The reason I am only giving four stars is mostly pacing and in-world problems I had with the story. For pacing there is just no training. The main party trains sometimes a week before gyms, even though they should have around a year to finish the journey. There is just no reason for jumping from gym to gym. The cultivation aspect is fun, but runs into the same problem: an entirely unguided cultivator crossing 2 (maybe 3 depending on how we count) major realms in 2 weeks if I am counting correctly is really unrealistic. 

The other problem stems from the worldbuilding of the law enforcement. According to the novel even if you are literally lethally wounded (happened in recent chapters) by an evil organization that everyone knows is evil, you can't really fight back in any way that causes lasting damage, or you get arrested. It's always weird for me when authors make the world far darker than in the original material indicated, but keep forcing the good guys into the same idealistic peacekeeping method. This also implies that the police force is ultra competent when pursuing the ''good'' guys, but utterly useless when chasing after the actual criminals. This hasn't appeared in this fic yet, but there are already underlying tones that point towards it, with the Jennys already interrogating the MC even when all she does is help them, while rocket attacks just continue.

Also just remembered that even with the really dark undertones it has the Pokemon Professors are still utterly incompetent. A few Rocket grunts are robbing pokemon from the proffessor, and he does nothing about it. There is no major penalty for criminals, so they could just go ahead and assasinate most pokemmon professors in a region, crippling any kind of research, and face no major consequences for it, and these professors have no strength or protection to do anything about it.
