The soldiers above the fortress' wall kept unleashing their magics to the horde, but it didn't even harmed them although they got blasted off.

William nodded their head, when suddenly the soldiers above stopped their attacks.

Hmm? Why do they stopped?

The soldiers turned their head and stared at William's direction.

William didn't realized that they're staring, but then he heard a roar. A human roar which came from the top of the fortress.

It got his attention and William was observing the soldiers.

Oh, they're retreating. Thank god they realized sooner that they can't defeat these things. I guess they do have a place to refuge. Maybe they're using teleport circle?

Even though William didn't know whether the soldiers have a safe place for refuge or a teleport circle, his game brain which had experienced many RPG/MMORPG knew about the cliché where something the boss had, the players might be able to get them too even if it's the degraded version of what the boss had.

William watched for a bit until the soldiers were all disappeared from the top of the fortress' wall. The horde was banging on the gate and begun to strike the fortress' wall all-together.

But for now William couldn't careless about the horde. He jumped on top of the 20m tall fortress' wall to oversee the inside of the fortress.

Soldiers were retreating hurriedly towards the center of the fortress.

William noticed that the center was actually some kind of city Square which glows with magical sigils lighting up the surrounding.

When the square was full of soldiers, the sigils grew brighter until the shape of the sigils couldn't be seen anymore.

The sigils lighted up for 15 seconds, before the light went dim and finally ceased to glow.

If the soldiers are all gone already, I guess this place must have been fully evacuated. Time to trigger happy!!

William stood atop the fortress, his gazed full of excitements just like when he was playing a zombie apocalypse game where he uses infinite ammo cheat.

"TIME TO DIE! Yeeeahhhaaaaw!!!!"

In high tension William aimed his Microgun at the horde and shot.

He moved the Microgun left and right as if he was an insane guy with a overpowered weapon trying to kill a cockroach.

"AaahhHahHahHahHhaAHaHha!!! DIE DIE DIEEEEEEEEEE!!! YOU OVERSIZED ROACHES!"

Although from the way he was behaving someone might say that he was just shooting randomly, his aim was godly. Even though the horde that kept striking the fortress wall was reminded of group of cockroaches huddled up together on the wall when there's massive flood, but there were always gaps here and there that made someone realized where the ground was. Yet, each bullets hit their target perfectly. There were no misses. Every hit striked the monster head-on, obliterating only their upper torso or their head completely.

If someone saw this sight, without knowing what he was killing, 10 out of 10 people would ran away in fear. His profanity, his expression, the tone of his voice, his whole being were the definition of psychopath with a gun in his killing spree.

It's been 30 minutes since William was shooting at them, and the part of the wall that he could see from above were cleared from the horde.

Man, I'm a little bit bored doing that. It's like killing zombies with extremely bad A.I. They don't even care my killing them! Did they even notice me at all?

William jumped off the wall and ran along the ground surrounding the fortress.

After travelling 300 meters, the queueing horde of monsters who didn't have the chance to striked the wall before filled the empty spots where their kin laid on the ground as corpses.

William got even closer until he was only 2 meters away...1 meter...and he's riding on one of the monsters' shoulder.

Are these things actually just scary looking dolls!?

He droopped down his head in disappointment and sighed.

William then mischievously drummed on the head of the monster he was riding.

Then he went on even further by singing loudly.

He even let out his fart to the roaring monster on the back of the monster he was riding.

Man...this is getting old. Let's just kill all of them all quickly.

"Huh...?"

The horde was being still and silent.

Before William could even realized, the monster he was riding grabbed his left leg so hard and slammed him down to the ground.

"Gugh!"

William felt that all the air within his lung was being taken out.

Before he even regained his bearing, the monster who just slammed him to the ground stomped on his chest. The horde roared, as if they just found a prey.

"Gohaggh!!!"

This time it was his stomach which got stomped, and William let out gastric juice from his mouth.

The monsters nearby who surrounded him began to get closer before they kneeled and held every parts of his body...and chomped on them hard like crocodiles feasting on unlucky prey.

"GGyyaaaaakkkhh!!"

His screamed invited another monster to gnawed at him.

His head got bitten by the monster's just like a dog biting on bone.

It hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts! Why does it hurts even though I wore the Dark Robe!?

William felt pain akin to the pain when he was having IV needle pierced his body, a lot of needles which pierces the wrong spot. Even so, he wasn't even bleeding.

