes control of every living being's thought process and degrades it – the fear of death.

Killing intent like never before leaked out of my body which sent the Asgardian into huddling up in a small circle as they prepared to face me.

“You do not frighten me. Victory shall come to me by mine hammer.” Thor said, displaying and incredible sense of bravery… but that would make the impact more harder.

Out of all of them, the only ones who had the correct expression which showed how fucked they were was Loki and Fandral.

Sif, Volstagg and Thor looked at me like I was one of their other conquest they’ve conquered through the centuries of their lives.

“Do not die so quickly… Odinson.”

First of all, set the mood.

Before any of them knew what was happening, I appeared behind Volstagg and drove a red lance straight through his body.

“Volstagg! Watch out!”

Alas it was too late as Volstagg fell on the ground, bleeding out. Inching ever so close to death with every drop of blood that flowed out.

“Odinson, his life is hanging by a thread that would snap any minute due to your actions. So choose what would it be?” To be honest, I didn’t see Thor as someone older than me given the kind of mentality he had. It was the same way I wouldn’t respect an elder if all he talked about was bullshit.

And from what I’ve seen of Thor, he was in dire need of a lesson: humility.

“I will be calling on my favor very soon, Odin Allfather.” I muttered under my breath away from the ears of my company.

I knew Odin and Heimdall had their eyes currently on our location and if he thought he could use me to teach his sons a lesson he failed to in their one thousand years of life for free, then he had something else going on for him.

“You… you will pay for that! ARRRGHH!” With a trademark viking shout he lead the others and charged at me.

“Stupid.” Thor flew towards me ahead of the others bearing his hammer as he came down on me with lightning overhead, stronger than what he could summon during our last time.

“So you didn’t learn anything from our encounter last time? What do you think would happen if you hit me with a stronger lightning?”

Thor for his part didn’t react to my taunt and the next moment as he brought down his hammer told me why.

The lightning went back into the hammer and the hammer came back with a force so great that it ripped apart the space surrounding the hammer.

Oh Mjolnïr would hurt if it hit me like it would anyone. The enchantments Odin put in that hammer made it such a terrifying weapon even when the whole universe was taken into consideration.

An hammer that was strong enough to break a Celestial’s armor was not one I would even think of handling with my own body, regardless of if I was space. Space was nothing in front of Mjolnïr and it was proven as Thor brought it down.

Sure Mjolnïr was an overpowered and broken weapon, but Thor wasn’t.

The moment the hammer was but a fraction of a centimeter away from hitting me, I warped myself above Thor and punched his face so hard against the ground that the mountain cracked and an avalanched formed.

Thor coughed out blood as I choked him with one hand.

The others were frozen in their steps as they saw the bloodied form of Thor after just one exchange.

“Do not despair yet. The lesson has just begun.”

In front of everyone, one of my hand held both legs of Thor together and faster than they could comprehend, I smashed his head against his fallen hammer making him cry out more blood.

“THOR!!... I’LL KILL YOU, MONSTER!” Sif shouted and rushed at me which brought the others out of their stupor and they immediately fell into pace.

“Look what your brashness has done to your friends, Odinson.” Thor wanted to say something but I flung him so far away that if we were on Earth, he would have been in a different country.

I saw Mjolnïr flying away, probably going to Thor, but before he comes back I had to prepare the proper stage for their lesson.

Sif, blinded by rage rushed at me, sword in hand and swung it at my midsection while Hogun and Fandral flanked my sides.

I didn’t react even as their weapons clashed against the construct I erected and bounced off.

Two of them were fast enough to react but Hogun was slow and the price he paid for that was an arm and burnt chest as my laser beams destroyed everything on the left side of his body, including his face.

I felt space shifting a few hundred kilometers from and in the next instant, bypassing the distance within the fraction of a second, Mjolnïr was up in my face again… something which irritated me greatly.

My body disintegrated into a blue smoke that swallowed the hammer, stranding it in the freezing planet of Pluto.

Thor landed in front of me with his hands stretched only for his eyes to widen as he knew that the hammer was worlds away from his present location.

This realization made him look around, notifying him of his friend's dire state.

“No… No… NO!!”

“What you are feeling right now is the fear of loss. Close but not what I want you to feel, prideful prince.” At that moment, fear flashed through Thor’s eyes and he stepped back. “Are you going to call Heimdall? Or would you rather run to your dear old father’s bosom? I’m afraid, but they can’t hear or see you.” That was a lie but he didn’t need to know that… unfortunately..

“Heimdall! HEIMDALL!!... FATHER, SAVE US!!... No.” His face turned pale and he stumbled back on his feet as a scenario that he never thought of was probably playing through his head.
