Kaden Varyn is the son of Thyros Varyn, one of the most respected and powerful Guardians of the Order of Light. Thyros was a legendary warrior and alongside him stood Serin Grey in battle during the The Shadowfire Conflict. Kaden grew up under the weight of his father, always struggling to live up to his legacy.

When Serin Grey betrayed the Order and embraced Shadow Magic, it was Kaden’s father who led the defense for the Kingdom of Vyrros, capital of the Republic of Elarion. In battle, Serin kills Thyros Varyn in a duel. Serin's betrayal and takeover of the Republic forced Kaden along with the Order of Light and a portion of the population to flee to the remote regions of Elarion.

Kaden, consumed by hatred for Serin and bitterness towards the Order that refuses to take the actions needed, sets out on a dangerous path of rebellion, leading a group called the Sons of Vyrros.
