“Wake up, holder of Nothigness” – A voice boomed inside my head. Where am I? Was I asleep?

“Who are you?" - I couldn't see anything; the scene before turned into a black landscape.

“It's not important, but things will go in whatever way I want them. You can't change or challenge fate. I made you what you are for a specific reason. Give in to your instincts."

“That's enough" – I heard Hanako's voice, and I felt a hand dragging me in an unknown direction.

“Please, spare them all, from the burned of… life" – I hear a weak female voice almost calling me.

I wake up a few minutes later, only to find myself in Hanako's dimension.

“Kid, forget what you witnessed here. You won’t have to worry about that. Now, return to the waking world!” - Hanako put the palm of her left hand on my chest and gently pushed me.

I don't know what happened or what that was, but I have to see whatever is new around here. Or at least find my best friend, Lucas; he is somehow the only person I remember; remembering is a stretch, but I can remember his name and a few moments we shared. Still, I can't remember much more than that.

"Meiko, wake up!"- I hear a familiar, deep voice near me. Opening my eyes, I look at a figure with brown hair and grey eyes while wearing plain black and white clothes with an assorted hairstyle.

"Lucas?"- That's all I said the first time I saw him. This is the first time I've seen it in god knows how long.

"Yeah, you remember me. Thank god. But how much can you remember?" - He asked me with a straight face; my gaze drifted more onto him, scanning him carefully and looking over at what was near us. He had brought some sweets for me, and from what it looked like, he had some candy near my desk.

"Well, not much aside from your name and the fact that we are friends. I don't know more than this." - I kept looking at the ground; I felt ashamed of myself for this; how did I even know this memory was real?

“Don't worry about it kid, that's all I could keep from your previous memories" – I can hear Hanako's voice in my head, her tone so sweet like that of a mother.

“Well, not worth dwelling on it, Meiko. I don't remember that much either. Let's go grab something to eat. Amy wants to speak with us after this," I said, nodding and silently following Lucas to the cafeteria. I didn't see as many people as when I first woke up in this place; there seemed to be some people in a corner, and they were crying; I don't know what happened, but I didn't like the look of this, the mere sight of sad people is enough to make me feel what they feel.

“So, what happened? Do you know a reason why the two of lost our memories?” - Lucas played a bit with the fork he had in his left hand, trying to balance it on his finger

“No, neither could Hanako tell me. But we shouldn't worry about this right now, you know. We should worry about important stuff, like school and the sort" – I can hear faint footsteps behind me; I turned fast enough to see Amy slowly walking toward us. I wonder where did she come from?

“Hey there, kids! How are you two doing?" - She sat down near me, her gaze fixated on me.

“We are fine. I am just wondering why Lucas lost his memories as well; for me, it's justified, but is it him as well?" I looked at Amy, and she gave me a warm smile and a head pat.

“Well, we can't explain it either but all that maters is that you two are here and can talk with each other" – Amy rose from where she was seated and went to the canteen to pick up some food for herself and then came back to sit near me.

We stood in silence for what I can think of as 20 gruelling minutes.

"Kido's come on, I want to show you something." We followed Amy, and she brought us outside of the base where we were.

This whole base was in a forest of all places, well hidden by shrubs and trees; it looked like no one could find us here, but why in the middle of a forest?

"Well, what do you say about the outside? The virbant green colours of the summer aren't my type but you need to see this place in the winter." - The colours can be gorgeous, but I am not fond of them either.

"It's beautiful!" - Lucas exclaimed as he wandered around, and I followed suit.

"Hey, wait for me!" - Amy followed us. We wanted to go deeper than 30 meters before the base, but she forbade us.

“You can’t go further than this. I wanted to tell you something else, come with me near the base” – Amy carried both of us near the base.

“Well, what is it?” - We asked her at the same time

"You will go to school starting this September, I got all the documents for you two handled already, I prepared a backstory even. Remember, always report back to me if you see suspicious people prwaling around the base or at school. Ok?" - She gave us a stern look and then sighed.

“Ok, will do” – We both replied to her words.

"Great, now, after you start school, we will begin to train the two of you in combat after the classes, 3 classes per week and you will need to learn combat pretty fast. I will explain so then. For now, I want to let you two live a little more freely until then, you have 1 whole month" – She winked and opened the door to the base; we entered and then went to my room, even tho we have separate rooms we decided that he can stay in mine for the time being, while we discuss stuff.

I don't know what to do with this day anymore, but I am pretty sure I can still do something; oh man, many things can be done, but I don't really want to, but I have so much energy, and I can't sleep, what to do now?
