Frankly, it feels like a disservice to the entire anime. Initially, I thought the title was a joke or that the protagonist would have some hack that turns him into a mage—but no, this story essentially turns Benders into mages. While there's an explanation for it, it's unsatisfying. I came here to read a story about Avatar and ended up with an Avator.

Additionally, the chapters are very short—so short, in fact, that scenes are abruptly cut off at moments that lack any narrative flow.

For example, early on, when the author is establishing the protagonist's backstory, the chapter just ends suddenly. In a completed story with many chapters, this might not be a big issue. But in a still-ongoing story, the endings feel incredibly rushed.

Moreover... besides the rushed chapter endings, the story itself feels like a race, with nearly no dialogue—just introspection and descriptions. When I say rushed, I mean extremely rushed: years pass, the protagonist masters water "magic" and all its sub-skills off-screen, then suddenly appears heading to the Earth Kingdom to learn earth "magic."

Other characters? Forget about them. Not even his mother was given the dignity of meaningful dialogue. Despite a dark backstory tied to the MC's birth, you feel nothing because all you know about her before that plot reveal is that she trains the MC in water "magic." He spent years with her, and they had only one on-screen conversation.
