Synopsis

(New Chapters every mon/wed/fri)
Jason Merris had always carried a bit of extra weight, but after his father’s passing, it only got worse. At sixteen, he was pushing nearly three hundred pounds. High school became a battleground, with bullies and his own social anxiety making every day a struggle. Coping with grief, he turned to food. His mother indulged him with well-meaning but excessive cooking, all in the hopes of seeing her son smile again.

Jillian Lins, a feisty redhead from a close-knit family, had her own struggles. Raised by her grandfather while her parents worked tirelessly, she battled with an attitude that masked her underlying sweetness. But a tragedy before high school left her bitter and guarded, a simmering anger waiting to erupt.

Their paths collided in high school, with a misunderstanding sparking Jillian’s relentless torment of Jason. For four grueling years, he endured her wrath, retreating into himself while keeping his pain hidden from his mother.

Jason’s life took a drastic turn post-graduation. With a scholarship to a private Florida university, he threw himself into studying and boxing, shedding both weight and what emotional baggage he could. Meanwhile, Jillian found herself trapped in an abusive relationship, fleeing only after enduring years of torment. Seeking refuge back home, her family is now working hard to put the pieces of her shattered mental and physical state back together again.

Years later, Jason returns home for a brief respite from his new job, only to find his mother befriended Jillian’s family in his absence. Old wounds reopen as bully and victim are thrust together once more. But Jason is not the same timid boy, and Jillian is grappling with new, potent demons. Can they reconcile their past in the short time he’s home? Or is the divide between love and hate too vast?

(This is the unedited/uncensored version of the book due to Royal Road declaring that it was too sexual for their site and not "advertiser friendly". That being said. This is an angsty romance/drama that has lots of deep dives into different characters' traumas and their journeys to recovery. The aim was to make the emotions feel as real as possible. While there are some improbable moments, nothing in the book would be considered impossible. There are bits of sarcastic humor here and there, as well as yes, a good amount of sexual content, But it isn't really the primary focus.)

I read it when it was on RR. The author had to remove it, so I will post my review from there to here to support the author with their superb story.

I've been thoroughly enjoying this story so far. Its feels very believable. It does not feel like some incels wet dream despite sharing a lot off simularities.I didnt catch any grammar or spelling mistakes, if there were any to begin with in the first place. Pacing also feels good, story development might be a bit slow at times, but that is probably my impatience. The pay offs are very worth it.I'd recommend this story.

As this book is migrating from Royal Road to Scribblehub im copying my RR review of the first book below. This was the best romance that I had found on RR in many years and having to switch over to Scribblehub is quite inconvenient.

    ---

Two weeks between love and hate is (obviously) a fast paced romance novel. The fast pacing is achieved by quick changes in the relationship due to events often involving past trauma or other (relationship) history. You'd expect that many 'coincidences' would be needed to get a realistic romance in two weeks but almost all are believably triggered or initiated, without breaking immersion.

It's a well crafted emotional rollercoaster with (in the second half) some really sweet spicy scenes.

    Characters:

Both main characters have significant trauma, bad relationship history and even common history they have to slowly work through. (Yes it still feels slow dispite the fast pace.) These traumas are balanced enough that both are working through them together instead of one fixing the other.

The supporting characters also have their own unique personality and issues that often affect the plot in unexpected ways.

    Style:

With the amount of character history concerning politically sensitive subjects, Xam_I_Am did a good job of avoiding political bias, showing events through the characters' experience and giving any issue only the attention it deserves from a plot perspective. I was only bothered by a slight bias against the integrity of police and rich people but since this is America it might just be spot on.

The story is told from the perspective of the main characters and occasional side character. The transitios were smooth: clear but not obnoxious.

    Grammar:

I remember no grammar or spelling issues. I only had to stop reading and go back once because of some sign language where you need to remember who can or can't read sign.

    Overall:

Im not usually into romances but this is by far the best romance I have read on this site. Comparable to Epilogue (how I remember it) in quality and style but this is a dedicated romance.

Very nice book overall, with a few grammar/spelling mistakes, no major ones. Was well written with good drama, although a bit of the drama at the end felt a little forced. All in all, I recommend reading if you're a fan of romance novels with smut.

(Mature scenes were also pretty nicely written)

In Two Weeks Between Love & Hate, we follow Jason Merris as he returns to his childhood home to enjoy what would be a quiet vacation spent visiting his mother. However, when he comes face to face with his high school bully, Jillian Lins, that hope for a peaceful visit is shattered.

Without giving too much away, Two Weeks Between Love & Hate is, yes, a love story. But more so than that, it’s a story about learning to overcome our past traumas, learning to forgive our enemies, and more importantly, learning to forgive ourselves. I feel it’s a universal story that deals with two, very flawed characters and themes of loss and struggle that most of us can relate to.

The author tells this story with humor and brutal honesty, and in a way that is real and compassionate. I found myself applauding these characters in their good moments, and still wanting to root for them even in their bad. And all of it comes together with a final twist that leaves this reader dying to know what happens next.

If you love a good enemies-to-lovers story with lots of heart, and plenty of spice, I can’t recommend this one enough.
