After reading this toward chapter 102, I think I can definitively say I’ve lost interest in the story. It’s a reasonable story with some thought put into explaining dao in a declining world, but the story arcs just don’t really grab me in the way some other stories do, and I’m not quite sure why this is because I’ve read and enjoyed slice of life stories before. I think part of it is a combination of the story meandering a little bit and stretched belief as to how the protagonist is progressing- he’s barely above entry level cultivator (though does have a strong spirit companion backing him him), and yet he has a sect and has established it and it’s working with multiple people conveniently talented enough to figure out something no one has for ostensibly hundreds or thousands or years... ? And it’s not being crushed or other taken over immediately? This is a declining world setting, so maybe that makes sense but with many traditional tropes in the eastern mythos being partially acknowledges in some chapters, it makes me thing there’s just a lot of plot armor in the back ground... In any case, the story is a competently done western-author xianxia even if it doesn’t grab my attention like some other series do, and if you like business build up and a different way of exploring how cultivators cultivate, this is a decent enough story. As such i’m leaving this at 5 stars for sake of visibility, though I think a 4.5 or 4 would be more fair.