The Dark Robe gave high defense against physical and magical attack, but even so it would only made him hard to make bleed. High defense didn't mean it would make his defense so high he wouldn't feel a stimuli to his body. It just means that he would only able to resist an impact from a moving train  just like he resisted the impact of a kid's tricycle hitting his leg.

William struggled so hard, but he couldn't even move to no avail because all of his limbs were either being held down or currently being chewed on.

Then he felt that the pain he was feeling intensified.

Oh my god ... Does the equipments or anything I got from Last Imagine also follow the Last Imagine's rules!?

The suddenly realization made William panicked and struggled even more until his left shoulder dislocated.

"Ngggghhgg!"

He couldn't even scream because one of the monsters was putting its big finger inside William's mouth, trying to rip his jaw.

One of the rules of Last Imagine 20 was, no matter how high the defense is, whether it's the bosses' or the players' defense, if it kept being attack again and again on the same spot, it would be pierced and damage would connect properly.

There was even a gameplay video where a veteran used his Lv 1 alternate character to vanquished a Lv 45 Adamantoise which was a monster with the highest defense under Lv 60, although had the lowest agility equalling Goblin. It took the veteran 8 hours to subjugate even though he kept attacking, although just being hit once by any kind of the Adamantoise's attack would killed the veteran's lv.1 character, he managed not to get hit and successfully defeated it after 8 hours even though a party of 6 with similar level as the Adamantoise could do it in 5 minutes.

The pain William felt keeps growing, but he had learned it the hard way that struggling even more would injured himself again.

Calm down! Think!! Think!!!

Naturally, it's hard for him to calm down. His whole body's hurting from being chewed on, but he did calm down a tiny bit and that's enough for him to think of something.

My right wrist and finger can move! They didn't hold it down or chewing on them fingers yet!

Immediately, William used a swordsman's technique that he often used in Last Imagine 20. The Sharp Aura.

This technique was a technique which makes the user's mana to envelopes the  the fingers and once it envelopes the fingers it would  elongated to make a sharp sword made of mana. The pros for this technique are its capabilities to be turned as a sword, a spear, or even a long sword-whip, and in its whip-form it could be controlled  at will, its sharpness was based on how high the skill's proficiency was, thankfully William's techniques were maxed. For the con, it used up mana so fast, It could only be used for 10 seconds even with the maxed proficiency before the user ran out of mana.

But then, before William could use the technique,

"Ggaaaaaarrrggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!"

The defense on his right leg had been breached. The flesh oh his right leg got tore off and then swallowed by the perpetrator.

Looking at this, several monsters who gnawed at his right arm moved towards his right leg and shoved off the monster who just took a bite...and tore off William's right leg.

William screamed like he never before.

But the pain made his mind worked faster, as if his instinct was telling him if he didn't do anything now, he'd be dead.

With his right arm freed, again, when he was about to use his technique, a monster on his left succeeded in tearing his ear off.

Fortunately, William still managed to use the Sharp Aura.

And he sliced off the monsters around him with his freed right arm. The monsters in the radius of 20m were all dead from being sliced.

Need...to get up and kill all of them!!!

William's instinct was telling him that with just one leg, void of magic, and his mind that wasn't working properly anymore due to the lost of blood from his right leg, he wouldn't be able to run.

Struggling, William finally stood with one leg while his technique was still active.

His half conscious mind, his desperation to live, his will to kill all of them, activated a forgotten Innate Skill from Last Imagine 20.

Every players had this Innate Skill. A skill that boosted every magics and techniques a player has for a thousand times.

Its chance of activation was so rare there's no official data how much was the chance. But, every players agreed, that this Innate Skill was activated at random with the chance of activation much worse than trying to get Dark Robe which William was wearing, and agreed to consider this Innate Skill activation as a miracle.

The name of this Innate Skill was Over Limit.

William slashed at the incoming monsters horizontally with his right arm from the left to the right.

Before it reached mid-swing, the mana sword instantly became 100km long mana sword.

But William didn't noticed and just finished his swing. He slashed so hard the inertia from the motion of his swing made his body spin and it turned into a spinning attack.

All the horde, which looked like black tar from above were sliced off on their torso without exception because they were all standing.

His spin stopped, William fell down and lost consciousness for the second time since he came into this world.

========================================================================

"......................"

".........................................u.....ugh...."

Two people were in a 6x8m room full of books. One of them was William Growfield, while the other was a man of darkish skin with horns protruding from his knees, elbows, and forehead.

"akw aery uoa?"

