In a certain manor, far away from any towns or cities, secluded from the world, and on a certain night during a new moon, when the world was dyed by the light of stars alone and the figure that waxed and waned had begun the process of its rebirth, two figures could be seen, trembling as they trudged through the silent halls…

One, a young girl, had taken the lead, but repeatedly broke her pace in order to look at the young boy behind her, who was nervously playing with something in his pocket with one hand...and clutching a dagger in the other.

They made their way past doors that were penetrated by loud gossip, empty kitchens that had been thoroughly cleaned, weathered doors that could have protected any number of long abandoned rooms and chambers, and various gathering areas that had been left in a state of disarray. However, despite having walked through the empty halls for so long, not a single person’s presence had interrupted them.

Liza: “Young master...we’ve almost arrived at the exit…”

She turned around again, but this time the young boy, Fate, had stopped dead in his tracks, shuddering as he continued to tighten his grip around the hilt of the dagger in his hand, and was running his eyes over a series of small, glass bottles that he had brought out from his pocket…

He looked listless, yet restless, as his body still shook and quivered while not a single speck of light could be found in his eyes, it was as if he had become a shivering corpse. The air around him was deathly depressing, making it so that Liza couldn’t easily approach him…

Fate: “D-death...huh. I...g-guess...that this...is...the end of my rope…”

Fate looked down at the dagger, watching his reflection in its blade...swearing that he could see death quickly approaching him, ready to swing its icy scythe through his chest and end his life…

-I feel scared...so why did I keep moving...why have I just been fiddling with the stuff in my pocket instead of finding a way to escape…? Am I just that far gone, or…?

Fate raised his head, his dead-eyed gaze piercing through Liza’s concerned eyes…

Fate: “...Is...there a chance…?”

The aura around him seemed to freeze Liza in place, only allowing her to watch as Fate’s condition continued to deteriorate. Her eyes began to wander to the four bottles in his hand that each glowed different colors. One was an apple red, another glowed with an emerald green light, the third was a lemonish yellow, and the final one glowed with a dark purplish red light, almost like wine…

Fate: “...Do you...want these...?”

His gloomy and icy tone shocked Liza, as her focus snapped up to Fate’s dead eyes, and he held up the bottles in his hand, shoving them towards her…

Fate: “I figured...that I might as well...give you something for all the s-snacks...before my life comes to a close…”

[Clack][Click][Clack]

The bottles collided as they rolled across his palm, clicking and clacking as he began to slowly approach her with his hand outstretched. Once he finally reached her, Liza was able to look into the dark abyss of his cold blue eyes, which caused her spine to chill as a sad smile crept across his face…

Fate seemed to notice her stillness under his gaze, and so shut his eyes as he felt his sadness creeping up from his stomach, filling him with regret as he pushed the small bottles into Liza’s unmoving hand…

Fate: “...Thanks...for...a-all...y-your-r...h-hard...work...Sorry, Liza…”

However, though Liza took his hand, she refused to let the bottles leave it, instead gripping gently as she raised her other hand to his head, patting it gently as tears sprouted in the corners of her eyes...

Liza: “My lord…I will accompany you…”

I'll have to complete the chapters soon, but I might have to run over 12 o' clock because my family is desperately forcing me to watch a movie.
