Chapter 17: Second heart

 

"Where am i?"

Waking up in complete darkness, i felt a huge headache.

"Are you awake?”

I heard a timid voice from my robe.

“Grey, what happened.”

“You’re sane again, after you fell over, you turned into a monster and started attacking anyone near you.”

“My bad.”

I stood up and tried to conjure a light ball unconsciously.

“Right, i can’t use mana?”

Looking inside my body, i saw that my usually harmonic music inside my body is different.

‘How did i mutate to having a second heart?’

The second heart is connected in a weird way and i noticed that the second heart is smaller and not beating correctly.

‘The philosopher stone is inside the second heart.’

“Alex, let’s find Red and get out of here.”

Getting out of my thoughts i said “right, let’s find them.”

Walking on stone debris, i walked forward randomly.

Even though i can’t really see properly and bumped into a couple of walls, i managed to find light.

“Red, Emily!”

Going towards the light i found a small dark blue flame.

“What is this?”

“That’s the thing that Emily used when her hair turned white from her normal black hair.”

“What’s it’s called, can you check it” i said, pulling Grey out of my robe.

“Hmm, it’s called cursed flame, it’s a flame that has been cursed and became a flame that instead of emitting heat, it absorbs heat.”

“Really?”

Hearing what Grey said, i got an idea.

“Stay here for a moment.”

“Don’t go near that flame, it’s dangerous, i saw that flame freeze everything it touches.”

“Don’t worry; it’s just a small flame.”

“Don’t, you can just ask for some from Emily.”

Giving up my attempts at eating the flame, i sat at the nearest rock.

“Okay, but, what are we going to do in this place.”

“Be patient, it’s not like this place is big, after all this place is just the basement of a store.”

“I guess you’re right but, there’s more than one floor below the store you know.”

“But, that doesn’t mean there are one hundred floors below the store.”

“Below?”

Realizing about where we are, i looked above me.

“We need to go up.”

“How can we do that?”

“Do you know telekinesis?”

“I can but, i can only lift a few small rocks.”

“Maybe i can help.”

‘I hope the energy from the philosopher stone can help him.’

I picked up the stone at my feet and stuffed it into my mouth.”

“What, why are you eating that?!”

“It’s my ability.”

After eating until there was a small pit in the floor, i didn’t get enough energy to form a drop of Omnia.

‘But, this should be enough to get us out of here.’

“I want to eat steak after eating stone like this.”

“Come on, use Telekinesis to get us out of here, I’ll give you my energy.”

“I’ll try my best.”

Slowly but surely, i was lifted from the ground and into the air.

“That’s it, you’re doing great Grey.”

“It’s hard to focus if you’re embarrassing me like that.”

“You’re cute Grey; I’ll be counting on you if I’m as useless as this again.”

“Haha, it’s no big deal.”

As he said that i felt my stomach contents started to move upwards, even though it’s empty because it’s converted into energy by the philosopher stone.

“Focus Grey, i don’t want to throw up all over you.”

“Huh, yes, hah, no, but, what am i thinking.”

I shouldn’t have said that as Grey panicked or something and made us go up and down repeatedly.

‘Ugh i think I’m sick.’

“Sorry Alex, i panicked.”

“It’s okay.”

“Finally, sunlight.”

“Aren’t you a vampire though?”

“Oh yeah, i haven’t checked my body thoroughly.”

I checked my body but it felt the same always, and the sun still makes my skin itchy.

‘Maybe it failed.’

Thinking maybe the information on the human body i got is incomplete like, maybe the bone owner is male or maybe the bone owner is a mutant human that has two hearts instead of one.

‘Wait, there’s a something new in my mind.’

Inside my mind i felt something like an information pattern that i made based on the information that i got from the human bone, Red’s data, and my own but, it’s different.

‘It’s like a complete program instead of my jumbled data that i forced my body to implement.’

In my curiosity, i ran the program and felt the change in my body.’

‘It’s warm.’

“Umm Alex, i need more energy, i can’t keep this for long.”

“Ahh, yes.”

I tried to give my energy to Grey but unfortunately, my felt empty.

“Oh no.”

“I can’t hold on any longer!”

“Hold on Grey, we’ll die if you don’t hold on!”

Giving what’s left of my energy to Grey, i fainted.

But, before i fainted, i heard sounds of wings flapping.

“Ugh.”

“You’re awake,” a man’s voice said.

Opening my eyes, i was greeted with the scene of roof tops.

“I’m still falling huh.”

“No, you’re in the claws of Passion.”

Waking up completely i saw that i was in the claws of a big red bird.

 “Did you save me from falling? Thank you.”

Trying to see the one that save me, i saw that my hair is black now.

‘Did i turn back into a human?’

“No problem.”

I felt the wind on my face as the bird flew to the ground.

Once we reached the ground, the bird opened its claws and let me go. “Aww, that was not nice.”

“This pet of yours is dangerous, so make sure to keep it on a leash,” he said, throwing Grey at me.

I caught the unconscious Grey.

“Who are you?”

Now on the ground, i can see the one who saved me, short black hair, with a lazy look on his face.

“Goodbye.”

“Wait, have you seen two people around here, one has short orange hair and the other one is shorter and have long black hair.”

“Oh it’s you, here,” he said, taking out a scroll and threw it at me.

“Thank you mister courier.”

“My name is Jin” he said, flying away on his big red bird.

“At least he told me his name.”

Looking around me, i felt a headache.

“Where am i?”

‘I really hope this thing can help.’

Looking at the scroll in my hand, i opened it...or at least tried to open it.

“How do i open this thing?”

After trying several times, i simply gave up.

‘Dammit.’

To make it worst, my stomach started growling.

‘Can i eat stone to satisfy you lord stomach.’

With nothing else to do i took a step forward and wander around until i started seeing people.

‘Why is this place deserted anyway?’