"....uuuh...?"

In his dim consciousness, William heard a man's calm voice.

"ond, otea goyeou etd. Ybuf oenc ueo fou ven orrd syas siconui"

The man brought over a plateful of food from a desk nearby and offered it to William.

SYNCHRONIZATION COMPLETE

Language Capabilities synchronized

"..................."

Because of the synchronization just now, William understood what was said to him just now.

Are you awake....good, you need to eat. You've been unconscious for four days....that's what he said huh.

"Than...cough...thank...you"

William's throat felt parse but he still received the plateful of food.

"Ah, sorry. I think you would need a drink first than foods. Wait a moment"

The man got up from his seat beside the bed William was laying down, and headed to a cupboard and took out a little stone mug.

He gave it to William then he flicked his finger and all of sudden the mug gradually being filled with water.

Once full, William drank it slowly. The mug felt heavier than any mug he ever used, but it felt nice on lips. Even though it was made out of stone, the mug was so smooth like it was the stone used as the floor of a magnificen palace.

"glug...glug...glug...ahhh....haaa...thank you"

"You are welcome"

William returned the mug to the man.

"It's okay, you're safe for now"

The man's voice turned William's attention which was trying to take in his surroundings back to the man.

"I am Inaugurath, of the demon race. But before you misunderstood, we're not the demon you humans knew in your holy books"

"Of course. Demons in religions look like us instead"

Replied William succinctly while he was reminiscent of people in his previous life who behaved like a demon, such as bad politicians and the like.

"Is that so?....may I happen to be given the honor to know your name?"

"It's Growfield, William Growfield"

The man nodded.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Sir Growfield"

"Hmm. Just William or Will is fine"

"Of course, William"

The man offered to shake hand which William received politely.

"Where is this?"

William asked what he has been wondering about since he woke up.

"Ah, this is one of the room in my humble abode within the hideout of our demon race atop the lofty Himaseru"

"Himaseru?"

"Yes, the mountain you've been on when you killed them on top of the hill overseeing their horde, and also the mountain range you've seen after you passed through the portal"

The man showed an archaic smile.

"You were watching me?"

William narrowed his eyes and lowered the tone of his voice.

"But of course! It's such a peculiarity to see a human on top of Himaseru where no beings outside those who was born here could live! To even killed them easily at that! A feat, that even the strongest amongst us Demons failed to do long time ago and still persist even now!"

William felt overwhelmed by the man's tension in front of him.

" ...but they got killed easily, albeit their numerous amount made it a chore"

"Hoh! But such is the peculiarity! We couldn't kill them THAT easily, and you have also seen it yourself that the humans magic bombardments couldn't do any harm to them whatsoever, and only managed to sent them flying"

".................."

William went silent, but in his head, he begun recollecting his memory of what happened.

The man, Inaugurath, noticed what William was dwelling on.

"Do you see it now? Long ago, they were only 100,000, and they culled our number which was their equal, until we had less than 2000 and only we knew their existence. We were in hiding for so long, scheming to kill them, but even one of them was impossible to kill for us. Thus, we devoted ourselves in defensive, camouflage, and escape capability instead. And only on the day I saw you did they moved away from the mountain. The portal was the mistery. No one in this world should be able to transferred over living being that many."

The long exposition confused William's mind who had not completely awake yet. But he managed to give a reply.

"But the people within that fortress was..."

"Aha, but what they did is different than the portal you and I have seen"

William tilted his head.

"How so?"

"Let's talk about what the human did first. You reckon that they were using some short of sigils, haven't you?"

William nodded.

"Those were part of the magic circle. Its effect is to transferred the target which was set with the magical formula, to the other magic circle which was set as the destination. It's a magic which uses the atmospheric mana to activate and it could only be used if the mana in the atmosphere was sufficient to fuel the formula. It's the grand version of our, demon race, swap spell which was meant for individual. Do you follow?"

"Yes, please carry on."

William nodded and urged Inaugurath to continue.

"Meanwhile, the portal that they, those demons were using, was a tunnel. A tunnel that living beings need to goes through, unlike the humans magic circle, and our swap spell which was akin to a jump and swap, the portal made a tunnel that pierce through dimension"

I see...I don't understand what he said, but it's probably like that wormhole theory in sci-fi movie.

Thought William.

"And the portal's fuel would diminished when it let through a single living being. Theoretically, such portal could only be used by four people at best"

"....unless, they're not living being"

Responded William right after Inaugurath ended his sentence.

