I love the villainess's character because it just seems so real. You can see why she chose to do what she did from her line of thoughts and past events - her actions have understandable reasons behind them. The other characters supplement the story and they all play a role in the progress, not just there for decoration.

The characters' motives are clear, their personalities are 3-dimensional enough that you can get behind why they think what they think.

The story plot seems to be well thought out. The writing style is *chef's kiss*. It's an enjoyable read.

I tried, I really did. But I just can not get past the horrendous way of story telling. It had nothing to do with grammar, language, or sentence structure, it is just genuinely a confusing and silly book it read.

I won't bother putting spoilers because this is the first chapter I'll talk about. The first things that just doesn't make sense - but can be chalked up to writers choice - is her subconscious decision  to get exiled faster instead of the subconscious decision to fix her self. The author gives the excuses that her subconscious is clearly influenced by her last life and the fact that the only ending she knows were she survives is one were she gets exiled. But already this is nonsense because if you can influence the character enough that she speeds up her own exile, then why not influence small behaviours? This can be overlooks because in the end, it's not that import and drives the story forwards.

However, then is gets needlessly messy. At some point the MC gets her memories back and further on it is insinuated that she is acting to get the ending she wants, however this point immediately falls through when the author constantly describes her thoughts that IN NO WAY suggest that she is acting. This, again, is the author choice but seems to needlessly hide the fact only to reveal it and make the dozens of paragraphs he's written pointless. It's like he's saying 'Look, here's an apple' yet as soon as we accept that it's 'an apple' he then says 'Well actually it's an orange and I was lying, none of that mattered, they weren't her actually thoughts'.

      UTTERLY POINTLESS.

Sure, in writing you want surprises but this is not how you go about it. Actions can be hidden but when it comes to the thoughts of a character they can't be.

The author does this multiple time and, unfortunately, this is also accompanied by two time skips in the first 9 chapters, empty and half hearted attempts at making connections with other characters, a baby (That she'll probably lose just for more unnecessary trauma) just BECAUSE WHY NOT, and finally a character mindset that acts like she makes all these plans but everything she does is an utter failure for the simple reason of creating more tragic backstory or conflict.

The author created a great revenge character at the start and we can really see the moment when the MC gets the drive to enact her revenge.... Only for it to be completely negated by a time skip wherein she apparently developed feelings, got pregnant, got magic powers and suddenly had all this new trauma. Honestly... this is where I was loosing faith. There was no reason to skip this part, it would have made the character seem more real and not just a frame in a movie. But again authors choice, HOWEVER, the timeskips suddenly hits like a truck. It completely come out of no where and you only figure out what's happening when you almost finish the chapter. That's just not good story telling, there's no way around it.

I personally have no idea how this only has 5 star reviews.

It is a solid 2 star story and would be one if not for the cool world they built and the quality of writing.

5 stars. It's a genuinely different take on the villainess genre done exceptionally well can't recommend it enough.  If you want a revenge story with a much more rigorous setting, and with a MC that's strong but not an outright Mary Sue, this is a great choice to read.

The Exiled Villainess returns follows the story of Livia as she triggers her own death flag and sent into exile, only to find a fate worse than death. The first few chapters are quite dark, after which the story adds elements of budding romance, drama, dealing with past trauma, and political intrigue. Throw in interesting and flawed characters, some mystery, and a revenge plot to salivate over to get one of the most immersive stories I've read in a long while.

      I will make its simple

It's good really good novel but its overly and needlessly  complicated and complex story

It's like if someone asked you to cut an apple 🍎

And then you keep trying to cut it in different way and forms Very precisely when  he keeps waiting for you to be done with it so he can finally eat the damn apple

Of course this is just my opinion ☺️ some people may find it more enjoyable this way

I'm a person who's very picky about what I read, I mean bording obsessed with all types of details picky, and this book here is one of the best I have been reading, I follow the story since the firsts chapters and I can totally recommend, it has a great plot line the characters are very well structured and very almost to none grammar mistakes kkkk.

The story so far has been taking a very unexpected and also exciting development and I just hope it keep going that way because I wouldn't be able to bear with something happens to my babies.
