Gwen Stacy found it hard to relate to the news that aired worldwide. Talia Stark had become the Iron Woman; how was she supposed even to compute such a thing? Like many things she'd seen on the news, they were so far away from her that she couldn't understand what was happening sometimes apart from a momentary sympathy and heartache. She was so far away from such a life, still in high school and about to sit her SAT, that she didn't have the time to think about such things either. And even if she did, she didn't have the power or influence to make a change either way. And therefore, with the plans to go on about her day, she walked home from school.

That evening, however, after participating in a secret hobby that even her best friend, Peter Parker, didn't know about, she was granted an opportunity for a lifetime. While happy, surprised and somewhat scared, she couldn't help but think to herself.

"Don't most superheroes get an awesome background story filled with the desire for survival or revenge? What would people think of me if they found that I got my powers by furiously masturbating to a Yuri novel?"
