Modern Day Earth.

Within a city amongst countless cities in this world, an old private beach existed, where a simple house stood, overlooking the seemingly endless sea. Atop the house's open-air rooftop, a figure could be seen sitting on a chair, allowing the refreshing breeze to course through him.

Staring at his phone, a bitter smile crept upon the young man's face as he sighed. "Eyy, another wuxia web novel with a protagonist that suffered the same fate as me..."

'Actually, mine was worse than his.' he thought.

As he said these words in his heart, he couldn't help but open a picture on his phone, showing a picture with two figures within, a handsome dignified man and an elegant beautiful woman.

"It's good to see you two again, mother, father." he said." Your faces are getting vaguer in my head as time passes... It's a good thing that there's this picture, otherwise, I would've long forgotten what you two looked like..." sorrow could be seen on his face as he whispered those words silently.

"Mother, father, please forgive this unfilial son of yours. I couldn't even get revenge for the two of you," he said as he choked up.

Remembering the time when he had overheard the shocking revelation of his mother and father from his own uncle, rage spawned within the young man's heart.

Three of his uncles, his blood family, plotted against and killed his father, their own youngest brother! They didn't even let their brother's wife off the hook and also disposed of her, poisoning her to death, making the Tian Long then who was still a child, an orphan.

When Tian Long had first heard this discovery, he couldn't believe it and denied it like a fool, after all, he was but a child then.

So what if he was a once-in-a-millennium genius? So what if he was a prodigy that was expected to have dominated his generation? All those 'praising words' from his supposed family were reduced to nothing but mocking jokes and insults when he had also been plotted against by the very same people that had caused his parent's death.

This all happened when he was only five years old! What use was the label of a genius when he became crippled, unable to cultivate?

From a supposed unparalleled prodigy to a person that even the slaves of his family looked down on, Tian Long couldn't help but laugh mockingly at his tragic twist of fate.

As for revenge, how could he seek revenge when he couldn't even take a single step out of this house that he was imprisoned in.

Due to these experiences, he had matured early and his mindset had broadened, although the desire for revenge still existed in his heart.

Now that he was 19 years old and was forcibly confined within this estate, prohibited from even receiving education, other than the daily essential necessities that his family's servants provided him, and other than training hard physically to keep his condition at the peak, reading wuxia web novels became his only solace.

Especially the ones set in modern time.

Even though all of those protagonists suffered tragic fates at the start, all of them still came across heaven-defying fortunes which allowed them to climb to the top of the world—completely opposite of himself.

"...Whatever, there's no use in complaining." Taking in a breath of fresh air, he sighed.

What could he do about it, the world has never been fair.

'I wanna take a walk.' he thought before exiting the rooftop and heading down the entrance.

Opening the door, what greeted his eyes were two stalwart men in black suits and sunglasses, standing straight like they were royal guards. Fierce aura radiated from the two, suggesting how dangerous they were.

"I wish to take a walk and clear my head." Tian Long indifferently said before walking past them.

The two 'guards' glanced at each other before one of them tapped on his headpiece and said some words as if asking permission.

A few seconds later, the said 'guard' nodded his head towards his subordinate as the two of them followed after the young man ahead of them.

**********

Towering skyscrapers were everywhere, their surface's sleek and shiny design reflecting the rays of sunlight. Countless people could be seen drifting along as a crowd, walking on the streets as numerous cars passed by them.

As Tian Long walked past customer-filled restaurants and bustling shops and malls, he couldn't help but get lost at the surreal feeling of normality. Walking down the sidewalk, numerous people couldn't help but do a double-take on him as they gawked upon his handsome face.

Being used to the attention since he was a child, Tian Long simply ignored them and kept on his casual pace, thinking of his past.

He, who was supposed to have climbed to the peak of this world, became average, an ordinary person.

But other than his desire for vengeance, he didn't hate the feeling, the simplicity, and the simple and quiet life it brought.

Standing amongst the few people by the still red stoplight, Tian Long looked at the people around him who were all too busy staring at their phones and shook his head with a smile.

But at that moment, from the other side of the street, a small figure grabbed his attention.

It was a little girl, walking forward mindlessly, chasing after the slowly floating balloon that she had lost.

However, the stoplight was still red and there were cars on both sides of the road that were on their way.

Looking at the people on the other side of the street, none of them seemed to have seen anything as their attention was fully focused on the screens of their phone.

Even the little girl's parents seemed to be the same!

Glancing at the people around him, Tian Long saw that they were also the same, busy with their phones.

Honk! Honk!

At that moment, the loud sound of a vehicle's horn resounded, drawing the little girl's attention. Immediately, terror struck her face as she shriveled up and trembled, seemingly frozen on the spot.

'Damn.' Tian Long complained in his head before rushing towards the girl who was in the middle of the pedestrian walk.

Seeing his actions, afar, the two men that 'guarded' Tian Long's house were surprised before following after him.

Awakened from their stupor, the numerous people on both sides of the street gasped in shock at the image of the little girl and the incoming truck that was only a few meters away.

"My baby!"

"Oh my god!"

"Someone! Please someone save her!"

Honk! Honk! Honk!

The truck driver continued ringing the horn while stomping on the brake, only to find it futile.

"What the f*ck." he cursed, clearly flustered as he repeatedly stepped on the brake. However, his actions were useless as an expression of dread appeared on his face.

Even turning the steering wheel to another direction would be useless at this moment! Even though there was still a second or two left before the impact, the driver could already imagine the little girl getting hit and run over by his reckless driving.

"Ahhh!" the little girl screamed as she closed her eyes reflexively

Just then, a figure suddenly appeared beside the girl, pushing her out of the way.

At that moment, it was as if time became slower as the little girl looked at the face of the young man who had pushed her out of harm's way.

At the same time, the world around Tian Long seemed to have slowed down as his eyes slowly shifted at the white truck that was rushing towards him.

At that moment of life and death, a smile crept up in his heart as he thought. 'Is this the mythical truck-kun? The killer and otherworld sender of countless MCs?'

'Truck-kun, if you don't reincarnate me to another world then I swear on my life that I will haunt you when I become a ghost.'

During this time that seemed to take an eternity and an instant at the same time, shame and regret filled Tian Long's eyes as he thought about his parent's demise and his failure to seek revenge.

"Forgive me."

BANG!

The truck which was going in high speed struck Tian Long mercilessly, sending him flying as his unconscious and bloodied body dropped on the ground, powerlessly.
