(copying my review from Royal Road because I intend never to use that site again and this fic deserves the traffic.)

Yes!! Yes!!! I remember reading this on Ao3, this is my favorite Bowsette fanfic by a long shot! Very happy to see it make its way on Scribblehub.

This story explores Bowsette specifically in the context of her having been a repressed bis*xual trans woman, and it gets gay with Peach! Makes my tiny trans lesbian heart flutter.

On a non-gendery note, the story is also packed with interesting action scenes that, true to the original material, feel lifted straight from a video game, with Bowsette regularly using every item she's managed to stash in her inventory.

It's also a story of immense political intrigue, as the disappearance of Peach makes the mushroom kingdom fall to fascism, monarchies explode, territories demand independance, and a certain someone from Bowsette's past ressurfaces to cause chaos.

Stew that all together in a mushy sometimes light hearted sometimes heavy mix and you get The Glory of Bowsette, which I could continue to gush about for ages.

The Glory of Bowsette gives her the most light-hearted and wholesome depiction the character could ever have, and all what Bowsette could ever deserve as a character where she is badass, has more empathy and becomes a really relatable person, it is an epic story filled up with a lot of events and pretty high stakes that I know a lot of people who will love the character, the Mario franchise, and even action-comedy will enjoy.

Bowsette is depicted as a trans woman who experiences dysphoria as a male Koopa, I have seen several depictions of the character where she is shown as genderfluid (getting used to the body like in Foe to Admirer or Bowsette Syndrome where she gets used to her new body or doesn't mind the change) but this one goes right into the transgender approach which I consider a fantastic bold move.

Even when Mario and Luigi themselves are given practically no protagonism, the story is filled with all sorts of characters from the Mario world and lore, characters we have seen in previous RPGs and releases of the franchise, you will not even miss then, the best part is Bowsette's relationship with Peach, I don't want to spoil it really, but I can only say that it melts my heart.

There are some things to take into account I would rather mention for people who are looking forward to reading this, like how everybody, and I mean absolutely everybody accepts Bowsette newform, everybody, even the bad guys (although that is a lie, there is one single person with a single appearance in one chapter and that is not seen again, that doesn't seem to address Bowsette properly), and the race change is not mentioned either or found to be an issue, which I found a bit off. Of course, I am not expecting social realism or drama from a fun story like this, and it is likely that people in the Mario World are more used to wacky and crazy transformations, but I have to mention it because it might be a deal-breaker for people who like gender-bending for the "the issues of a transition causes on a protagonist" and internal psychological issues seem to have a rather secondary focus compared to the main plot, but they are still there. This is a different kind of gender-bending story, but yes, Bowsette goes through personal growth and change.

A single issue I have with the story, the pacing is really, really fast. It covers a lot of events and it's because of this that a lot of relationships and social conflicts are only touched briefly, the main focus of the story is the silly but fun-packed action, the conflict between kingdoms, as well the relationship with Peach (and all the wholesomeness that comes with it) but well, to be fair with this story, it was written in the span of two weeks and it has more than 100k words! So in my opinion, this story is everything it could ever be and it's amazing at it.

In summary, I can recommend this story to people who love the character of Bowsette not because of lewd reasons because of what she represents, I can recommend this to anybody fan of the Mario franchise, anybody who loves silly action-packed fun, and anybody who loves wholesome and grand, epic stories!

This is The Glory of Bowsette!

started from meme. But by the of story, it become a mature shounen webnovel.

all that nintendo lores. Obscure characters from famicom era. Put togetger, become an unique fantasy world with in consistant but fun and interesting background.

that's why I give this 5 stars. Nintendo franchies that's as deep as mickey mouse. And gameplay-centric design that undermine plot (if the game has one). Mascots with their face and nothing else. Their backstory, abilities change with every games. Only their unchanging role remain.

to drive into that gabage bin and craft something this good. And even respect original contents enough that it can even stand up against wiki searches.

    Status: chapter 49: undue consequences

    Spoiler

Before the Chapter 47: Classy Dinner at Sirena Beach, for what this is, full stars. Honestly, read up to 46 and leave forever happy. The story is light-hearted & goofy, fully embracing the IP it's set in. there is a slow build romance with peach that is super sweet, while Mario is not very well-developed in the story, mostly hinting at him being a bad boyfriend and how weird that is, like mind control but he is the hero, and they can only see him as such. Chapter 47 reads like an mind control nightmare. And then the next c 48 they wake up having slept together, im ok if it was a love hate flip, But nothing was set up for that before this. It's just been goofy fun with slow build romance as she learns to be a person. And in the following chapter as they wake up in bed. Its like, hmm how do I put this, it's like they can't think about what he did to them. Up to that with how light-hearted goofing off writing, and sweet its been with peach, heck they had plans to meet up the night this happens, Peach and Bowsette have no reason to like him, like him at that point. this is a crazy turn.  And if anything in the story, Mario just ups and sleeps with someone who has hurt a lot of people just because there a woman now. Like I said at the start of writing this, Mario Mario is not very well-developed in the story and was not even a main cast outside of being a bad boyfriend peach started distancing herself from.
