As weird as the first mission was, I felt like it couldn't quite hold a candle to the second one.

"So, lemme get this straight... The Space Tome has been found," I tried to digest what I'd been told but failed miserably in the process.

"Is about to be found," Isis corrected me with a slightly exasperated look on her face as Lucia and I stood before the thrones looking confused. We had already gotten what we felt we'd need, so all that was left was essentially ironing out the details.

"Okay. So, some archaeologists are about to find the Space Tome in a cave, and we're supposed to stop that from happening?" Where are you getting this information? I wondered, as it was beginning to feel like more than just an extensive spying network. I couldn't help but wonder if Lord Behemoth could see into the future somehow. Matilda could catch glimpses of the future, and she was only human, so Divine Beasts may very well have precognitive abilities. And then, there's the seriousness in her eyes... It all pointed to something that tickled my intrigue.

"It's not just any group but a nation-wide project involving the best archaeologists and adventurers from the Kingdom and its allies to find the legendary Tome and use it as leverage against the Empire. They'll be exploring the Colboro Den, deep in the heart of the Iuromian Empire, so you'll need to start making arrange—"

"That will not be necessary," a familiar, regal-sounding voice interrupted. Lord Behemoth! It was weird, but I felt like we were slowly getting used to his presence over the past few months. However, I had to consider all possibilities, He could be concealing his aura to make it possible for us to relate with him.

His cold, calculating, heterochromatic eyes were the same as ever, but I was beginning to sense a kind warmth hidden within them. I felt like he was a good guy deep down, but I couldn't quite say if that was purely my imagination or not. I prided myself in my ability to read people, and my predictions were usually right, but he was a Divine Beast, a god of this world. It'd be quite arrogant of me to think I have him all figured out, I thought to myself with a wry smile as he continued his speech,

"The time is far spent, and we must not allow that Tome to fall into their hands." Once again, even though Lucia was standing right next to me, his eyes and words seemed to be directed at me alone. "I'll help you get there, so use any means necessary, even killing if you must, to prevent them from finding it." After his short exhortation, he stretched forth his right hand and said, "[Lordship: Terraportation]" and at once, the ground beneath us opened up, and we fell through a large underground tunnel that deepened as we fell.

"Kyaa!" Lucia hugged me with all her might, and for a brief moment, I experienced the comforting feel of her breasts on my arm before reigning in my thoughts by the power of my will. Stay strong, Daphne! This is not the time! We kept falling... and falling... and falling... through the underground tunnel until I could barely make out a cave floor before everything went black.

After much consideration, sticking with the current schedule would be best, as I feel it helps me in more ways than one, but yeah, asides from the Patreon chapter on Monday, I won't be publishing any chapters next week. I'll also take this opportunity to announce that I'll be going on another Hiatus from the 10th to the 28th of February due to some important exams I'll be taking. So, sorry once again ? and thank you for your patience and understanding.