"................................."

Inaugurath went silence, his expression showed that he was thinking deep about something.

"Yes. I see. If they're not living being, I guess it was possible to do so"

"But they bleed, and I'm sure I saw internal organs when they got obliterated"

"Indeed, it was. But five minutes after they died, they perished"

"...huh?"

William widened his eyes in surprised and confusion.

"Yes, they did not leave any remains. Not a even a drop of blood. Even with my preservation spell, the remains did not last for 24 hours and it was gone like shadow being casted by light. The day you collapsed, was the day the first time I got myself their corpse to observed. From the autopsy, I found that they are indeed living being. Their remains were like normal flesh, easily cut up"

"If they're gone like shadow...were they by any chance vam-...undead?"

"No, undead does not have flowing blood. But they had"

"Hmm..."

What are they really? Their behaviour was also weird, they ignored me for long, but then all of sudden, they're behaving like they found a prey again after that slight pause....

Feeling itchy on his left ear while William was thinking, he gave it a scratched.

Only to notice that his left earlobe was gone.

"Ah, I am sorry. Us Demon Race do have healing spell to close the wound or reconnect limbs, but we couldn't do something like regrowing missing body parts. The parts you are missing, I couldn't recovered it because they were badly damaged"

William uncovered his lower torso which got covered by a blanket.

As expected, he lost his right leg.

Will I be crippled for life?...no, no...calm down. I have Full-cure magic that could restore condition to normal, so I guess I would return to nor-...........crap I forgot my magic got sealed....

William facepalmed. He felt frustration at his own folly.

"Are you okay, Will?"

This is reality. I shouldn't have been behaving like I was gaming.

"William?"

Woke up from his regret, William heaved out a big sigh.

"I'm alright. Thanks for closing up the wound"

"No problem. I will be leaving you for now to eat and rest. I happen to have something else to do. Rest well"

William nodded and Inaugurath walked out of the room.

Being left alone, William began to eat the food he was given. It's vegetable porridge that looked like a baby's instant porridge. But William ate it anyway, because he felt famished.

While he was eating, William was also thinking how he could restore his missing leg and earlobe.

It'd be nice if the items I had also being carried over, but I should just be thankful that I already being given most of what I need to survive.

But still, how to restore myself? Hm...probably need to recheck my Trophies first.

But no...the Great Pretender...I didn't even act in this world so that Trophy isn't from this world, so it's from my previous world? But I never heard such thing....

All the porridge have gone from the plate to William's stomach now. Putting the plate on a desk nearby, William was back to what he was thinking.

Wait wait wait...Great Pretender...Acts...don't tell me it's because the routine role playing event with my Last Imagine 20 guild mates where I was dubbed as the most convincing role player whether the role was villain, good guy, child, adult, male or female!?

When William remembered, he agonized over the embarrassment.

Uwaaah now that I think again, it's embarrassing, but why was it when I did it in the game I don't feel embarrassed at all, but instead I was having a blast?

"sigh...no crying over spilt milk"

Well, because of that I got a Trophy, so let's be thankful. Shapeshifting huh. Let's try it. Let's think about shapeshifting into me with my whole body intacts.

Then, he imagined to shapeshift as his healthy and whole self.

EXISTENCE SHAPESHIFT, FAILED. EXISTENCE HAS EXISTS.

"Ha?"

Do I need to shapeshift to someone who doesn't exist in reality?

"Let's just shapeshift to my Last Imagine 20's character"

William was concentrating with a closed eyes on the memory of his main character in Last Imagine 20 which was basically the buffed up version of his who was already buff in reality.

Alas, in the middle of his concentration,

Great Pretender huh. Now that I think about it, I have an alternative accounts for the sake of the role-playing event, haven't I?

William was thinking about the female character he had used before to role-play.

EXISTENTIAL SHAPESHIFT, SUCCESS.

"Phew..."

A sweet sigh was let out.

William touched his left ear, and the earlobe was there. He looked at his right leg.....

A white, soft-looking right thigh was there.

Then a strand of hair fell on his side which he brushed aside.

He looked at the hand that he used to brushed the hair. An immaculate hand of a lady the same colour with the thigh he just seen.

When he looked at his hand near his chest. He also realized the modest protrusions.

He groped it.

"Ngh..."

A slight pained sweet girly moan was out of his mouth. The size would be as described with ergonomic with the palms.

"..............what?"

His mind went blank, his palm hadn't part with his new bulging hills, William sat still like a statue.
