"This is where you will be learning from now one. Welcome to Mithril Academy. Let's go and get you registered."
"Oooh! how rundown."

It really looks rundown. The walls have burnt marks here and there. The is smoke rising from the workshop looking rooms at the side of the school. It looks like a normal five story school but it's made of stone. Some stones look partially smash while others looks newly replaced. The color scheme is out of place because of it. Did they repair it frequently? Does that mean they teach enchantment in this school too!? So this means that explosions are frequent here. I need to avoid those classes and those classrooms.

Even if it is rundown it still looks the part of a school. A small stone fence surrounding the building and big huge metal gates at the front. The building also has that huge wooden doors giving the 'come and learn' feeling. Each floor has rows and rows of windows but none of them uses glass. It's one of those door like windows that have horizontal wooden slats design that only partially block the light on sunny days but still be able to let air flow inside. Is it because glass is more expensive for a school that explodes every so often? Must be. It looks like the right part of the school is the workshop. Wait there are also workshops at the left side of the school. From the front the school looks like three rectangles grouped together. The workshops are the flat rectangle at the sides and the main school building is the one standing upright in the middle. Very classic school shape. I wonder what I will learn here.

"Hahaha, Don't worry it only looks rundown. Most parts of the school are brand new. You will learn it as you stay here since students are the one's repairing every time it gets broken."
"I see, I would have to learn how to repair buildings."
"Right, right, You will be expert repairmen by the time you graduate."
"I wanted to be a blacksmith though."
"All students learn it as an extra. Think of it as a free extra course you can learn. I think the past heroes called it a 'minor'?"
"Heroes?"
"Ah, you even forgot about the past dwarven heroes? You can learn it in history so don't worry. Let's go the registrations office is at the fifth floor."

Fifth floor, how exhausting. For something new students go to why couldn't they put it on the first floor. Well, it does show off the school when someone new visits but since they don't have elevators here, expecting someone to climb all the way to the top floor is going burn them out. This looks like the highest climb in the town except the mountain mine. Wait, could it be because of that. It would build up stamina for the eventual climb miner students have to go through? Speaking of stamina because of my new skill [Glorious Stamina] I don't have to worry about it though. Never mind then.

"Haah, haaah, You alright newcomer? The registration office is just to the side."
"I'm still alright."
"Look haaah like you have haaah a huge haaah tank. haaah, let me haah just catch my haaah haaah"

You gave up speaking eh. It wasn't that bad of a climb until the third floor when he sneezed and dropped his coin pouch. We had to go back down to pick it up because of that. Looks like the school isn't completely cleaned from some previous explosion so its very dusty.

The school is actually big inside. Every floor has the same layout too. Maybe a countermeasure to make it easier to remember. Each floor has about six classrooms, two workshops, two washrooms and two sets of staircases. The staircases are at the two front corners of the school going all the way up. The six classrooms are in a 2 by 3 format with hallways all around them. The windows provide a lot of light but ony in between the the classrooms are there no windows. The two workshops are at the back of the floor sticking to the wall and two washrooms in between them. The bathroom walls are extra thick. Is it because they don't want the toilets exploding and making a messier 'mess'? I want to find comfort that nothing explodes when I am using the toilets at least. Ah the first floor is different, the sides are connected to the workshop so there is no light. It looks like they have lanterns in place of natural light at the side hallways.

"Ah, I'm getting old. I can move fine in combat training but climbing still tires me out. My retirement is getting near so I don't have to worry about this soon."
"Ah, ok."
"You're young so start exercising early and build up your stamina. You're going to need it for almost everything you do."
"Ok."
"Let's go, the registration office is that way."

Trying to hide your weakness, eh. Now to the office, The layout is a bit different here at the fifth floor. There are eight rooms here and like the previous floor every one is an island with hallways surrounding them. Different from the rooms in the previous floors the rooms here have windows all around. You can see what someone is doing from one end of the corner to the other end of the hallway. The grilles in the windows is thinner and less so its easier to see too. It's noisy though since the window doesn't block noise. Is it because this is the office floor? For security reasons they need to have visibility to every room?

