A reincarnated soul begins the journey to immortality for what he hopes to be the last time. Unfortunately, occupying the body of a boy many would have preferred stay dead.
This is not your average cultivation novel, please refer to the reviews :D
I always appreciate this as a reader so I'll make sure to do it as an author: There is NO NTR in this story, you are safe! ;)
My real score is a 4.4, but why not just make it a 5 as thanks to the author... or so goes my reasoning lol.
I waited a while before reviewing the story. Many Wuxia/Xianxia stories that attempt a more realistic approach to the story, can only do so for so long before it falls on its face. I thought the same would happened with this story.
I am happy to report that as of CH.24, that has not been the case.
This story feels real. Actually that is not quite the right word; realistic? Authentic? Yes, Authentic. This story feels authentic. It has it's own charm and flow. It does not seem rushed. And it is doing things it's own way. The story does not show/tell you more than it is necessary. You, the reader, are as in the dark as the characters. It makes for wonderful story telling.
While there are some elements that do not change in terms of a Martial Arts story, the core concept of the story is it's own entity. There is no impossible mission. There is no great evil to destroy. There is no grand master being offended for no damn reason. It is a logical take on the genre. One that I am ever grateful for.
We simply have a man. Who for reasons unbeknown to us, has the ability to reincarnate. Sadly, he's latest reincarnation is that of someone who has only done evil to those around him. He now takes on a journey to fix that rather than leaving it as it is. Simple right? Wrong. The author must now make the reader understand why the MC behaves the way he does, without shedding too much light or spoiling the fun. How will he make right with his parents? How will people trust him again? What about those who seek to kill the previous host? Will he kill them in retaliation since it wasn't his fault?
These questions and their respective answers are what have me glued to this story. Just how is the MC supposed to make right what the old person did so wrong. Plus having it all being solved while making it believable is what I am so curious about. Will the author be able to write a realistic story without taking something out of his arse? We are talking about a reincarnator. Someone who has had multiple lives, and has made many mistakes and learned to fix them if that person had any speck of wisdom. I am not looking for an omnipotent character, but someone who has wisdom/intelligence while still remaining human (flaws and all). How will such an individual behave in X scenario?
Moving on from that. Side characters are awesome. They have weight to them and are not just there to magnify the MC. They don't feel 2D. They have their own ideals. But most importantly, they are important to the story. Their behavior and decisions affect the MC just as much as the MC's decisions affect them. Meaning, the story is not dictated solely by the MC. A nice touch that complements any story quite well.
Forgive me if I sound elusive on the "important matters"; what is happening in the story? Who are the main love interest? How strong is the MC? How many girls does he have? Will this review ever make sense? And things of that sort. It's just that I find them unimportant for this review. If you do think of these things as important, then I believe this may not be the story for you. This is not a power trip, or a bang (s*xually) as fast as you can type of story. It is a logical and somewhat realistic approach (as if reincarnation could ever be part of that lol) to a genre that sadly does not always get done well in terms of character development and story progression. I believe this one could possibly remediate that. While not perfect by any means. For example; I still don't quite understand why the MC is so fixated on fixing the wrongs of the previous host (there are more that pertains to the side characters, you'll see them if you read it). Also the author is not the best at being descriptive (how things looks: appearances, techniques, locations, etc). It is quite good and entertaining. I hope you give it a try.

I've always been interested in the premise of cultivation novels. Unfortunately, I had to give them up because nearly every one of them had things that I couldn't stand. I love this novel because it avoids all the things I hate about other cultivation novels.
1. There is no nationalism or racism (pretty low bar I know, but I wanted to get that out of the way first).
2. The characters are interesting. The main character is a reincarnator, but not like your typical Japanese "I'm a super special and unique reincarnator chosen by god." There is already a history of reincarnators in this world, and it isn't some god (author) that is reincarnating people for giggles. It's due to the cultivation skill of the MC which fits into the setting of the world.
The female main character isn't some prop who's sole purpose is to stroke the MC's ego. I find her interesting because she has a very believable weakness due to a past trauma, but she also has enough strength to push forward and fight that trauma while also having enough intelligence to
figure out who the MC really is
Not everyone is a murder hobo. Sure, there is a young master that tries to kill the MC due to the scumbag who previously owned the MC's body offending him. But they send assassins instead of just killing out in the open. On top of that, the next powerful person he meets actually values life. Not because the author tells you so, but because of that character's actions.
3. Cultivation techniques and skills are valuable (as they should be). But, the MC and other experts actually research and refine their skills instead of literally everyone in the world just finding magical god tier techniques that just exist to be found.

I won't be long-winded; I'll just say that this is the best cultivation novel I've read on this site so far. The author is very talented and avoids the annoyingly predictable plot lines that are common in cultivation novels without stretching realism thin for plot-twist value. Main character, support characters, and their surroundings are given just the right amount of substance. I'm excited for the future of this novel. 5/5 so far.

It was supposed to be a smut cultivation novel. It ended up being a very nicely written novel that's better than 99% of the stuff here. I've stopped reading chinese novels months, if not years ago and reading this was really a nice change. It has everything a good chinese novel needs without all the ret*rdation.
