【Light-hearted and humorous + No female lead + No knives + Survivalist protagonist】- caution, this story is engaging.

As the previous review mentioned, it is slow at the beginning with no clear goal, where the protagonist is mostly passive and avoids confrontations. That is in the first 100-200 chapters or so. It ramps up later on, and you start getting introduced to the crisis the continent/world faces and other mysteries. The protagonist starts having a clear objective. I enjoyed the beginning either way, it felt different compared to the other cultivation novels, a little bit fresh.
The protagonist is strong but not OP I would say? Still debating on that one. No love story/interest so far or harem. It is mostly a man and his ox traveling and experiencing the cultivation world. I don't think it ever will have any romantic plotline.
Overall, I like it. It is pretty chill but not dull, and lately in the 300s chapter, exciting, as the protagonist has a clear goal. The world is more complex than it seemed initially. I would recommend you give it a shot.

A boring story about an immortal and his ox.
Granted, the MC and his ox are good characters. Chen Xun doesn't lose his humanity as the story progress. He feels things and enjoy mortal things even when he has a high cultivation level. He enjoys his immortality and he behaves like an immortal.
But that's the problem, he behaves like you imagine a immortal would do things. He doesn't take risk so he does nothing but cultivate peacefully. He only takes action when he is absolutely certain of success. Meaning it's very very rare.
I don't need action non stop to enjoy a novel but the novel has to have a goal. The MC just lives his life to enjoy himself and get stronger. He is a spectator of history instead of an actor. When he is not hiding somewhere for years while things happen and he comes out after and learn of what happened.
I would have like him to develop a sect, a clan, a commerce, or technology. Something that the world can see and that force him to interact with people.
He could also have studied the world and his history. Unearth ancient ruin and what not. But all he discovers is by chance and not searched.
The story is too passive.
