Nick was correct too as Voldemort was indeed planning a big move from his current place of residence , the Riddle manor. His new servant was less than optimal in terms of power and influence but one of those could be easily fixed with his guidance. In fact that was what he had been doing this entire time , conducting various dark rituals to enhance the average talent of the servant to an acceptable level. Foul things that granted great power at terrible cost that had reduced the servant to something not human much like himself.-
"Go now and bring me everyone related to the boy's past , I refuse to believe that he merely appeared out of nowhere." the cold voice of the dark lord spoke from a lounge chair. The cloaked servant bowed and left while the dark lord stroked his pet Nagini with a stern expression. Voldemort had secretly investigated Nick in depth without doing anything to draw attention to himself but was concerned to learn that no one seemed to have any clue at all where the boy came from. The earliest piece of information that could be found was the boy walking out of an alley covered in serious injuries with amnesia.-
Upon investigating the alley in question all Voldemort discovered was that there was a almost completely faded trace of magic that sadly collapsed when he tried to capture it. Unknown to him however his failure and investigation were noticed by a certain group that had been watching all traces of Nick's background for a certain reason. "Should we tell the elder of this development?" a man hidden in a shadow asked a small glowing orb seriously. To normal ears a hissing sound came from the orb in response.-
In truth it was a female voice speaking in parseltongue "No we shall continue to observe the boys activities and past locations for now. Should that person continue poking where they have no right we will inform the elder before making our next move." the voice spoke from the orb before the orb stopped glowing. "I wonder what fortuitous event it was that you met here that has changed you so much , little nephew?" the man muttered before doing as he had been told and watching the traces Nick had left behind. Fate shifted in the background as many thing unfolded in the shadows of the world with but a single focal point.-
Meanwhile Nick woke up on the first of December slightly uncomfortable as the cold had rapidly overtaken the school in the past week. Nazgul had grown larger over the past month and was now the size of a large dog breed such as a Tibetan mastiff. As a result she had gone from adorable to slightly intimidating as her muscles developed and grew along side her. Unfortunately for Nick this meant that he simply didn't have enough room on his current bed to accommodate her. Needless to say she was not happy about it at all.-
Nick also couldn't take her with him into classes anymore as she simply couldn't fit comfortably due to all the desks that were close together. Instead she was allowed to wonder the castle freely which had developed in an odd manner as she was best friends with a young unicorn from the forest now. It came as quite the shock to Nick to say the least when he sought her out only to see her running around with the creature near Hagrid's hut. In an interesting development today was actually the first day that the new DADA teacher was introduced.-
Getting dressed Nick left the dorm room casually and sighed in relief when he got into the common room as the roaring fireplace was spreading plenty of warmth. He let Nazgul out of the realm where she sleeps now and settled down on the chair nearest the fire as he pulled out the fourth year textbook of spells to study them. He had already fully read the book before but was making sure that he didn't miss anything important when he skimmed through it. He found one or two small things that were a missing from his understanding but otherwise he found that he was well set.-
That merely took him about thirty minutes since he was skimming through the book again and so moved on to the topic of one of his commissions , flight. Contrary to how it may seem there were in fact several different ways to fly as a wizard besides on a broom. The problem came in the form of how obscure the magic involved was to the point that Nick had only found two tomes on it in the entire library , "ancient section" and all.
Hey, does Nick really have a hidden family? Didn't he possess the corpse of a random child?
Regardless, it's very likely that his "family" isn't good news since they beat him up and forgot about him for 2 years!
Thanks for the chapters!
from the sound of it. They didn't beat him up. The wording makes it sound like he got beat up and they found about it much later. That isn't to say they are good.
My thoughts on the information in this chapter:
1) My theory that the servant who is helping Voldermor is actually an Acolyte of Grindelwald was ruined with this chapter, no Acolyte was weak, which increases suspicions about Lockhart.
2) The fact that the woman in the orb speaks Parseltongue and Nick's "uncle" understands without speaking the same language could mean two things, either Nick's family is foreign (wizards from India) or everyone has the gift by default. speaking all languages like Nick, the fact that Gringotts does not detect this lineage further reinforces the suspicion of foreigners.
