Thanks for the follow, @GrandX and @Xtticus0!

"I promise,

I will keep my promise."

-Nikhil Yadav

"It's a pleasure-... Wait, then you are..?"

Deku looked dead into the eyes of All Might's successor, suddenly tired.

"Yes, I'm that very person that the news is raving on and on about," He sighed. "But I'm nothing that special. I'm sure they'll make a big deal of it for a while longer before everyone forgets about it and moves on to the next 'cool' thing. Regardless, it is, indeed, a pleasure."

'-not.'

All Might was ever-happy from the sidelines, almost looking like a proud papa bear for some reason as the young man blinked, before smiling a weary grin. He clearly hadn't been expecting him to be quite so frank, it seemed, but he bounced back quickly and didn't think anything of it; in fact, he even seemed a little more at ease at the informality. Deku could tell that he had not quite unnerved him, but he had definitely been taken aback, however slightly.

'He's certainly an interesting character.'

"The attention gets draining, huh? I can catch that drift. But! You surely are something special, you know?"

He let out a half-gargled laugh in turn, slightly awkward.

He really wasn't used to these types.

'Ah yes, I am very special indeed...'

He felt the buzz of the phone under his bedsheets.

'But I don't think that I'm the special you have in mind.'

He looked over at All Might.

"But, would you mind telling me the real reason that you brought him along? I have nothing against his presence here," That was a lie. "Still, my situation is a little precarious at the moment. If a reporter got word that I'm here, it'd be a shark to blood, after all."

"Actually, he's the one who wanted to tag along with me," All Might shrugged his shoulders as he spoke, and Deku had the urge to ground his teeth.

There was no way that he couldn't lose a student if he felt it was necessary. Hell, the kid was his successor, and for a presumably good reason; if he just said that he wasn't comfortable bringing him, the kid likely would obey. Respect and such things are supposedly a big thing for proper heroes. He clearly let him come here.

But why did he?

That was the question here.

And he wasn't gifted enough clues to figure it out, even for him and his supposed high intelligence.

He bit the inside of his lip.

Looks like he had no choice but to extend the conversation in an attempt to figure it out. Or this would bug him for ages.

"Mirio-san, this might be a little awkward to ask, but why exactly did you want to come here?"

"Me? Oh, umm, there wasn't that big of a reason. I had no idea you would be here. I just need to talk to Sensei for a moment. I ran into someone on my patrol, and well... It's a bit of a big deal, but not one you have to worry about, Midoriya-san."

'Someone on his patrol? He does look like he's two, maybe three years older than me if I stretch it. It may be good enough of a reason if it was urgent for All Might to bring him along, but... Why did he bother to take the time to enter this room in particular? Why did he just not listen to what Mirio was saying at wherever they were first? I don't think I'll get an answer to this question... Whatever, I don't think that I, in particular, am being involved.'

"Mirio, don't worry about Young Midoriya, and feel free to speak your mind. Whatever you planned on sharing is worth sharing among friends," All Might spoke out, voice deceptively smooth and silky.

Deku felt like clawing his hair out.

'...What the fuck is going on? These guys aren't making any logical sense-! No. I don't have the full picture. They clearly want something else, have different motives than I imagine they do, but just what is it?! What do they gain by exposing this to me?'

"...Uh okay then. I ran into the... Shie Hassaikai. A member from that, and a little girl. Anything other than that or what that means is something I don't have the answer to. But... She looked in pain. No matter what, I have to find her again and help her."

'...This makes no sense. He barely knows what's going on, let alone getting something out of me. Just what in the world is going on..?'

"I see. Thank you for telling me, Mirio," He smiled, ever so nice and quaint, as he headed for the door. "I'll leave you two to it then."

'...Huh?'

Mirio stayed for around twenty minutes before he up and left, a cheerful, friendly smile echoing in his wake as he closed the door and judging from the sound of his footsteps, completely left the vicinity. His senses, as heightened as they were from Gray's repeated tampering, couldn't detect a single soul within a 5 room radius of him at 30. Indeed, there was no one at all in his vicinity.

There were no cameras in this room either; he had already checked.

While that very fact triggered his paranoia even further, he found nothing in the end, even when he asked Gray to search around the room for electric pulses signature to the cameras. No, not just cameras; microphones, spy holes, even quirks. She found nothing in the end and Deku was forced to simply drop it, incapable of investigating to any further degree. Although she herself admitted to being helpless if the observational method was formless and invisible in nature, so that might be it?

He fluidly and naturally pulled up his bedsheets, feigned sleep, and even waited for 20 long more minutes before he truly acted.

It was a risk to act, but weren't all things risky inherently?

You could be doing nothing but walking and a rock could drop on your head.

This was the same thing, just different in terms of degree.

He read the message that Zero had sent to him first.

Countdown_To_Your_Doom: If you get this, send back the name of that brand you forced me to wear, kiddo

'Brand..? The one-suit I made him wear? He's still salty enough to remember that and make it the code?'

Red_Boy: Tinki, you weirdo.

Countdown_To_Your_Doom: Good, good, you're okay; I was almost worried for a moment.
⌊ But no matter. I have disturbing news, kiddo.
⌊ You know that stuff that All Might was screwing with you over? The gang and a girl?
⌊ According to our sources, they've finally made it.
                                            ⌊ Quirk-erasing bullets.
⌊ ...Fuck. Quickly get rid of this, they've been watching us with a quirk this whole time!

Deku had only time for one thought before the flurry of action before him.

'It really isn't paranoia if they're out to get you-'

"Sorry, but we need to know what your friend has been telling you."

He was greeted by the sight of Aizawa, eye alight and blazing. Accompanying him were all the members of the teaching staff of UA, the mouse-bear hybrid at the forefront of the lot, with All Might in his muscular form at the back looking like he wanted to be anywhere but here. Clearly, they had been paying him a great more deal of attention than he had thought and had even found a specialized quirk for this that even he couldn't detect.

He had been baited.

And he fell right into it like the little idiot that he was.

A mouse after the cheese, unable to see anything but what was in front of him.

His thoughts repeated once more, from nothing more than a few scant hours ago.

'...Well, fuck.'

AN: Totally not the latest I've ever been.
