Here you can see details that may wouldn't be explored in the main series because of excessive information. The limit of powers and sources were described. This can be changed because the Steven Universe world is full of "magical stuff". The author's brain needs a rest to assimilate a coherent logic.
Powers sources
Dark Substance: a strange and abundant substance. Gems can interact with this substance and generate energy to sustain their needs. An energy naturally unstable that seeks for stability. If the amount of substance is dense enough it can interfere in the physical word as energy or semi-physical state.
Limits: Dark energy is unstable and can't interact in the physical world without gems to condense and control the substance. Each gem has different limits of how much of energy they can convert. Gem can be overloaded by the continuous convertion.
Dark Energy: dark substance converted to energy, act like a source of gem's powers.
Basic Gem Powers
Bubble:
stabilize dark substance in spherical shape turning unable of any energy pass through and repelling sources. Gems inside bubbles can't generate a physical body due the lack of dark substance provided to generate their own bodies. Depending of the amount of energy provided, the resistence of the bubble is influenced.
Gem weapon:
Each gem have distinctions ways to manipulate energy, but the source of its powers are the same. The weapons are similar to Gem's bodies, usign dark energy to interact in the physical body. When the energy source is stopped the weapon disappears and become disperse dark substance.
Gem energy:
Dark substance converted to dark energy in great density.
Gem transformation:
Active process of use the gem to modelate dark substance and continuosly provide energy to maintain physical state. When the energy provided is not enough the dark substance become unstable and disappear. The properties are restricted by the gem, turning unable to change skin color or the gem itself.
Fusion:
Gems are able to syncronize their energies and delegate body functions to each other. The mind share basic functions. The quality of the fusion depends of the stability of the energy. The stability can be influenced by the mind or poor control of the owner. More energy is saved by the delegation of activities, turning the gems stronger and able to generate more durable weapons.
Special abilities
Appraisal:
manifested by the protagonist. Manifests through the manipulation of dark substance associated with the body. The level of energy applied influence in the accuracy of the information and is not able to analyze abstract meaning of words, just the physical properties (type of paint, applied force, surface...)
Transmutation:
manifested by the protagonist. Use dark substance to condense the shape of objects or organisms and is permanently fixed by dark energy. When used in the Gem's body is necessary actively provide energy due the nature of the Gem's body to recover to its natural state.
More information will be added in the future as we explore little by little.
Separed into propagation, connection and teleportation. Use dark substance as a wave signal to find any available points. When the frequence of two Warps matches a connection is stabilished and the connection points create a dense energy attracting the gem to the another point.

Steven Universe is not the world you would imagine a fan fic in, at least not one without pornographic/s*xual content. What makes sense is that the series is very much about love and s*xuality (even if implicit). The fusion of the Gems is also a state where none of the Gems exist. For humans, this only happens in 3 moments: before birth, at death, and during s*x. Since it is not possible to experience the embryonic state or death twice, the allusion is clear. But here we have something different, which does not focus on the s*xual part of the world, but rather on what would happen if some pebbles were thrown in the way. And if I am understanding the little hints correctly, what would happen after the events of Steven Universe Future? I mean, we only saw one alien race. Who knows what others might be in the void?
My biggest concern with this novel is that it seems like the author is a student and takes the story as a hobby but at the same time spends much more time revising/rewriting the story than actually writing it, he seems to be worried about not knowing how to write properly, and from my experience when an author tries to smooth out the edges of the story too much he usually goes into a tailspin and can't continue developing the story thinking about whether he did everything right in the past part, he gets discouraged for working so hard and having little to show or he convinces himself that he can't write something readable. That's why I wanted to say that if the author is reading this, stop trying to make each chapter/arc perfect. An author's first achievement is not to write something wonderful, it's simply to finish a story, no matter how bad it is. You learn much more from making mistakes than from getting things right. And let's be clear, there are 102 reviews with an average of 4.8 stars. The idea is good and your writing is clearly good enough. You only improve your writing by writing, and revising/rewriting is NOT writing.
Moral of the story? Write more and revise less, good ideas are sustained with little.

A nice Steven universe SI, and one of the better if not the best I've ever read on the subject. The MC was reborn as a peridot left alone on a kindergarten world, the story is slow paced with a lot of time spend around trauma issue but the plot seems to be realy deep and I really like the way the author doesn't restrict himself with what is cannon