3) Despite Nazgul's dangerous powers, the creature itself is good and pure of heart as it was playing with a baby unicorn and these creatures have the natural talent to perceive the hearts of other creatures and abhor evil.
@minimi22 I recognize your argument, but the question remains if I have magical powers, and my magical resources are greater than the average wizard (orbs for communication are far superior to owls and two-way mirrors are the best means of communication known in the magical world) remains question, why didn't they look for him sooner?
And even if his family didn't beat him, that family is probably having trouble protecting even their children, meaning more trouble for Nick whether his family is good or not.
@Marco_Tulio I am just begging this isn't some xianxian style bs. You know like him being the son of someone not important so no one cared until they discovered his father being someone important so now they care. But now they just want to watch and see what he does for some reason.
@Marco_Tulio could be the good ol'reliable rite of passage bullsh*t of being thrown in the world to fend for himself to prove himself worthy of the family or something like that.
@Marco_Tulio For your second point, Helena told Nick that the ability to read and speak all languages came from a middle eastern wizard family, so this is likely.
@minimi22 I believe it may or may not have been brought up that some magical families are relatively secluded and don't bother themselves with worldly affairs so they may not have realized what happened until recently. It's also possible that part of a family tradition involves being sent out to accumulate experiences or see the world for a while, Nick had an accident that led to him being in the alley, and ultimately set the story in motion.
@DemonLordShadowheart it is also possible that the body that he took over didn't have magic and so his family kicked him out
@minimi22 and @ISwearImTrying and @DemonLordShadowheart
I could be wrong, but I believe that Nick's family situation is more of a xianxian drama than just a rite of passage accident or a transportation accident, because of a few suspicious points:
1) If everything was an accident where is Nick's father? Why is his uncle investigating him? Did Nick's father and mother die, if so, what happened, and what was the treatment of an orphan in Nick's family?
2) If Nick was a child who was loved in the family why are they investigating where he has been instead of contacting Nick? It's not like he was in a completely secret and inaccessible location, at the very least they could contact the director!
3) If Nick's family, for whatever reason, must remain hidden, to justify my question in item 2, this would not mean that they have problems, and apparently these problems are very serious, which confirms what I said regardless of whether the family is good or not it will get Nick in trouble.
4) Nick's uncle didn't wonder what happened to him, but rather what lucky event Nick went through to change so much! In other words, in my opinion, Nick was probably shy and weak before and this uncle is more concerned about Nick's secrets than Nick himself in my opinion.
@Bronzefall this could be another possibility, I read it somewhere and I don't know if it's canonical or not, but some families, upon learning that a child is a miscarriage, perform a magical ritual to remove the child's family lineage (usually this causes serious damage to the child's body and health) if this is canon the original Nick may have died because of this and the system may have restored the boy's body to the MC's possession since Nick's magical powers only appeared after he purified the child's body circuits. manna.
That's an interesting theory.
@Bronzefall yhea that was my take away from it as well so now that they hear he appeared whit magic and talented at it to boot and a unique crafting style as well it got their full attention
They are probably going to cause nick some trouble cause voldemort only has 1 horcuxe left and nick has hundreds of a weapon that can kill him regardless so i don't think he will be around for long and i belief it to early for grindelwalds apocalypse so there has to be an antagonist / problem to solve or it will be years worth of just training or a time skip
Corpse had to come from somewhere afterall, maybe they didn’t realize he died
@Marco_Tulio Some further possibilities to guess at
1. Followers of Grindlewald set to watch out for interested parties
2. Followers of Hades, ditto
3. Followers of Zeus, ditto
4. Followers of other branches on the family tree
5. Gringotts associates - he did after all impress some of them
6. Associates of Sirius - Nick was the one who got him released
7. Associates of Nicolas Flamel - he was quite interested in Nick
8. Some society interested in Nick's crafting methods
That's the first few that came to mind. I could propably come up with a few more
