Orion's Ballad is a story about a young woman who grew up dreaming about having magic powers and is thrust head first into the life of an adventurer the day after she finally gets them. Ripped away from her boring life in a quiet village to a faraway unconquered land where everything is larger and most things try to kill her, she'll have to make fast friends and make creative use of her powers to survive. With the help of her new party, Iris figures out the hard way out how the world works, and finds herself in no small amount of trouble along the way.

What to expect:

- MC does not min/max, and is not an experienced adventurer or gamer
- MC is not isekai'd from another world, but shortly after the story begins she is teleported to a faraway continent on the frontier of her empire's exploration of the world.
- MC is not the chosen one or responsible for saving the world.
- Diegetic experience/leveling system based on in-world scientific studies of magic. Character sheets are generated/updated by enchanted journals owned by most adventurers.
- Stretches of traveling/camping, with compounding injuries and damaged gear throughout the trips.
- Social dynamics between party members.
- A variety of unique environments and locations
