Mary: The Healing Saint and the Eternal Companion
Origins and Connection to AIDO and Retter Messiah Creation
Mary is one of the youngest Retter Messiah by age but has been awake longer than nearly all others, aside from AIDO’s direct children. Among the 1,197 Retter Messiahs, most remain within the ARCA, monitored by Monitor, serving as pillars to aid other children of AIDO in saving worlds and universes.
Mary, however, was chosen by The Good, the Celestial Council, the Infernal Princes, and AIDO himself to awaken on Earth. While many wondered why she was selected, her purpose became clear—to correct a devastating error in the divine plan.
The creation of Mutant Beasts, meant to be a manageable threat for humanity, spiraled out of control due to Leviathan’s actions, which briefly caused every entity in existence to tremble. Gabriel and Lucifer suspect that The Good allowed the chaos to unfold intentionally, though they don’t know why he didn’t warn Gabriel as he usually would.
Mary and Frenia were chosen not only to correct this error but to act as examples for Luyira and Aido—showing them two different perspectives: one of an unyielding warrior limited by her own scars and one of a compassionate healer offering comfort to generations.
Mary’s Role in Humanity’s Survival
Mary was the first Retter Messiah to awaken on Earth, appearing in Brazil. Her presence single-handedly shifted humanity’s fate. Diseases that had once decimated the survivors were nearly eradicated under her care. Wounds that would have meant certain death were healed.
Known as Saint Mary, she became a beacon of hope. Her influence unified nomadic human groups, who began to believe that survival was more than just running—they could resist and even thrive. Through her actions, humanity gained the courage to face the darkness rather than flee from it.
In another corner of the world, a team of human fighters found Frenia, who became the second Retter Messiah to awaken. Though Frenia rarely visited Mary, knowing she was out there gave Mary comfort and a sense of companionship, even as she bore the weight of the world alone.
Mary’s Relationships and Unspoken Longing
Mary, with her angelic appearance and aura of grace, became the object of desire for many men, including the great hero James. Yet, none ever captured her heart. Most felt unworthy of her affection, recognizing that her gaze never held love for them in return. Over time, they gave up, understanding that her immortality made it impossible for them to share eternity with her.
Some men approached her with the argument that loving her, even temporarily, was better than never loving her at all. But Mary saw them as friends or, more often, as children in need of guidance—similar to how she viewed Arthur.
Frenia, who had her own share of fleeting romances, would often encourage Mary to take a lover, believing that even a short time of love was better than none. But Mary declined, seeing how Frenia’s heart ached with each loss of her partners. She believed that, unlike Frenia, she could endure the loneliness.
That changed when Mary learned of The Savior and a third Retter Messiah. Disguising her identity, she accompanied Arthur to meet his family. It was there, upon seeing Aido, that her heart stirred for the first time in ages.
Aido, just a child at the time, held Luyira’s hand with a protective and serious gaze that captivated Mary. She found him adorable, though she would later realize, through Arthur and Alidia, that this boy was The Savior.
Watching his growth over the years, Mary began to feel something she never had before—a desire for companionship. She was drawn to Aido, not as a father figure like the other 1,197 Retter Messiah who saw AIDO as their creator, but as a man. He was someone who could end her loneliness, not temporarily, but eternally.
Physical Appearance and Transformation
Mary’s original form was designed to reflect the desires of humanity for a saintly figure. Her Retter Messiah traits, inspired by a dove, gave her a truly angelic appearance:
• Height: Comparable to Aido’s, allowing her to meet his gaze easily.
• Wings: Pristine and white, a clear marker of her divine essence.
• Tail: A small dove-like tail, often hidden beneath her dress, as it does not align with traditional depictions of angels.
• Hair: Originally white, matching her wings, but turned golden as her form evolved to suit humanity’s perceptions of her holiness.
• Eyes: Initially gray, but shifted to a vibrant blue, embodying both her purity and the depth of her compassion.
• Body: Graceful and elegant rather than overtly voluptuous, befitting her saintly image.
After meeting Aido and observing his preferences, Mary’s subconscious desire to stand out began to subtly alter her appearance. Upon hearing Aido praise the blue plumage of a demi-human under Georgina’s command, Mary’s hair transformed into a striking ocean-blue, symbolizing her yearning to give life and reflect her devotion to him.
Later, after their relationship deepened and Mary conceived Aido’s child, her body matured further. Her figure grew more voluptuous, with larger breasts akin to Luyira and Alidia’s, and her hips became fuller, though not as wide as Rina’s. Her transformation highlighted her growth, both as a woman and as someone who now carried the weight of motherhood.