"Alright, my duty ends here. The school staff would take over for guiding you from here. Good luck, newcomer."
"Ah, thank you mister guard."
"Bye"

There he went. It should be easier since he is going down. He helped me enter this town as a resident, he guided me through all the necessities that I need to know. He is also kind to me as a newcomer. I hope I never see him again. No matter how much good help someone brings to you, a single embarrassing moment kills all of that. Goodbye mister guard, May our paths never cross again. I will do my very best to remove your existence from my memories.

*Knock* *Knock*

"Excuse me!"
"Come in."

I say that but I can see a group of desk for registration inside. I knocked out of courtesy but since there are different desk for registration I don't know which one I should go to. I should go for the nearest one.

"Ah, I'm here to register as a student."
"Have you registered as a resident yet?"
"Ah, yes just now. I have the form they gave me here."
"Let me just look at it for a moment."

I went to the nearest desk from the door and it seems it's ok. There isn't much on top of the desk beside some pen holders. The clerk who is taking care of my registration is a female dwarf, maybe. Shes looks like a normal dwarf with a bit more feminine figure but it's still the same blocky characteristics that dwarfs have. I don't know how to feel about this. I still have my sense of beauty as a human so I can't really judge it from a dwarf standpoint. Maybe my sense of values would adjust here in school. They are teaching us about stuff here, I am bound to learn the common sense and quirks of the dwarven continent from school. However, for now as a former human I can't say if she is attractive or not. I don't plan to have a romantic relationship, heck I don't even want any kind of relationship as long as I live so I guess I can put this worry to sleep.

"Alright, everything seems to be in order. You lost your memories so you want to go through education again, right? This means you would also be living in the dormitory. We have a list of agreements that you need to sign here but the big parts include needing to repair and maintain the dormitory and school. In case emergency we also have the right to commission work from you. As a student you also have the responsibility to repair the school in case of accidents. Don't worry since classes take turns being responsible for fixing the school every week. For further specific details please read the agreement. Do you want to read it first before you sign? Please don't worry as this is the standard agreement for all the students enrolled here."
"No, it's alright. I'll sign it right away."

It's not like I have to follow whatever is written there. I can just escape if things get problematic for me. I did have a quick look-over but the term only last until graduation. The only pitfall I can see so far is that I am bound to the agreement as long as I am part of the school. If I quit or graduate then it won't apply to me anymore.

"Alright, now then for your classes which one's do you want to focus in?"
"What are the different classes available? Is there a requirement that I have to take?"
"Starting in classes that you need to take there are History, traditions, and holy magic. As for the classes available that you can take there are enchanting, Mining, Smithing, Alchemy, Rune magic, Sculpting, Machine construction, Masonry, Combat Healer, and Soldier classes."

That's a lot of classes, There are a lot of interesting things too. Rune magic seems really interesting but I need to stick to what I planned before.

"I want to go into Smithing, please."
"Do you want to minor in mining since its a complimentary job for it?"
"Ah, sure."

I don't really know how anything here works so I'll just say yes to anything they say.

"Here is your student I.D. Welcome to Mithril Town Academy. The dormitories are at the back of the academy. There are signs above the front door to differentiate the male and female dorms. Classes start a week from now so feel free to read up in the library if you don't have anything to do. The library is located between the dormitories."
"Ah, Thank you."

Student ID
Brill Smith
Year: 1 Class: Smithing
Male Dorm room 307
ID: BSCS307Y501

BS must be my name. I'll let that insult pass since I did choose to combine my name and the new surname. CS from Class: Smithing and 307 from my dorm room. Y501 is the year? Looks like a lot of time passed since I have died in the human continent. I'm still not sure since the dwarven continent may have a different year system. The human continent used the 'hero' year that started when the first hero got popular. When the continent got divided to be precise.

When the continent got divided and when the different continents of the races calmed down. It officially became the start of the hero year. There was some kind of war that was about to destroy the different races but it was prevented because of it. The hero was a human so the human continent restarted the year in honour of her but I'm not sure if races beside humans would use the same year. Anyway, let's forget that since it doesn't really impact my life that much so let me just go inspect where I will live from now on.
