When the Southern Song soldiers submitted to the Yuan Dynasty, they were incorporated into an army humiliatingly called "The Newly Submitted Army". To soothe their feelings, the Mongolians gave them some farmland and oxen. As well as highly desirable Korean slaves as wives.
This is the seductive tale of a former Garrison Commander and his deaf Korean wife. It follows their lives as they navigate through tumultuous times, trying to get accustomed to the existence under Kublai Khan's rule.
Although there is only a prologue of less than 3K posted in the moment of me writing this, I can say this much: This was a beautifully written piece.
And truth to be told, to me, it was perfect just as it was - a one-shot. It feels like I already got to experience enough of their story just from this, and thus, I see no real need for more.
Granted, if there ever was a continuation, then I would probably feel compelled to read that one as well.
