For those of you that never heard of this story, you're in for a treat. This is one of those rare gems where the smut, while excellent, could be removed and the story holds on its own. The characters feel human, their emotions genuine, and the amount of tender loving care expressed is incredible. While things will not all be rainbows and sunshine (actually, the story gets quite dark at some points), the characters are likable (with the exception of the toxic masculinity character, but even then he feels like a real person and not a walking cliché)
